Dalot has been quite shite. Just does not seem to have any sense of passing capabilities.

Knew it, nobody can mark Hutchison. Casemiro and Eriksen are just passengers. Why do you start 2 oldies who has zero leg?

Because Mainoo is just back from injury and Ugarte was late back from international duty.

How can VAR look at a flying elbow in an opponent’s face and say “nothing to see here”. It’s ridiculous, burn it to the ground already.

It's absolutely not what you're thinking, for a start I'm black! Did you never watch the cartoon? It's a play on his name. You should take a second to think about your own mind if that's where you immediately go to

Your explanation is far from obvious. For example I have no idea about which cartoon you are talking about.

Casemiro and Ericksen are just too slow to both be in. I’m assuming Ugarte and Marino both out due to fitness but they have to be the 2.

Amorim sure has his work cut out for himself with this squad. This looks almost exactly like the ETH days, no work rate and close to zero technical ability.

i think it’s a Dutch manager thing. Theyre obsessed with it.
Could very well be. I like to think of those things conceptually, but as a way to try different compositions. I like how Kompany has Guerreiro at RB, for instance.

And sure, in many cases it can help to have someone comfortable with specific things in specific contexts... but contexts aren't that malleable nor static. Now with the rise of inverted wingbacks, it's really not that weird that Timber and Tomiyasu could be better options than Zinchenko at LB. Just like that doesn't mean Dalot is a better option than Shaw in that role. At the core, it's just a different choice. (It helps that Shaw is better, but in the case of considering player types and the needs for your team, or the sychronization between team members' natures and customs)

Besides, while I can see Ake being more comfortable at LCB, I can imagine a player like Alaba minding an RCB position much less. Just like most people would place Van Dijk at LCB over RCB, for a while the same for Maguire. But because of (much) more than their preferred foot on paper.

I liked Van Gaal's belief in his plans, but some of that stuff was so stuck to that stuff and outdated (and I assume pulled out of a lot of context) statistics. Now it's finally getting out of their systems, but so many people took after him and Cruijf and Michels. Sure, for good reason, but eventually you'll become like an artist who just does something because they've seen it work.

Sure it works, but 1) it worked for someone else, and; 2) just because something works doesn't mean it's the only thing that works.
Rules aren't natural laws. In fact, they usually have their expiry dates, usually shown through cracks or when someone outlandish shows up with some crazy ideas and then proves that it's the normal that didn't make sense. In the 90s that dude was Van Gaal, in the 10s it was basically anyone else. It was rather coaches like Simeone. In the 20s, it's definitely not Simeone.

If that’s one of ours, it’s a red card. Leading with the elbow. VAR not on our side again.

Well deserved TBH. Ipswich have been the better team, more decisive in possession and full of energy on and off the ball.

We’re lost in the middle and our backs are still punting it long often than necessary.

Looks more like an ETH experiment at 3-4-3.

Not getting carried away though. It’s the first time they’ve played this formation so it’s early days blah blah

We severely need an engine in the midfield. Those two senior citizens can’t keep up.

I thought playing the team in 19th position along with the new manager bounce would make for an easy 3 points

Casemiro and Eriksen have been awful. Starting Eriksen was a mistake. I get that Ugarte was probably tired but he needs to be brought in for Eriksen at half time.

Part of the issue is that we ideally need just the one player who can do Casemiro and Eriksen's jobs. They're taking up two spots when one player will do. The next players we buy have to do more mobile/athletic and more technically gifted.

It's the 2 in front of the CM who are contributing absolutely nothing
The problem we have is we don't have the players to play the system. So this is gonna happen. Philosophies are good but we previously learnt though the Van Gaal era that flexibility has to be employed within that. It became so farcical with Van Gaal that Di Maria played in some ridiculous positions. Mostly out of position. Garnacho looks a wee bit lost when not playing as an out and out winger.

Get taken out by the people's elbow then punished by having your team play their way out from the back for 30 secs before he's allowed back onto the pitch. PL refs, never change.

Delap's totally fair and natural elbow to the face, now a totally fair and natural shove when the ball is out of play.

    Love VAR, love refs.

Eriksen and cas Def need to not be starting in midfield. Been a bit disappointed though with how invisible Bruno has been for the entire game so far. Legitimately forget he's been playing

Delap is going to go this whole match being an absolute cnut and won’t receive a single card for it.

It's absolutely not what you're thinking, for a start I'm black! Did you never watch the cartoon? It's a play on his name. You should take a second to think about your own mind if that's where you immediately go to
I didn’t, and if so then fair enough. Can’t say I agree with your last sentence though.

Deflection on that goal certainly made the difference. Too many of these Man United players have a habit of falling asleep in matches time to wake up now to earn the three points.
