I just don't get the shifting Lindelof to right back thing... I'd say at least it isn't Young in the starting XI but Lindelof didn't exactly excel when played there.
Young has been terrible and Shaw is suspended no? Dalot plays on the left, who plays on the right then if not for Lindelof?

Smalling and Jones at CB equals certain defeat.

    Season over after this game.

I really like that front 6. It's only really at right back that the lineup looks a little iffy. But then I think Rashford on the right is only possible because he has the security of Lindelof behind him. Wings and roundabouts.

I'm really, really hoping this works. It could solve a lot of very expensive problems for us.

Happy Young is out but Matic for Mctominay? Not happy with that! He's been our best player for the last month

    Where's McT?

Why are we playing Lindelof at RB again? Just use Darmian. Shame to see Matic back, knew he would be though. Front 3 was a coin toss as all our forwards are playing crap, I guessed Sanchez over Martial.
It's like we keep including Darmian in these squads just to make sure he doesn't escape without us knowing.

people mad about the defense, what did you expect?

Valencia is non option, Darmain has played no football, Young has been rightly dropped and Rojo and Bailly are shite.

Ole has gone with the only back four he has any trust in without Shaw. Lindelof is trusted other players that could of played such as Darmian are not and in Darmians case have no match fitness at all. You really want to risk a unfit player who is shite on the best of days in a must win game?

    come on

He plays Lindelof there for the defensive side, I guess. But the same can be said about Darmian. It's really a strange one.

The thing what ole does with full backs, i don't understand. Just pick Darmian. Or put Dalot on his natural position and Rojo on the left. And our best defensive pair stays together.

On this way we have; Dalot out of his natural position, Lindelof out of his natural position and Mike and Phil duo which is always disaster in big games

The defence selection makes sense. Darmian will be seriously lacking match fitness as it stands, so he'd likely have a nightmare against Everton.
Young has been dropped, that will do for me.

with Matic back in hope to see Pogba pushed further up.

no idea why he keeps selecting Mata, just put Greenwood or Chong in his place.

Happy Young is out but Matic for Mctominay? Not happy with that! He's been our best player for the last month
I’d like to think he’s being rested for City but my gut tells me Matic is being tested for a possible start against City.

Tough to see us winning this one to be honest. Everton will be up for it, and we will be knackered. Matic is hopefully in good condition, otherwise the toffees will fly past him.

I don't see this Everton side being better than us and beating us the same way Wolves did for example however I do worry about someone doing something stupid, like getting sent off or giving away a pen

If we're playing two DMs, it makes sense.

As much as I've enjoyed watching McTominay recently, he's not demonstrated an ability to read the game and screen the defence. I think Fred is there to sit and dictate from deep.

Ita not strange. You dont play an unfit Darmian, who is shite on the best of days in a must win game. Rojo is an accident waiting to happen. Ole has looked at the options and gone with his trusted players.

Okay that defense was shaky against Barca. Everton are not Barca. Ole has obviously decided that Lindelof out of position is stronger than an unfit Darmian who will be leaving anyway

Could we not try Sanchez at LB? Given how little he contributes up top combined with our ability to convert wingers to FB's and his workrate, it might see us get something for our cash.

Schnderlein starts for Everton.:nono: Michael Keane also returns, think that's a weak spot you can exploit.

Who's playing left back for Man. United or is it a back 3?
Dalot most likey. With Lindelof at RB in a back four.

How has Richarlison been doing recently? I take it he's no longer a POTS contender, but is he still as much of a danger as the last time we played Everton?

I expect Everton to do what they did against Arsenal and press really high and aggressively whilst using Calvert Lewin to hold up the ball and bring the likes of Richarlison and Bernard into the game.

Think Matic could be exposed. The ball needs to be cycled quickly and accurately by Pogba and Fred to the forwards.

Lindelof was excellent as a full back during the year Sweden won U21 Euro.

Hoppfully he pushes further forward making more runs than he did against Barcelona.

Have we had more than 30% possession in a game where McTominay starts? Maybe one. Dates all the way back to lowly Reading at home. Pogba also plays more withdrawn when McTominay plays. Fred is one of the few who can turn and pass it forward. I like that, even though that comes at the cost of Fred giving away one golden chance every game.

I like the midfield and the front 3. Finally Young has been dropped even though this defence looks iffy. I think we'll win this one.

I think the Matic thing has merit. I think maybe they are trying to double pivot so Pogba can roam and proberly feel that Matic and Fred offer more in releasing Pogba. McTominay might even used against City to try and stick to one of their midfielders. It could be a resting scenario.
