Why would you have played Di Maria over Young? Di Maria is the biggest flop of the season, Young has been so much better.

Although things might change and a 3rd spot might become possible, which we should definitely aim for.

I think the only reason Young seems a better option than Di Maria is that we expected ADM to be the best player in the league, and expected Young to be the worst (slight exaggeration there, but you get what I mean). In reality Young has been surprisingly decent, very solid, but with little end product. ADM has been disappointing compared to what we expected, but has still been one of our most productive players even though he's clearly not comfortable here yet.

Actually, the philosophy is VERY adaptable. I just dont understand what LVG is playing at.
It requires that all our players be comfortable playing in every position and adopting different tactics, on the fly.
This is why we see so many players out of position - the LVG system requires that our players can do this.
But, we seem to be using the same tactic (ie. pass pass pass concede pass pass, etc). This has to change otherwise all teams will simply park the bus against us and get a win.
We will claim the moral victory, but our opponent will claim the 3 points.

I know what you mean, but I don't agree. I think Di Maria has been awful whenever he's played since october and deserves to be outside the team.

I'd be absolutely certain they would drop points at the Bridge - if Chelsea weren't already Champions. It's a huge factor, and especially if we drop points today, Liverpool will smell blood, and go all out for a win against a side with nothing to play for. A side probably hungover from the celebrations.

I think we need a win today more than anything. Give us a bit of gusto going into the game against Arsenal as well. Not that it matters a whole lot, but a win against Arsenal would give us a mighty impressive record in the big games this season as well.

Because Di Maria contributes. Young pretends to. Then he's labelled some kind of superstar because some of his twenty crosses were "dangerous."

Di Maria has underwhelmed by the standards we expect. Young has done well given the lower standards we expect from him.

I want Young to contribute to goals today for the first time in weeks. If he does then I'll be the first to praise him.

Well he was Hollands LB at the WC, 3 assists and 1 goal, Ajax key player in CL, he has been one of our best players in matches like Chelsea home, City away, Spurs home, Liverpool away.. so yeah.

Fair enough, I can see why you'd think that. I'm on the fence really, think they give roughly equal contributions at the moment, with ADM being attack minded and Young being relatively solid defensively. Either way, cannot wait for Depay to come in, he'll be an instant improvement even while he's getting used to the league.

We do well against big teams, because they attempt to "play".
The moment we come against a team who parks the bus, we are done for.
Chelsea were the first big team to employ that tactic...and they won.

I don't like statistics all that much either, but 14 assists is 14 of our goals scored due to Di Maria's good work. They do matter on a basic level.
