    Romero

    Wan Bissaka
    Tuanzebe
    Rojo
    Williams

    McTominay
    Fred
    Gomes

    Lingard
    Greenwood
    Rashford

1-1 and unbelievably, united on pens

    Romero
    Axel - Jones - Rojo
    Dalot - Garner - McTominay - Williams
    Gomes
    Greenwood - Rashford

Pretty sure Dalot is injured still. But I can see Ole going back to this formation. I'd give Laird a crack, seeing as we would have 3 centre backs to cover. I lile this team through. Rojo for Lindelof maybe though for obvious Rojo related reasons.

Dalot out, I'd guess Lingard to replace him if we do go for a 3412.
Also, I'd say Fred for Scott in midfield, because he has more to prove.

Hoping of a mix between youth and first team, with the likes of Mata, Young, lingard all left out, but cant see it. Gonna be a tough game.

Just watching United 2000 goals on MUFC, currently at the 06/07 campaign and wow, were we frightening. Goals came from everywhere, with Scholes and Carrick both hitting over 10 between them. Sigh.

I remember SAF going ape shit at Nani

That clip doesn't show it, but I remember it well.

Nani had the ball up near their corner with seconds to go. Criminally lost it, and they break away and score deep beyond 90mins.

    Utterly gutting.

    2012 wow!

So apparently this is a game that happened in the not too distant past.

Why don't I remember a single thing about a game we lost 5-4?!

Was thinking the same. Seen the 5-4 and thought we must of lost on penalties then I seen the comments about Nani and it all came flooding back

Or laird at RWB, if he doesn't play tonight for 23s.

I have been enjoying a few u23 games lately :) so want to see him too. That said wouldn't be fair to have so many untested players start vs Chelsea, I mean I don't mind because I'm not daft enough to draw conclusions on young talent if we lose, but I can't say that will be the case with the rest of the fanbase.

Ahhh, the day that Scott Wootton Ruined his football career.

Cannot understand why Sky dont have the liverpool match on tonight and just have our game tommorow. No matches on sky tonight.

Very excited to see Williams tonight. With Shaw out we don't have a good option at Leftback. He might just be it. Amazing game in Europe last time around. Got a real shot at making a statement for the First XI tonight.

Which team is he playing for tonight?

This game is tomorrow night. Unless you are referring to tonight's EFL game, in which case, wrong thread.

    Who?
I genuinely feel like I've just woken up from a coma and someone is updating me on a period of United I completely missed.

He was the captain of the reserve side of that era, played next to Micheal Keane. He was never very good, but he got a call up to the first team and actually captained them that night if I remember correctly.

He played OK for a while, then absolutely fell apart with 1 of the stupidest penalties you'll ever see at the top level, and gifted Chelsea a goal with a poor backwards header minutes later.

We never saw the lad again

edit: after a quick wikipedia he's now at Plymouth Argyle, so he's still in the football league which isn't too bad.

United's 18-man travelling squad vs Chelsea
    Goalkeepers: Sergio Romero, Lee Grant

Defenders: Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young, Brandon Williams

Midfielders: Fred, James Garner, Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard

Forwards: Daniel James, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial

From that squad, i'd say we're going 3 at the back again with Williams LWB. Probably the same team that played against Partizan.

Was hoping to see both Gomes & Greenwood play. I think Ole will revert back to a similar formation we had against Liverpool & Partizan:

    Romero

    Young
    Jones
    Maguire
    Rojo
    Williams

    Garner
    Fred

    Mata

    Rashford
    Martial

    subs:
    Grant
    Wan-Bissaka
    Lindelof
    McTominay
    Pereira
    Lingard
    James

    Score Prediction:
Chelsea 2-2 Manchester United (Utd to win in ET by one)

    ---------------Romero
    ---------Axel - Jones - Rojo
Lingard - Fred - Garner- Williams
    ------------Mata
    ---Greenwood - Rashford

Think we might do well against them as they play an open game. Though still think they'll end up winning.

Looking at the 18 on the list, I'm almost tempted to say Ole is going to go with the regular XI, but in the interest of not doing so, here's my 3-4-1-2:

    Romero
    Rojo - Maguire - Jones
    Pereira - Garner - Fred - Williams
    Mata
    Lingard - Martial

    Subs: James, Rashford, McTominay

Williams could drop back and Mata fall in between Garner and Fred for a 4-4-2. Or even keep Fred in the middle and push Mata over to the left.

We've played against Chelsea, Leicester, Arsenal and Liverpool so far this season and looked the better side against all of them. I think these open games suit us. I think we have a slight advantage.
