Hull gripped by EFL Cup fever

    7:14 PM - 26 Jan 2017

go United! 0-2 win. dont really care with Martial case. I trust Jose with his decision. this feels like mkhi problem. I only can hope that Martial always has strong drive and determination to show why Jose must make him starter for each match and it's very big mistake to drop him. go Martial, keep spirit!

So if it's 2-2 on aggregate and Lingard scores the winner, you'll be fed up?

The state of some of you here :wenger:
Haha I've just pretty much said the same, he's odds on to score now isn't he
Really would like him to have a good game.

Won't change my opinion because one swallow does not make a summer and all that

That WBA assist basically killed our attacking fluency and finishing for half a dozen games afterwards. If only Martial got the opportunities Lingard gets after an average performance..
The next 6 games after WBA he played 139 minutes. 2 starts, 1 off the bench, 1 unused sub and 2 not in the squad. Won every match he played in. Strange how Martial doesn't get the opportunities of Lingard when Martial plays more.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course - I don't think Lingard will ever become a regular starter. But his pace will worry defences if brought on as a sub etc.

Mourinho has got the lineup wrong. Four of our most defensive defenders in there, it lacks creativity and our midfield is stretched as it is with the amount of games and yet we start with the three strongest midfielders who will need to often go wide since there is a lack of width from our fullbacks.

Sure, Rashford, Pogba and Zlatan could score goals and make this entertaining but I am not holding my breath. At best we're going to win 1-0.

On the contrary we're 2-0 up and they have to come and attack us. Having a strong back four sitting deeper plus Carrick to soak up the pressure creates a lot of space for us to counter attack which is why we've got Rashford and Lingard out wide.

We'll be looking to break forward at breakneck speed tonight and Carrick will be the man unlocking it.

Hmmm all I can say is that from the amount of games he is giving Phil Jones methinks he might be Mourhino's preferred option to partner Bailly long term. Providing of course that Jones can stay fit. I'd not be surprised if Jose is looking towards him being his Utd equivalent of John Terry. Certainly imagine he's coming onto Southgates radar given his current form.

Hopefully it will be a comfortable night for us.

As for Martial's absence in Jose I trust. I'm sure he knows a lot more than we do.:)

Pogba needs to do something tonight. Last time he played he was woeful. Needs to bounce back.

What is Phil Neville talking about? Why would this be No.1 priority? Ughhh.

Have the line ups been announced yet? Can't see posts that have twitter at work. Would someone threadmark it once we have a confirmation?

Yes I think Jones is ahead of Smalling just now. Probably ahead of Rojo too though not certain about that.

    Mourinho: We will attack
Jose Mourinho has done his pre-match interview.

I’ve told my team the game is open. For sure Hull City players still have hopes and dreams. We have to play to win the match. We cannot defend for 90 minutes. The players are really motivated. We’ve had a difficult run to get in this position and a final is always important.

He also said something about it being Jose's strongest team. Yeah spot on Phil...
Apart from Valencia, Shaw, Bailly, Martial and Mkitaryan!

Because every two situations are the same. How simple
Did I say they were? The point is that the same people continue to assume the worst for whatever reason. The pessimism's tiring.

Good lineup, we haven't been to convincing recently, so we need to build some more momentum again. Can't risk a confidence blow at this time of the season.

Think the result will be closer than most people predict.

Starting 30% of our games is bad enough, hence my hope for other players getting on the scoresheet. He'll get 50 appearances this season, scoring or assisting in every 8th game to keep him in Mourinho's good graces. I prefer squad players who can actually contribute and got talent which can evolve.
