I hold him to a high standard so maybe I expect better too. But I don't think there's much to say re: that goal. Just a cracking header that he probably didn't even expect. Was hit with power too

I think Blackett has given van Gaal a luxury problem. Blackett is functioning well and now he can simply replace Rojo with Shaw without messing around the positions too much.

Space that he created himself. First through his directness and pace, and secondly by running by Cambiasso, who is no Usain Bolt. I think this is an area we could target more in the second half. With Leicester's high pressing, fatigue should set in, especially if we keep the ball a bit better. And Leicester have quite a few older players, which could free up some space for us.

I can't say that Rooney has put a foot wrong so far as he's been making things happen in that position. I agree that Mata needs to play also but we need the extra man in midfield tracking back in this match which Rooney does well.

Rojo is having a bit of a mare today. He looked better against QPR though. Hopefully just an off game.

Yes true but I think he needs to improve on his dueling. Passing is no issue. Some of my Arse friends are already calling him the arteta of united :lol:

I mainly wanted to defend blackett. He is young and is playing a good game and will hopefully improve even more.

I'm wondering why we ain't playing shaw instead of rojo. Not convinced by rojo atm

Imo, that was a poor first half performance. We've been fortunate that Leicester have defended poorly, but they look like scoring again. Blackett has been fantastic since Evans went off (a bit iffy before that). Rojo has been dreadful imo (and I thought he was poor defensively against QPR also even though people were praising him) and I hope he's replaced with Shaw soon. Rafael has also been poor. The defence needs to improve or we will concede again. We're not using the midfield correctly. No proper build up play (I do think Mata would have helped here) and the team just isn't playing the way we did against QPR. Rooney hasn't been great, RVP poor. Falcao has done well. Di Maria has done both good and bad, but his goal was incredible! I hope to see a better performance in 2nd half.

Do not expect anything solid from him at LB, he is not good there. That's not his position, he plays much better as a CB.

Unfortunately two goals in the first half should put you in control of the match, but not today. Our back four were pretty poor. Rafael did little, the other three made too many mistakes. Blackett at least did some positive stuff to address the balance, but I think the goal was his fault.

Blind has had to put in a shift to cover the back four. If he hadn't I doubt we'd be in front.

Add to that another injury to Evans and what should be a walk in the park looks like being a really tough 45 minutes.

I think Blackett was least at fault out of the defenders for the goal. Why do you blame him?
