    Valencia - Smalling - Jones - Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera - Fellaini
    Mata ---------- Januzaj
    Rooney

Really hope Januzaj gets a start today. Brings something different to the others and can be the difference maker in our possession-based football.

I agree, don't think Mata is the one to start on the right today, even though I love him.

You must have missed the whole season, either that or you're just rooting for your countryman.

Not looking forward to this in the slightest tbh.

To be honest I don't know who I want to start! The only one I definitely wanted was Carrick, but that went up in smoke. Any one of them, or a group of them, can have an off day these days...

Mata is an excellent player but at the moment we need somebody who will run at the defender, with Di Maria supposedly out, Januzaj would make sense. Nani would have been perfect for this game.

At least we have a player that will run away from defenders in Valencia.

Let's be honest, Di Maria hasn't contributed anything for a while.

Didn't miss anything. I know he's had a difficult season but the talent is clearly there.
It's not just about rooting for my countryman. I believe this is the moment we have to take a 'risk'.
Mata and Young have played some great games, but certainly Young remains a very predictable player in his style of play. It's become too easy to defend against the current Man Utd. Even though Januzaj hasn't really performed this season, he brings some different qualities to the team, things we expected to get from Di Maria. We need that unpredictability. It may not always work, but at the very least it will create doubt in defenders' minds. Doubt that experienced strikers like Rooney or RVP can benefit from.

 He's not the only one who's underperformed, but he's been shite. There are a lot of reasons for it, like you three amigos point out, but his season has been massively disappointing. That shot he had in our last game against WB was the best thing he's done since the Villa game when he assisted Rooney (with a pass that wasn't meant for Rooney).

Yeah... thinking about what has Carrick done in the last few games? Heck, van Persie has been quite sh*t for a while, too. Don't get me started on Valdes.

You mean the pass that was going to Mata if Rooney left it? Something our other wingers seem to fail with most games, it's not coincidence that even when playing within himself Di Maria still creates dangerous chances for us. Noone is really denying his season hasn't been a poor one, but feck if he's creating goals then maybe he should get a little bit of credit for it?

    I don't quite comprehend.

True, I agree with that. But surely you'll agree that he's playing to about 10% of his actual ability. I'm not saying he's doing it on purpose, but this year has been a write-off. As I've said, there's a plethora of reasons for this (new league, language, culture, form, etc).

    I don't quite comprehend.

You say his shot "against WB was the best thing he's done since the Villa game when he assisted Rooney", yet seem to fail to comprehend the fact that he played 10 minutes against City (game was over), 25 mins against Chelsea (game was in their control) and 25 mins against Everton (game was over). What brilliant thing was he going to do in three games where we never seemed interested in attacking?

Palace's season is over. They're safe and have nothing to play for anymore.

OK, fair enough -- elsewhere I've advocated starting Di Maria for pretty much every one of those games. But when you come on as a sub, you have to show something. He didn't show much.

Yeah, I agree, to some extent. Although, he's found himself in a very odd situation and given everything that has unfolded for him, I understand his poor cameos. Starting him last week may have done his confidence a world of good, though.

That journalist at 4:50 is an absolute clown and should be banned from further press conferences. Hes the prime example of journalist which will make LVG explode. Because what he asked was really like LVG would say "a stupid question".
