    de Gea

    Bastian Morgan
    Mata Herrera Martial
    Rooney

Not the lineup I would choose, but what I feel LvG will use.

It is a solid enough to get a victory, but i feel that the presence of Rooney pushing Martial to the wing is hampering us. I'm hoping Young can get some time on the LW with Martial move up top, as this would be my ideal lineup.

That is certainly our best team available but question marks over our front 3/4 are there for all to see.

Rumours doing the rounds that Rooney will not start.

He'll start, I'll put my mortgage on it. LVG is arrogant and stubborn, he wants to prove people wrong no matter what the cost

    DDG
    Valencia Smalling Jones Rojo
    Schneider Schwein
    Mata Herrera Young
    Martial

I'm sure LVG will play Rooney. But I don't care, I'm banking my luck on a long shot.

    Why wouldn't he start?
LVG has clearly stated on numerous occasions, that the captain ALWAYS plays.
He has also demonstrated this time and time again, by playing him for 90 minutes, even if he is coming back from injury.
There is no reason to believe that Rooney will not play and is probably the first name on today's team-sheet.

He could simply give the armband to Bastian, DDG, Carrick.. whoever. It's not rocket science.

It's really sad to think that Rooney not starting would be seen as a positive. I still don't see the obvious replacement. Pereira and Lingard? Really tough time for them to come in with the struggling to make chances. Young? Only just back from injury and not much chance to work with Martial.

I dunno' - it's so tempting to change my lineup prediction just on the offchance though.

    Hehehe.
So you think think LVG will strip Rooney of his captaincy AND drop him?
Seriously - you think this will happen?

Rooney and Carrick will face the drop, but Young will start.

That's what I'm hearing. Merely rumours though.

With Rooney in the team: Rooney = No.9. Martial = LW.
    Without Rooney: Martial = No.9, Young = LW, Herrera = No.10, Mata = RW.

The later, IMO, will allow us to score more goals. Of course there is no guarantee of this...but I think it will be more effective.
Our major problem right now is that we struggle to score goals. In the last 200+ minutes of play at OT, we have been unable to score a goal. Even our penalty taking is woeful, but that's a discussion for another day.

Not too happy Blind is back in. Jones injured again?

If he is, that is why we need to sign another CB in the summer.
Smalling's new found ability to stay fit gives me hope for Jones. Perhaps it was an age thing after all.

Now I've said that Smalling will probably get injured.

Well I'll be eatching the Aussies win the world cup (unlikely but i can hope) i can already predict what the post match report will be like after seeing that Rooney will be starting.

If Jones is injured then i think we should sell him at the end of this season. Im not factoring in his leg tumour, but he is still always injured.

If Blind playing it means LVG expects us to have a lot of the ball and Danny allows us to push up a few yards with his passing from the back.
Expecting a few goals here today

Once again shoving the best striker on the pitch who can actually hurt teams with his pace through the middle, on the wing, so that Rooney who will do absolutely nothing can start up top again...

Bolasie against Darmian? Darmian is not going to win on pace. It'll test him defensive too..

FFS Jones, man. He was actually starting to show good form too.
