Finishing top 6 is not remotely any sort of achievement in this league in this season. Not with how awfully Spurs and Chelsea and Arsenal have performed. Wolves have been worse than last season as well.
Winning the Europa League would be a respectable achievement. In fact it would be absolutely the only thing that would make up for not finishing in the top four, in such a desperately shit season for all the main top four competitors. Playing CL football next season is absolutely the only metric with which to judge whether Ole stays in his job beyond the end of May.
But let's not forget what happened last season from mid-March onwards, before we get carried away.Surprised at the inclusion of Fernandes and Shaw primarily. Thought we'd see those 2 rested for sure. Hopefully we can get thr job done early so they can come out. Concerned at an over-reliance on Fernandes already.top 6 especially this 6 is not good at all. Look at the point totals. a 5h or 6th place finish has you finishing 8th-10th most other years.
Considering thw low points totals only top 4 should be acceptable. Have some standards.
Now if we win Europa and come 5th you can maybe let the shit league finish slide but CL is a must. Like the others, it should be CL or bust especially since its never been easier to make it.

Our squad is so thin/bad and inevitably getting thinner in the summer it wont be his last chance.
Think logically. Alexis and Smalling and likely Pogba are all but guaranteed outs. We buy 3 or 4 players max no matter what. We can't really afford to make the squad any thinner as shown by our injuries this season. Therefore we will get stuck having to keep 2 or most likely even 3 of Mata Andreas and lingard. And if they are here they will play sadly.
So unless youth magically goes straight into getting more minutes than Greenwood next year or we decided to spend big and go get 5 players then they will all still be here in my opinioon.Very happy with the selection all round. Good line up, with the right players rested.
