Valencia, Shaw and Rooney the stand outs out of those who didn't travel. Micky injured and I assume Jones is too, which is just terrible timing for him.

Shaw went off with a slight hamstring injury against City.

All of them probably rested (apart from the mentioned injured like Mkhitaryan and Jones). Though will be interesting to see how we line up. Reckon it'll be like a 50/50 split of changes and the players we've seen so far so something like this...
Also possibly Romero in goal for De gea but not sure on that one. Fosu Mensah, Schneiderlin and Martial to be used as subs.
    De gea
    Darmian Smalling Blind Rojo
    Herrera Carrick
    Young Mata Memphis
    Rashford

    Id like to see this:
    De Gea
    Mensah Smalls Blind Rojo
    Carras Herrera
    Mata Pogba Martial
    Rashford

    Romero
    Darmian--Smalling--Blind--Rojo
    Herrera--Carrick--Schneiderlin
    Mata--Rashford--Memphis

subs: De Gea, Bailly, TFM, Pogba, Young, Martial, Ibrahimovic

Hopefully TFM, Young and Martial off the bench.

No Rooney is surprising, but the rest all have knocks of some kind (Shaw, Mkhitaryan, Jones) or played a lot, along with less time back from internationals (Valencia). Or, in the case of Lingard they had probably the worst performance of any player so far this season.

This is probably going to be Jose experimenting with a more traditional 433 to see how it works. He has an excuse as it's a reasonably tough away game.

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Blind Rojo
    Herrera Carrick Pogba
    Mata Rashford Martial
    ---
Romero; Bailly, Fosu-Mensah; Schneiderlin, Fellaini; Memphis, Ibrahimovic

    Johnstone and Young left out.

If we can establish a lead and control, bring on Schneiderlin for Pogba after an hour, and give Memphis a run out. Big TFM for the last 15 if all goes well.

I think we will put out a strong team to regain the confidence after the derby loss

    De Gea
    Darmian-Bailly-Smalling-Blind
    Pogba-Carrick-Herrera
    Rashford-Ibra-Memphis

I think I'm leaning towards a team like this as well. This game is proving difficult for prediction as I have no idea how much mourinho is gonna change. Only think I would like is to see Memphis from the start because his best performances in a Utd shirt have been in Europe so I think he could have a good game.

So Rooney and Micki not traveling would surely mean that Mata starts as #10?

Jose needs to be careful, too many changes will disrupt the squad and we could end up losing, look at what happened vs City.

    DDG
    TFM-Bailly-Blind-Rojo
    Hererra-Schniederlin-Pogba
    Mata-Rashford-Martial

With Rooney and Micki out it will be interesting to see if Jose persists with 4-2-3-1 and puts Mata at #10 or if we get a 4-3-3 with Mata at RW and a Carrick/Herrera/Pogba midfield.

I also hope he plays Smalling and Bailly together as we know how both play with Blind but haven't seen them paired yet.

On the other hand, certain players need a rest for the weekend. Pogba, Bailly and Blind being the obvious candidates.

Pogba needs to be playing, he has had no pre-season with us and needs to build an understanding as to what Jose wants from him.
Yeah, that's a good point. Hopefully in a three man midfield with Herrera and Carrick. Having said that, Schneiderlin needs game time too. Good problem to have.
