All you lot who claim Solskjaer has left us in a far better state than when he came need to take a long hard look at that starting 11. Deary me

Not a huge fan of that team tbh.

Matching them up at their own formation just asks for trouble.

If we wanted to rest Ronaldo then bring in Martial (or cavani if fit?)

Can see us looking lost today.

Nothing against the guy as I know he does a lot for charity, but I just don't want to see Matic in our starting XI. Legs are gone and he's starting against the leaders of the PL.

Perhaps it's a damage limitation line up as we're playing 3 pretty defensive midfielders in McFreTic

i like this starting line up as everyone bar rashford will put in a shift to win the ball back when out of possession. would have preferred vdb to mctominay though

Why on earth would we do that? The front three Carrick picked makes more sense than playing Martial.

You only drop Ronaldo if you actually have a proper plan, even that's a mighty gamble.

When you're actually clueless, as much as it pains me to say, just stick to your best player who can create magic ouf of thin air, bolster the back and hope he snatch something.

Dropping Ronaldo while maintaining the ragged clueless formation just made you look dumb and dumber.

Granted if Carrick dropped ronaldo and we started playing like Prime Barca I'd eat my had

We tried to drop Ronaldo once this season against Everton in the 1st half. (1-0 up at halftime) In the 2nd Ronaldo was subbed on and he was never left out of a matchday starting lineup since.

The absolute enormous outcry and shittalking that followed was quite something. Even after losing the win after Ronaldo was subbed on (Much thanks to Harry Maguire)

If he'd stuck with the same team people would slate him too.

Ultimately he can't win with the fans, so who really gives a shit what RonCafe thinks?

Would like Mason instead of Sancho, otherwise I think this is the way to go against Chelsea considering the injuries/suspensions.

Rashford needs to have a great game!

I genuinely cannot wait to see the back of McFred, i hope it happens in my lifetime

I think Bruno will play as a false 9. Matic will play in the centre of a back 3 and will push up on attack.

Possibly Bruno as a false 9 with Rashford LW, but I'd expect it would be interchangeable.

Not sure about Matic at the centre. I am fairly pedantic when it comes to having a left footer as LCB. You might be right though.

Defensively compact with pace on the counter. Ronaldo can't press. Has to be either him or Bruno in big games until the defense is sorted. After that you can play both maybe. Two free roles is suicidal in the modern game. Expect to see him brought on about 60minutes in.

I know Rashy has missed a lot of the season so far, but when playing, what the heck has he done compared to what Ronaldo has been doing for UTD this season that means Ronaldo must be benched to accommodate Rashy in to our starting line-up???

Still hope we win especially as Chelsea are missing most of their best players.

Carrick parking the biggest bus ever. That's a shocker of a line up, at least put Donny in for the useless McTominay. Easy day at the back from set pieces for Cheslea. Let's hope Ragnick will be in for Arsenal game as Carrick is just an Ole mk2 and should have gone with him.

Just thankful Chelsea are missing Kante.

Can't believe we are 10th going into this difficult game. Good news though, we may see Jones play again.

Whats the massive difference then, between a false 9 and 10?
I suppose the main difference is the no. 10 has someone up top to pass to, while the false 9 is looking for the wide players to cut inside to feed. As well as having to mark a midfielder instead of a center back on defense.

The false 9 is pretty rare to see, seems like a specialty formation for top teams only. Seems odd to me to predict we'll go to it.

They're similar but with not insignificant differences, I'd say.

Exactly. Fred is so much better as a CM when he’s pressing and harrying - that and bringing the ball forwards are his big strengths. If we’re all over their midfield that’s our best chance and I’d rather we tried that and got spanked than sat in playing for a 0-0 and inevitably lost.

Tomorrow when you wake up you might want to leave your negativity under the pillow rather than wear it like a hat.

With the way things were going, if Ole was still here I’d be fearing a thumping from Chelsea. I’ll take another performance like the one on Tuesday if we somehow get a result. Keep it tight so we can bring Ronaldo on in the second half to do what he does best.

Because it is what it is, a scatter approach to appease the naratives that Ronaldo is holding us back, it's practically using Ronnie as a scapegoat.

So if you're gonna drop your best player, you better have something to back it up with. Otherwise what's the point of dropping him if we ended up playing the same disjointed football, now minus Ronaldo.
