I can't see anything other than a Leicester win. I'm already focusing on the Europa League.

Just be glad we don't have to win to go through. I'd be a lot more worried then.
As it is, against a defence who not only have 3 of their 4 regulars out, but also have their second choice left back out, plus Maddison, we really have no excuse.

I can deal with a loss. I just don't want to go out on a lameass performance, comedy of errors, litany of injuries or dodgy officiating.

That being said I firmly believe we'll get a draw at least. I would love it if Wolves did a number on Chelsea too. Chelsea dropping out in the 89th minute would be fecking glorious.

So there are nine possible outcomes this weekend, defined by our three possible outcomes with Leicester and Chelsea's three possible outcomes. With a 15 goal advantage over Chelsea and a point point difference between us and the Foxes, GD will NOT come into play.

If we win, we're 3rd. (three good outcomes)

If we draw, and Chelsea loses or draws, we're 3rd. (two more good outcomes)

If we draw, and Chelsea wins, we're 4th behind Chelsea. (one good enough outcome)

If we lose and Chelsea loses, we're 4th behind Leicester. (one more good enough outcome)

If we lose and Chelsea wins or draws, we're 5th. (two bad outcomes)

We are so in the driver's seat here.

What I struggle with in terms of this match the most is that we made changes for the Chelsea game as players needed rotating due to tiredness.

It didn't work ok fine, CL is more important than winning the Fa Cup but when we played W.Ham we looked even more lethargic.

Yes I can moan and complain but the team should have seen that match as the final. Leaving it against a direct rival is just dangerous which ever way you want to spin it.

If we turn up looking tired with no press it won't end well.

What worries me is not Leicester out playing us. We have better players than them. They are going to flood the midfield. They they have the pace up front on a race with our midfield and our defense.
Pogba making a mistake near our box. Sometimes I feel as if DeGea has no brain. He put the defense under unwanted pressure. Why is that we have no leaders on the pitch? The old United team would have already crucified Pogba and DeGea on the pitch long time ago.

Biggest game for a while now (won't go as far as 2008 CL final though). Unfortunately, it will end with a 2-1 win for Leicester. :(

The changes were all wrong and we still had our full team out in the second half. Fernandes and Rashford played a full game and it shows.

Does that work with modern players though, and in particular those players? I'm not sure Pogba would respond well to that, I think if he got a rollicking by his teammates he'd go into his shell and play within himself in the second half.

I think Pogba is the definition of a player who needs an arm around him, and I would like to think Ole and the senior players know that and at half time went "come on Paul, get your head up and show us why you're our best player, help win us the second half!"

Dunno how De Gea would go, maybe he could use a rocket up his ass.

Feel like might be a good idea to start with Bruno on the bench. He's seemingly gone from taking chances to make things happen to being just careless with the ball and not really being effective like he was. Go with pogba more advanced and start with Fred and matic deeper to give a better overall control in that midfield. Gives a lot of flexibility with how to introduce Bruno. Could bring on Bruno for a wide forward if we are winning or sub one of Fred/ matic if we need to chase the game. Feel like this strategy would be best in not making it easy for Leicester to hit us on the counter

I want us to finish above Chelsea and them losing against Arsenal in FA cup final. Please football gods.

Vardy will score at least one goal on the counter, and Perez will dispossess Pogba in a dangerous position to create another.

I think we'll have to score at least two goals to stay in the match. I have faith in Greenwood getting one of those goals. But our future will depend on Martial or Rashford getting the other.

Leicester has to go all gung-ho from the get-go. They cant be parking the bus till the 70th minute before going all out.

We just wait and counter-punch/attack from the start. Then more of the same if we get the crucial 1st goal.

They have a pretty immobile centre of defence but physical which is where out set pieces vulnerability are.

I know I fecking want a win, but it irritates me that it can possible help Chelsea if they lose themselves!
But don't trust wolves enough, so just best we try and smash they by a few please.

    A well reasoned assessment.
I too am more concerned with us than Leicester.
Rogers is well aware of our weaknesses and will have drilled his players well.

Assuming Pogba plays, they will close him down and force mistakes.
And they will work out Fernandez.

Can Martial get the better of their centre backs.

Can we play at a high enough intensity.
But. Most of all. Do we want it enough to out run, out play and out fight them.

Caglar Soyuncu completes a three-game ban, while Ben Chilwell, Ricardo Pereira, James Maddison, Daniel Amartey and Christian Fuchs remain sidelined - plus they have a 35 year old and Utd reject in the centre of their defence.

We had little or no chance of getting top 4 in January and look at the missing players from their line up - I know they've had a bit extra rest but our injury list is considerably better and Ole must make some changes in the midfield plus I would leave Rashford until the 2nd half and give him a full on 45 minutes. Our chances increase even more with Shaw back in the team.

I'm very confident of a strong 2-1 victory and always in control during the match - an early goal by us and they could fall apart but we don't need to push too hard. Control is the key - FFS it's Brendan Rogers !!

14pts behind Leicester in 3rd after 25 matches. Its been a hell of a fightback. Just need to get over the line now and I believe we will. However I expect it to be nervy and for us to concede. We never do things the easy way.

Leicester are very good at pressing so it'll be hard for us to control the match really. I feel people are underestimating Leicester on here because of a few bad results but having watched a couple of games of them recently I feel they're a good team playing good football. Could go either way this.

Question is, do we go with 2 or 3 CB's?

    2 CB surely.

I'd rather we play a 4-2-2-2 and leave greenwood on the bench, in case we need a goal. Could start with a double pivot of Mctominay and Fred with pogba and bruno in front of them.

Both rashford and martial to lead the line as mobile strikers. That leaves a few options on the bench also, in case we need to change things around.

Do we have three fit CB’s? In any case I hope we play our normal formation but play McT and Fred to get a hold of the game! Can’t be doing with Pogba constantly giving the ball away on the edge of our own box

I can see this hapening. 1-1 with Leicester and the Wanderers turn the rents over.

The only positive I can think of about our previous performance against West Ham is the hope our players will have plenty of energy for Sunday.

We should be able to get the result we need. Everything suggests that on paper. This thought terrifies me though, because we all know expect the unexpected when it comes to football.

If Spurs v Leicester game is anything to go by then their defence is pretty weak. They'll need everything going their way on the day to get a result. If we get an early goal the wheels will come off for Leicester.

The only issue I see is Leicester exploiting the space between De Gea and our central defenders. it's vital our defence doesn't allow Vardy space to run behind and counter. If Leicester scores an early goal I fear Vardy will cause issues all game with us trying to get back on level terms allowing Vardy space.

Leicester's agening defence will not fancy the idea of Rashford, Martial, and Greenwood running at them. Leicester must score and must win the game so they must attack us which will play into our hands. An early goal for us would be crucial.

I expect a very tight first half played at slow tempo, neither team can afford to lose a goal.

My biggest fear is that we have 0-0 at half time and that we start to play for a draw, allowing them score a late goal in the 2nd half, leaving us with just a few minutes to score an equalizer.

I really hope Shaw is back fully fit for this game. Badly missed him at LB. Starting XI pretty much has to be our best XI. Just hope for one more final push from the lads. Avoid defeat and that’s all that matters. Leicester’s injury problems to their key players gives me confidence that we can get the result that we need.
