The players are the problem. We have strikers who don't score goals, 'creative players' who are selfish, too many players who can't actually pass a football, players who can't run, players who have no stamina, players who have no in-game intelligence to adapt to the problems that they face on the pitch and problem solve, and players who don't seem committed to winning games. That is when they're actually fit and available.
