I think he might, Martial was not fit on Saturday. Ten Hag said that in the press conference that Martial begged him to play, but he had to take him off at half-time because he was not 100%.

I think that we will see something click in a big way tonight, because Ten Hag has not been able to implement his desired tactical plan for the team, because the main striker is missing. We might see the final piece of the jigsaw slot into place and watch them go.

Still think there are a couple more pieces of the first XI jigsaw required such as attacking RB (Gusto) and progressive CM (Fernandez)

Can't afford to leave both on the bench though
Maybe not but it's the game for McT to step up, if he can't then they should bite the Geordies hands off

I still think it's worth giving Martinez a go as a CDM TBH

No one is a pushover for us yet, despite our improvement. This game will be tough.

As strong as team as possible please, if we can go 2/3 ahead then we can think about resting players. Just have to trust that Casemiro (and not so much Fred) to get away without a booking.

Keeping the pressure on Arse ahead of the weekend will have a bigger impact on the game against them than giving folk a rest at the moment imo.

Up until today, I was in the "rotate for Palace" camp but as we approach kickoff, I've changed my tune. Start Cas and Rashy and if we go 2 up (unlikely I know) hook them off. Even if it's after a quarter of an hour.

I wouldn't start Fred - he a walking yellow and we should be able to win here with a Cas-Eriksen-Bruno midfield but he will be critical against Arse.

I'd also start Licha with Varane with a view to that being the starting pairing against Arsenal and restore Shaw to LB at the weekend.

I'm not fussed about fullbacks this evening. Can be Malacia or Shaw, Dalot or AWB.

I'd love to see Weggy start up top tonight though. If he is a revelation then he can start against Arsenal as well. Otherwise Martial will be after recovering further for the weekend.

Palace made it tricky against Chelsea, their speed on the counter especially will be something we need to keep an eye on.

Recipe for a midfield yellow :wenger:

Will we all fecking behave if this doesnt go to plan? I expect a much changed signed a big drop off in performance. So chill the feck out if we only get a point.
Neh im going to lose my mind.

Always a tough game away this. Sandwiched in between two huge games it couldn’t be at a worse time really. Gotta be honest- I don’t know what the best way to play this one is. Rest players and risk dropping points, only to then maybe drop points at Arsenal? Or play the full works and get at least three in this game but risk injuries/ suspension for Arsenal. I’m torn. I’ll probably go with going for it.

Yeah hope he starts on bench but then also wouldn't want Fred out of Sunday either
Both matches are worth 3 points, as much as i'd like us to be full strength against Arsenal i'm not sure i'd want to play without him tonight.

We could go Eriksen/Mctominay but that's a big drop.

Yeah that's a huge drop for crucial league game

This is no time for benching anyone due to a fear of being suspended for Arsenal. On the other hand, we had a tough game four days ago and we have another tough game four days from now, and the job of midfielders is the most physically demanding on the pitch. If Casemiro is still recovering from City, that's a different issue.

Not much according to plan in football, but an ideal scenario would be we start at full strength and put Palace away 0-3 at halftime so we can sub off Casemiro and Fred and have everyone good to go for Arsenal. That would require finishing off our chances in the first half, which we were unable to do against City.

    Not sure about resting/rotating anyone.

We've had some brilliant results but the last three games I wouldn't say we've played all that well actually.

Not sure performance levels are currently high enough to withstand dropping a couple of the better players.

We could be on a 200 game winning run at home to Forest Green Rovers and the doom and gloom merchants would still be shouting about a potential banana skin. We're flying. We'll batter them.

If it wasn't for those 2 on yellows then nobody would suggest resting I would imagine. I just don't want Casemiro banned for Sunday.

Casemiro is experienced and smart enough to play the game carefully. He will know the situation.
But the cnut referee will issue a yellow for nothing at all seeing it's United.

Yeah exactly we can't afford him to be banned

Lets assume he is on the bench tonight, but plays vs Arsenal and gets a yellow in that match, does that not mean he misses the next one? Or do they wipe the slate clean at the half-way through the season mark. Also can I ask, do these bans effect Carabou Cup games/FA Cup games cos if not and my scenario works out, well guess what - the next match is Crystal Palace again!

Pretty sure it goes out to 10 games at halfway

Ye but got demolished by spurs. If we’re on it tonight then we should win comfortably.
