I think Liverpool will come flying out of the traps so the first 20 minutes will be key for us To not panic. If we can weather that early storm and start to impose ourselves on the game, then we have a good chance. I would be delighted if it was 0-0 at halftime as I believe we will have more game changers at our disposal during the latter stages of the match.

    This.

    Pretty much.

Let’s take the game to them though, Reds. Put them on the back foot early doors. Capitalise on their recent malaise and put our foot on their throat from kick-off.

So OGS told that Diallo might be in the squad for Liverpool. Need to add him for selection options,

As much as we've improved and they've dropped in form, these are the sort of games they're designed to win.

Their mentality and style is completely geared towards playing the top clubs, we'll do well to get anything out of this.

In all their games so far this season v City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Wolves and Leicester, they've only dropped 2 points - away to City.

    Liverpool win this 2/3-0.

    Please work

Did I say throw the kitchen sink at them? I just think we have to be positive. There’s people on here saying play Fred, Matic and McTomminay. We do actually have to turn up and play football, this isn’t the Mourinho era.

Exactly. Having a positive front-foot mentality isn't akin to throwing the kitchen sink at them. What a reductive way to think about football, I mean, really.

If we can keep our shape, be on the front foot and not concede in the first 30 mins, we will get one over the Dippers tomorrow. Man I hate days like this. Imagine the scenes and all the salt if we were to go 6 pts clear of Liverpool. Hoping for City to drop points too.

Some incredibly negative lineups in this thread. I get Liverpool are a decent team but they quite literally don’t have any fit CBs. No excuse other than to go at them here. If we lose like cowards I’ll find it very frustrating.
I hear you, but you name is trustinjanuzaj so I can't trust you.

This feels like when Houllier or Benitez's Liverpool sides were being built up by pundits and the media to beat Fergie and more often than not they would fail. I hope I am wrong but this is just how its feeling to me right now. :(

Yeah, I think they’ll probably win, also because of the last few games and they’re due to bounce back.

    Cue media wankfest for weeks

We'll sit deep, concede possession, soak up pressure and look to hit the on the break.

This is synonymous with 'the United way' at this point - it's how we've played in more-or-less every big game since 2016. To be fair, it has often worked - hopefully it will again tomorrow.

I think this is different, I think that our quality actually matches theirs apart from 2/3 positions (RW and Def)

I think our best bet for the win in this game is to play without the ball - we were really impressive in games against the top 6 last season because we did just that. It's not defensive football, but it's just breaking quickly and destroying teams on the counter when we win it back, something we haven't really looked to do this season for some reason.

Rashford needs to play on the left. He's exposed Arnold every time he's played against him. I wouldn't be against James on the right, just to help Mctominay deal with Robertson before he gets to AWB.

Let them have it non-dangerous areas. As soon as it gets into midfield, press them and break quickly. Where Liverpool could really struggle with their makeshift central defence is transitioning back and running towards their own goal. If you're not a natural in that position then it's difficult to keep the correct shape when teams are breaking on you, and they really struggled with it against Southampton.

That’s very true. To be honest I don’t actually think we disagree, all I ask is we try and play football and don’t do a Mourinho. I can handle losing I just want to see us have a go when Ed get the opportunities.
No I agree with you, we won't do a Mourinho but we will be compact and look to hit on the break like we've done against City in the past. This game will be dreadful if Liverpool sit back and don't come at us.

Hopefully we win with a defensive performance and a injury time penalty, given after a lengthy VAR decision for handball. Bruno misses the penalty but the keeper was off his line and it is retaken and smashed into the corner.

Something like that would do nicely.

    Yep we have to counter

And we would all die of a heart attack

Are we a top club then?

    Edit: missed the white text.

They will definitely listen to you the third time ;)

So let's try the third time lucky post :D :

Does any Mod know that the opening post to this thread is wrong?! :

I’m a little worried about Salah running at Maguire, but the rest I think we can at least match them player for player on current form. I suspect Bailly will get booked or sent off and Henderson will be at Bruno from minute one. I suspect a draw.

Who would be the 3rd CB? Is Lindelof still injured? Would he trust Axel enough?
    Shaw.

My worry is if we go 4231 then Pogba will be on the left drawn central again or Rashford lack of tracking back causing issues on the other side with Mane. Fred and McT getting drawn out to the wings to help as they do then that vacated space being exploited as Pogba and Bruno are slow to get in to a defensive shape.

Firmino dropping in to the hole leaving 2 CB’s getting dragged about where 3 will provide more cover.

feck it, let's go at them.
    Ddg
    Awb Maguire Bailly Shaw
    Fred VdB
    Pogba Bruno
    Rashford Martial

With United players, the press and pundits all talking up chances of us winning the title, you can put your house on is getting beat tomorrow.
I’ve gone for 2-0 and all the talk on Monday will be what we still need and how easy it was for Liverpool to win.

I fear the same. I think there is a good chance we get schooled tomorrow.

That is what 7 years of s**t does to people.
It will take some time to get confidence back to Caf and Caftards.
A game like that you should never be confident but I do trust Ole and the players for now. I think they can keep the focus. We keep the focus, we will score one more than them. Also, the team has the belief.

Anyone know if Klopp has been rotating his players well? Tried to find a Liverpool supporter on this page and scrolled up for some time.
