Like most of us, I don't think he's all too bothered about the League Cup. If you win it, nice. If not, no one cares.

Don't think winning the League Cup does much for our young lads. They're used to winning already from years of youth team dominance.
    Small club mentality, that.
I'd expect that kind of talk from our resident Tottenham supporters, not your lot. ;)

I agree with leaving Martial on the bench. If he picked up a knock tonight I’d be fuming.

    Another negative lineup ffs.
This time i actually think 5 at the back is fine from Ole. Have you seen Chelsea's attack? At home, they're going to try to push forward and attack.

Our best chance to win tonight will be by exploiting the spaces on the counter, particularly down Alonso's side.

The key is Lingard with him playing in the 10 position, we need him to link-up well tonight.

I personally think in the current circumstances we should be heavily rotating and firmly prioritising the league form. It would be really nice to have the league as the sole focus through to January

Could be lip service of course, but I’ve just listened to Frank Lampard express how this is a special competition to him and he’d absolutely love to win it (Talksport)

I am pleased with the strong lineup and hope that the lads acquit themselves well. I would have liked to see Jones instead of Rojo, but thats just my personal preference.

But I really just don't want any injuries to our first team guaranteed starters, like Rashford, McT, James, Harry, Fred (I guess) and AWB.

If this was the FA Cup I'd agree with you. But honestly, I couldn't care less about this. I have often forgotten who even won this trophy by the time the season ends. Bit like the Community Shield.

Yeah, he's got to say that, right? I'm sure as a former player he does indeed enjoy it but as you can see by the team he put out it isn't a priority.

Staying at a hotel in Hamburg. Got beer and snacks, and now the bloody player doesn’t work:mad:

Just realised Mata isn't starting. If there was a game i'd accept him starting it's at his old club in the League Cup.

Remember our old icons and how productive they were regularly?

Mad isn't it, thinking back. It almost seems like a different lifetime when we had actual world-class players delivering regular world-class contributions.

3-2 Chelsea, thrilling game is my prediction.

I’m sure you’re right. For what it’s worth he’s really impressed me so far this campaign, and I was quite skeptical early in the season. Seems far more experienced than he is if that makes sense.

Agree with this. We have an early Saturday kick-off and PL is far more important to us at this stage. Given our lack of depth, we can't really afford injuries (or even fatigue for that matter) to James or McTominay. Would've like to have seen both of them given a breather tonight.

I can only assume we're favouring momentum with that lineup, seems odd to play such a strong lineup in the league cup

Did anyone else just see that Sky Sports stat that showed McTominay has scored 24 goals?

Ole rightly going for momentum and having a good go at trying to win a trophy.

The players don’t need rest at this stage, they need games and rhythm

I've got this unpopular opinion that this competition should be played between teams without european football.

Interesting that Maguire is Captain, ahead of Lindelof, Rashford, McTominay, Rojo. People mocked me when I made a thread saying we needed to buy a Captain, saying you don't become Captain in your 1st season, and here just a few months after arriving he is already leading the team out.

I have an irrational dislike for the 352.
