I don’t know where some of these players play as haven’t seen much of the U23’s play. So don’t shoot the messenger if I’ve put 1-2 players in the wrong positions! Really looking forward to watching this as not seen many of these players play before.

    Starting XI

    Grant

    Laird
    Fosu-Mensah
    Tuanzebe
    Shaw

    Levitt
    Garner

    Lingard
    Gomes
    Ramazani

    Greenwood

    subs:
    Kovar
    Taylor
    Mengi
    Galbraith
    Puigmal
    Chong
    Mellor

    Score Prediction:
    FC Astana 0-2 Manchester United

I've seen conflicting reports that TFM has travelled - do you know if he definitely has? Would love to see him make a comeback.

Initially MEN paper reported Fosu Mensah is travelling, shame he isn't.

Also it's important for players like Tuanzebe and Shaw to get 90 mins.

    I would love to see

    Kovar
    Larid Tuanzebe Mengi Shaw
    Levitt Garner
    Ramazani Gomes Cong
    Greenwood

It will be Lingard in place of Ramazani and Grant in place of Kovar, which would be shame. I don't see the point of playing Grant who is now more of a GK coach than player.
I doubt Shaw will get 90 mins. 60 mins max.

Just phoned my sister and she confirmed it was Callum Gribbin who I used to admire back then. He moved up to the under 23s in 2018 but Finished because of injuries.
This young man had everything needed to be a top top player. But had bad luck with injuries. Thanks @roonster09 .
He's also an arrogant shit who refused to play other than for the first team. Funny seeing him for Sheffield United's u23s. Maybe he's finally got his head out of his ass.

    Grant
    Laird Tuanzebe Bernard Shaw
    Garner Levitt
    Chong Lingard Gomes
    Greenwood

    It's an interesting team.

Did he get too cocky then @limerickcitykid . I liked him a lot but I didn't hear anything about him being cocky. Came back home in 2016 after a bypass, but still travel over to my sister in Altrincham. I watched him a lot with Rashford, Fosu, and Tuanzebe then, in 14/15

Yea he was always regarded as cocky but last season he was banished early on in the season. People close to the club say he refused to play for the u23s and demanded to be in the first team. The staff were generally fed up with him and he never appeared at any level again. He had talent but was incredibly full of himself.

    Grant
    Laird Tuanzebe Bernard Shaw
    Garner Levitt
    Chong Lingard Gomes
    Greenwood

    It's an interesting team.
I'm most interested in seeing Laird and Levitt, along with more of Garner than anyone else.

Hope the game isn't a drab affair and we go after some goals

CB. Frankly not much good and regularly make stupid mistakes. Surprised he's playing over Mengi who is easily better.

Indeed, would love to see Mengi play and make his first team debut. In my opinion Bernard doesn’t make as many mistakes as he did before but absolutely should be behind Mengi in pecking order.

I'm sure not many forumites involved in the Line-Up Prediction table will get more than 3-4 correct in the starting lineup - most of these players are not listed as an option. Mods - can you please update the squad in the line-up prediction section to include players that have traveled?

    Thanks

Can’t wait to see Levitt at this level. If given the space, he’ll do well

I'd rather see 11 kids lose 4-0 than see Mata, Lingard, Young etc lose 1-0.

in a game that is irrelevant like this one, I would rather see 11 kids lose 4-0 than Mata and co winning this game 1-0 via a dodgy penalty playing dull football...

Hopefully we'll see abit of Ramazani tomorrow night.
    Like the look of him.

We aren't winning one way or another. It's gonna be -20 in Kazakh winter against a team that at times, held their own against mostly our first team in Manchester. Even the likes of Mata would draw 0-0 at best, probably lose 1-0. The kids will get a hammering but I don't care, give them game time and take some slack of the first teamers - it might toughen them up too.

Do you really think that? our reserve squad is very good. Most of these lads have played in front of big crowds before so that won't be an issue.

I personally think we will win by 2-3 goals.
Yeah. Let’s hope i am wrong and we win and the young lads get a taste for the first team.

Do Astana play on plastic pitches or actual grass?

I bloody hate plastic pitches and I hope Astana don’t use one. That AZ one was a shocker. The ball looked as if it was travelling 100mph on the surface!

Someone else told me in response to a concern about a frozen pitch that they use astroturf.. So "plastic"

The #OleOutPochin brigade is salivating since the travelling team has been announced. Twitter is going to be awful tomorrow and to be avoided like plague if we lose.

I think Garner and Mejbri are the most obvious midfield contenders for the first team in a long long time. They're superb footballers. Undecided on Levitt. He's a classy player but not quite sure if he's United level. Puigmal and Galbraith haven't a hope in my opinion.
Take a look 3 years back and tell me who predicted that Scott McTominay will have a future here.

The weather won’t be an issue

it’s in a stadium with a roof and the heating on, it’ll feel just like a normal day.

Yeah, I kept seeing those posts and wondering what they were talking about. It's almost like they haven't actually read any of the real news information out there about this match. Kinda goes with a lot of things around here, though. Ole can announce in a press conference that so-and-so had to stay home due to a knock and, immediately, ten people will put out a line-up that includes so-and-so.

    @Niall @Damien

Apologies if you have already answered this but is the lineup predictor going to be getting updated with the youngsters that have travelled to Kazakhstan for this game or are we giving it a miss for this game and no points will be awarded as it’s quite a hassle to update?

Was going to ask the same, at least two players not on the lineup predictor that will be starting tomoro.
