Based on the first half:
Lukaku and Shaw are good today. Pogba and McTominay are Ok, de Gea not tested. Rest are not good, Fred is shite beyond belief.

Injuries.
Not replacing, but giving him a challenger that isn't troubled with injuries so we don't have a high risk of ending up without a left-back for the times when Shaw is out.

Yes they have been down to a lot of bad luck, but a squad needs good secondary alternatives.

Solid half under the circumstances, Shaw, Lindelof and Pogba have played well while McTominay has been decent. Dalot and Fred both struggling and Lukaku has been poor bar the goal.

Still finely balanced but quite happy with that so far. Always going to be tricky with the amount of injuries. I'd give Fred 10 more mins then get Andreas on. Only bring Rashford on in case of emergency.
