    Early United team news
It’s understood Michael Carrick has been dropped for today’s game.

Carrick has been substituted at half-time in his last two league starts against Liverpool and Hull.

His demotion could signal a switch to 4-2-3-1.

Just minutes after prediction closed, this comes out. And I decided to put him in last minute.

/no Carrick... great start to the afternoon:rolleyes:

Please don't have swapped out Carrick for Fellaini.

    Confirmed United squad members
    Here are 16 of them:

    De Gea

    Romero

    Henderson

    Darmian

    Bailly

    Rojo

    Herrera

    Fellaini

    Pogba

    Lingard

    Young

    Mata

    Mkhitaryan

    Ibrahimovic

    Rashford

    Martial

How come there are always a couple who sneak past their eagle eyes.?

I actually want to see Fellaini for this match. He got all the technique and gracefulness of a drunk Bronchosaurus, but atleast he isn't mentally frail.

Carrick shouldn't be needed in a game like today. 4231, get an early goal and dominate.

Please, for the love of God, just get 3 points.

Absolutely sick to the teeth of not capitalising when teams above us drop points.

    Players unaccounted for
Three more outfield players will make the squad today.

Still unclear who out of Valencia, Fosu-Mensah, Smalling, Jones, Shaw, Blind, Carrick, Schweinsteiger and Rooney have been omitted.

Except Jones was accounted for by Jose.

Not confident today based on recent history.. teams character has to show up, today will be telling for which of our main players have the mentality to be at this club (i'll give the youngsters a break, but the big guys HAVE to turn up). Leicester will be well up for it

Ye. We did look more threatening in a 4231, though.

Yep I have no problem with a 4-2-3-1 against the weaker teams. Just don't like that is is certain players that are always dropped ie Carrick, Martial, when the likes of Pogba and others have been far worse in recent games.

/no Carrick... great start to the afternoon:rolleyes:
I'd rather he didn't play. A midfield of Pogba, Herrera plus one of Mata/Fellaini would be a great statement of intent. This is a must win and Leicester aren't a good side this season. We need to gamble here, and two sitting midfielders isn't necessary.

Fine. Let's hope it works out then.

Forgot my lineup. Ah well I think that's me done for the season, been a terrible season for me anyway :(

Pogba deserves to be dropped. has been awful for a number of games now

Hope Shaw and Martial play on the left side

    Even more news.

    Rooney OUT
Wayne Rooney was absent from Manchester United’s squad who arrived at Leicester City’s King Power stadium for the match against the Foxes.

The Reds captain had remained behind in Manchester whilst manager Jose Mourinho’s squad had travelled to the East Midlands for their overnight stop in Leicester.

It was unclear whether the 31-year-old striker was injured or was ill. Mourinho was set to clear up the reason for Rooney’s absence in his pre-match interviews for TV.

They were probably being discreet with their sidechicks.

No Rooney, No carrick and No shaw

    I hope the team is
    ---------De gea------------
    -valencia---bailly--rojo---left back
    ---------Herrera---pogba---------
    --Mkhi------mata----------Martial
    -----------Swedish hero----------

West Brom beat these at the King Power. Come on.

Disappointing if Shaw isn't even in the squad. No idea why Carrick's not there either.

Pogba deserves to be dropped. has been awful for a number of games now

WHo replaces Pogba then? We're hardly littered with quality midfielders to choose form.

Mourniho making Carrick the scapegoat when he hasn't played at all badly. It should have been Pogba taken off at half time against Hull if it was based off performance.

Nah it isn't he is making him the scapegoat but as people have said in other threads, the 4-3-3 is not working.

The other formation doesn't allow Carrick to sit and play like the 4-3-3 allows.

I have no issues with this and would like to see Pogba/Herrera with Mata ahead of them.

    More rumours.

    United to change up front?
Rumour is Ibrahimovic and Rashford will start up front today.

I hope not. Unless Rashford is going to play ahead with Ibra as a second striker, then this would be foolish. Martial is a better option out wide, and Rashford's inclusion would have to be at his expense.

My following post agreed that I am happy for us to play 4-2-3-1 against the weaker sides. I just question Mourinho's persistent dropping of only certain players, ie Carrick, Martial. While the likes of Pogba and Zlatan get special treatment.

I do get why he would drop Carrick to play a more attacking team in a 4-2-3-1 though.
