So where as only 4 days ago Rooney was the go to man to rescue something against Hull, now he doesn't even make the bench.

I'm not calling for Rooney to be in the team, anything but. Just displaying that Jose really doesn't have a clue what he's doing at the moment.

....oh, I think he probably does....I mean...he has history you know.....of, well...winning things.

Awful lot of overreaction about Martial's omission but isn't the recent treatment of Carrick stranger?

Everything this season points to us being significantly better when he plays but recently he's either been left out or been the first player substituted if we're not winning at half-time.

I'm sorry but I absolutely loathe this word.

They're professional football players who are held to standard dictated by their manager. I'm a huge Carrick fan and a huge Martial fan but dropping them for a few games doesn't amount to "treatment". It's a completely normal thing in football to be out of favour and often it's for something the fans don't have the first clue about.

Or he was just realy dissapointed in how Rooney played. What else did he do apart from that air-shot?

Has it ever occurred to some of you that perhaps Rashford is showing more and/or working harder than Martial in training?

Let's hope Martial gets minutes today and does well. We need him in last season's form.
I'd say at this point it's a certainty.

it is being report that Rooney is ill, I see no reason to doubt that.

better ignore a player fanboy like @BringNaniBack . ah as long as we win today, I dont care whether anthony is starter or on the bench.

I just want us to play our best team and clearly our best team includes Martial. If we win I am happy, Martial or no Martial but IMO we are more likely to win with him in the team.

Who cares about something as irrelevant as training? Mourinho should pick his team based on who redcafe posters like best.

You were happy with a draw against Hull then I take it? Clearly we would of been more likely to win that game had Martial been playing.

This seems like he's finally started to get a clue. Rooney should be nowhere NEAR our first attacking sub every game.

Now only if Martial gets to start a match.

Do you honestly believe you know more about management than Mourinho or are you just venting?

    Christ on a fecking bike

So depressing reading this thread. Sooo many 'football Einsteins' here. To bad you are sitting on your couch, and not in the tehnical area instead of that idiot of a manager.
    Jeez. Football fans today, eh.

Jose is an arrogant sod, partly why he's been so successful over the years. I think its fair to say that part of the reason why Martial isn't starting is Mourinho's ego and wanting to prove to everyone that he'll do it his way. Clearly, he sees the players day in day out so there may be a good reason why he is on the bench yet again.....

I'm also concerned about not having 3 in midfield especially because Leicester is a counter attacking team who can be lethal especially at home.

Whatever the formation is, Jose still doesn't know his best team and this is a worry for the rest of the season irrespective of what the outcome is today.

    Some points to think about.

    1) Rooney is past it and the whole world can see that expect Jose who needed to watch Rooney 45min performance . Did a world class manager need 6 months to know your players ?

    2) I have no issues with martial on the bench. Guess rashford put in loads of magnificent performance and worth of keeping the place ! Bulshit Jose !

    3) Jose should have a word with himself !!

Note : Jose vision is always a team of well established professionals . Guess we have to keep on spending .

I've already said as much when I said that Lingard has different expectation to Martial and as such Martial is required to play at a higher level. That's how you motivate individuals.

Rooney should still be running the show, he's barely running at the minute. Absolute potato.

I have to disagree. When playing for Man United, every player, despite how much you're on, should have the same expectations. If not, then you shouldn't be at the club.

Also, if Lingard didn't hold the same expectation as Martial, he wouldn't get half the stick he currently gets. A lot of people, although I don't agree, say he shouldn't be at United. But hey, Lingard is on less than Martial, so it's ok if he plays shite.

Rooney, despite not being the player he used to be, has earned the wage he is on. He was better when he first come here, but he wasn't getting the same amount. He is getting that now because of the time and effort he has put in to this club and has been rewarded with a nice wage.

Think the problem today is that young players, like your Martial's, Pogba's, etc, get too much too quickly, and sometimes it seems that their motivation isn't there. You only have to look at the two players I've mentioned. Fantastic players, but lack motivation at times. People will moan about Rooney, but it's not something he was given straight away, it was something he had to earn. Pogba already earns nearly as much, if not more than Rooney, and he hasn't done half of what Rooney has done at United.

He's ill mate but no doubt you'll turn that into something else

I'm hopeful. The Caf are despondent, this only means good things are a coming.

Surely there needs to be a vetting process for these threads ?

Match Day threads have always been largely hilariously shite affairs but this season there is no hilarity. I said it in the Hull one. Absolute abortion of a thread.

I'm not concerned about Carricks' feelings. I'm more interested in the team's results.

Clearly, everything points to us being a better team when he plays so it seems odd to leave him out because of a couple of average games when others will always play regardless of performance.
