People need to stop wetting their pants because Bailly isn't starting. He played during the week and will likely play vs Fulham, we could end up playing a potential 9 games in Jan and nearly the same in Feb, we have no choice but to rotate.

I would be feeling confident if Cavani and Bailly started. Liverpool have selected an unusual lineup. Let's hope the boys get a result.

    Cheers.

Linderlof is generally first choice ahead of Bailly. If he's been training and preparing specifically for this game for a full week, then it's a no-brainer that he should start. Playing Bailly would be overly reactionary, imo.

But if Lindelof makes a mistake now, then Ole will undoubtedly take the blame even though probably 99% of managers would have made the same choice

When do we do that? Cavani is pretty involved in the build up.

He does come deep, granted. But I think Cavani is a good plan b for today. Martial, Rashford, Pogba, Bruno all producing little one-twos in triangles moving into their box will be Henderson and Fabinho's worst nightmare. If it doesn't work, Cavani will be on with plenty of time you'd imagine.

Less rash and a better organiser than Bailly, safer in his passing and will seek out Rashford with his long passing. We will play a low line today, less need for Bailly's pace.
Of all the things. Lindelof and Maguire literally have conceded goals because they both fail to take responsibility. Bailly's also better at dribbling.

Tbh, our best central partnership is Lindelof and Bailly but we know captain Slabhead won't get dropped because of reasons.

Ole trusts Lindelof more for games where we've less of the ball. Also likely rates his long passing for the counter. When we've more of the ball Bailly is preferred for his recovery pace for when the opposition counters

This. Also Lindelof is a good defender when we play a deep line. High line requires Bailly.

And according to idiots like you he's a complete amateur? calling him brainfart when he hasn't made any mistakes in 5 games

Let's hope your precious Lindelof manages the same.
When did I wrote he is complete amateur? Calling people idiots because they don't agree with you, tells me everything I need to know about you. Have fun bitching and moaning mr. fanboi, I will support my team regardles who is playin.

When do we do that? Cavani is pretty involved in the build up.

I don't think Cavani would have let us down at all if he started but I do think of all the players we have he is the most likely to make an impact from the bench. His enthusiasm and movement against a tired and out of position CB pairing could be a big advantage for us.

The tantrums over Bailly are hilarious  . He's as dodgy as Lindelof is and twice as likely to get injured or sent off making a stupid challenge. There's nothing to choose between them as players - neither of them are top class centre backs but will do a job.
Lindelof is an absolute liability. He's so slow. He can't jump, can't defend and he can't pass. He actually can't do anything really well. Bailly at least is fast, he can tackle and jump and he has heart. Lindelof ist just absolute dogshit.

Not as confident now looking at the lineups. Should know better to doubt Ole, but Liverpool have a pretty attacking lineup. Both teams look capable of scoring goals here.

Cavani on second half I reckon.

Let's be honest, Lindelof and Maguire is far more reassuring than Henderson and Fabinho.

    We can win this.

    We will win this.

Of all the things. Lindelof and Maguire literally have conceded goals because they both fail to take responsibility. Bailly's also better at dribbling.

Tbh, our best central partnership is Lindelof and Bailly but we know captain Slabhead won't get dropped because of reasons.
Your best partnership will always include your best CB and that’s Maguire by a distance.

And we had our chances and they scored from 2 set plays?

    I'm confused.

I said that our attacking quartet werent on it that day. Despite scoring from two set plays, I still felt City were more attacking and aggressive against us in the league cup than in the league a couple weeks prior.

Can't get over dropping Bailly, but dare I say it...we should be beating that line up.

Their midfield is as unbalanced and atrocious as physically possible.

Cavani will be lethal coming on against a tired Henderson and Fabiano.

    Martial will run them.

There will be a early goal in this. I just hope it's us that get it and not Liverpool. I have a bad feeling about this though.

Did you watch the last 2 matches against Citeh? Were you happy with those? Because outside of Henderson for De Gea in one of them and Greenwood for Martial in the other match it's the same side and formation. And I don't remember people being happy after those 2 matches.

Yes In fact I watched it very diligently and I thought we were brilliant in the FA CUP game, not only were we competitive but we missed a few very good chances, two defensive errors.

There will be fine margins today also, the result will be down to the detail.

    Interesting.

I'm not sure how well Pogba plays with Fred? I heard someone point out that Ole pairs McT & Fred for these 'big' games, but also pointed out that we have not often come out the winners when they have played together. I like Fred & McT together, but I think there may be a valid point there.
That's exactly what he'll do today.

And we had our chances and they scored from 2 set plays?

Ehh we didn't have our chances in this match. I thought we talked about this earlier, we did nothing in this game after Bruno's shot in the first 10 minutes.

Did anyone notice one big positive in the lineup? No James on the bench

Cavani coming on the for the last half an hour makes the most sense to me, he played 90 minutes during the week. Him not starting isn't a surprise.

I like Cavani from the bench as well, tired minds vs his movement might be something we can use

We’re sitting back and using Lindelof to hit balls over the top, something he’s been fantastic at this season.

My god, man. Stop talking sense and let every armchair manager in here bitch and moan about their disappointment in Ole as a manager, a man, lack of a bachelor of education when accepting a PE position, his preference of Pepsi over Coke, and Apple over Sumsung...

Apart from Bailly, who would you bring in?
I wouldn't start a combination of Lindelof and Maguire and also Mctominay and Fred.

It hasn't worked in any big games this season, and we have invited teams to play out the draw or bring pressure on us, because there isn't a proper outlet to link between midfield and Bruno & Co, and the slow center back partnership means we can't press high and just sit too deep.

I hope it plays differently of course but it's failed every time this season.

I’m not worried slightly about Lindelof being outpaced like some here seem to be. I’m worried he will be out of position or distracted and his man will sneak around him and poke home a goal in the 6 yard box.
