    DDG

    AWB Bailly Maguire Shaw

    Fred Mctominay

    Bruno Pogba

    Cavani Rashford
It's a simple 4222 variant with the focus on counter-attacking. Mctominay and Fred sitting deep, doubling up at left and right back to account for the threat of their fullbacks. Pogba and Bruno grafting in midfield, waiting for the opportunity to float a long ball over their inevitable high backline. Winner winner, chicken dinner.

    2-1 United.

#MeToo... with a Cavani winner from the bench.

Question is, is Martial fit to play?
Haha, any winner would do me perfect for this

We'll have to wait a few hours and see the lineup, but Martial gives us the best chance to move the ball up front and create chances, especially if we expect to camp in our own half for significant periods and play on the counter.

Most nervous I've been for a game in a long time.

    Think I'd go for...

    DDG
    AWB Bailly Maguire Shaw
    McT Fred
    Greenwood Bruno Pogba
    Rashford

If Martial isn't fit. If he is I'd drop Greenwood and shift to a 4222 with Rashford and Martial up top, playing the spaces between their full backs and CBs

The closer we get to the game the more nervous I am. The negativity in here is rubbing off on me too!

    I think it will be:

    AWB Bailly Maguire Shaw
    McT Fred
    Rashford Fernandes Pogba
    Cavani

    I'd prefer:

    AWB Bailly Maguire Shaw
    Matic Pogba
    Rashford Fernandes Martial
    Cavani

Matic has had 5 days rest so I think he can manage another 90'. He is simply a better player than McTominay and while I know Fred will do a good job of destroying if selected, I'd prefer a more positive approach.

I'm nervous about this game, yet overall I feel positive. If we play well and dictate the midfield then we stand a good chance at a solid win. The importance of this game cannot be overstated.

Pogba will start LW on TAA side I think, we will want the mcfred base and a front of pog/rash/cavani
I just hope he still tells Rashford to get onto that left side too as that channel behind Trent will be their biggest weakness.

yeah it’s a tricky one, rashford would probably destroy TAA today, but how do you drop pogba after the last match? Do we risk playing him CM?

if he does who plays RW, Greenwood, mata, James? Tough decisions.

I think on form he will stick to pogba left and rashford right

I expect it will be Rashford, Bruno, Pogba and Cavani as our front four with McTominay and Fred protecting.

I hope we re-jig it so Rashford is on the left though, he's not the same player on the right and Alexander-Arnold can be got at defensively.

United women vs Chelsea (top of the table clash) followed by united Liverpool straight after, it’s all too much today :nervous:

I remain unconvinced that you are actually a United fan.

If you are then you are one of the least positive ones I've seen in years. Is there anything you like about the club and players at the moment?
Because I don’t think mctominay is good? He has way more bad games than good games. Yes I’m a United fan, im just very wary & pessimistic due to a number of false dawns over the last 8 years.

I like flair players, I’ve never been a fan of workhorses who offer nothing on the ball. McTominay gives away a lot of fouls, other than that I don’t see what he offers. I’d rather a midfield of Pogba, Bruno & one of Fred or Matic.

I think he plays a diamond then Pogba will be behind Rashford on the left and either Martial or Cavani can line up in front of Bruno on the right.

    ———Bruno—————Pogba———
    ———Cavani———Rashford———

Like this with McFred behind them. The danger is what Liverpool can do on the flanks so to pull this off we would have to have some control on the game.

If the last time we played them was anything to go off, they're going to kick the shit out of Rashford and Bruno, really hoping one of them doesn't get injured otherwise our season could go really shit from here on.

I'm praying by for at least one dodgy penalty and Bruno taking one penalty 2 times.

His award is really appropriate. :D

Why? It’s always good to score penalties from the first attempt. Also it doesn’t matter whether it’s dodgy.

May be mistaken, but sometimes it feels that hatred towards Liverpool takes priority over just three points we need

I guess but we have had so so so so so many false dawns it is hard to get carried away at this point.

Although a win with a last minute pen would be fecking delicious today.
I get what you mean but try to enjoy us playing right now and the results cause after a long time there are lots of positives.
Last minute goal after an injury time has elapsed. :D

By the end of today we’ll either be sitting pretty in first with confidence sky high or looking back nervously to a not very far off fifth spot.

So if Ole and the players cope with this, we’ve finally turned that proverbial corner. I’m not all that confident but hopefully by the next match I can start to be.

Why do you guys all want McTominay to play? Not criticising just wondering.
Why do you have to ask this question every single match day thread? Not criticising just wondering.

Regarding this match, tbh I have super bad feeling so we'd win comfortably I think.

Guardian are predicting we will go back 5.
It will be idiocy on our behalf. OGS needs to play our game today, Liverpool won’t be able to cope without the defence they miss. It’s about time to play them from our position of strength

Give it a rest for a while with your repeated questions / lines „Why does / did McT play“ and „My Rashy always plays“.
The midfield you suggested this season had so far just worked against „lesser opposition“ and we have still looked suspect at times. Against top teams it will get completely overrun. I don’t even know how any United fan who has watched our games can still ask this question. We hardly have prime Carrick on the bench to replace McT.

Liverpool to win and score a penalty.

Klopps talk about penalties will influence the refs, we’ll probably be denied a stone Waller. Officiating in the Burnley game was borderline corrupt, expect more of the same here.
