Why is being animated on the touchline seen as a good thing??
It is not, at least not to me, but Antonio was over doing it last season. Can you imagine Jose doing it, and the media coverage he would get for it. They would call him insane, but Antonio was passionate.

I think we'll really go for it today.

    -----------------------DDG
Valencia Darmian Jones Bailly Smalling Rojo Blind Young
    ----------------------Matic

    ---------------------Lukaku

Obviously, Lukaku will need to work back and help out our defence a bit.
Rojo won't be asked to run. At all. But what other choice is there? We can't risk Luke Shaw getting into the Chelsea half and disrupting our shape.

1-0 united. Martial in the 97th minute.
    Nice satire.

Gotta feeling Chelsea will go with a 352 to have more control and play hazard as a striker so that Herrera don't mark him again.

You mean not starting Morata at all? Mourinho did drop Zlatan in our last game with them…

We will match up with them in a 3-5-2. Fellaini will play infront of Herrera/Matic and behind Rashford/Lukaku.
Herrera to do a job on Hazard.

While we're hobbled by our team selection, there's no other manager in the world I'd rather be gong into this fixture with.

It may not be pretty, but it will be winnable and we'll use every inch of our ability to get something from it. Be that 1 or 3 points.
Hmm... we went there last year and lost 4-0. I'm going to assume our players are at least ready when the game starts this time around.

Meh, I'm just not feeling it and think we will lose.

A boring drab 1-0 win for us and I'm happy

Well, Mourinho really did it, in the FA Cup and then the home game. Of course, the first time it failed so much it might not have counted and people didn't notice it. But I share your doubts we're relying so much on that today.

Thats because we went with a midfield two, meaning every time Hazard moved out wide, we were left with one player in the middle.

At home; however, we went with a three, meaning we got away with Herrera being moved out of the centre, as we had Pogz and Fellaini to cover.

    Morata and hazard as strikers.
But that would be more of a 3-5-1-1, he needs Hazard to break our lines, otherwise he would get isolated upfront. And if he drops, with Herrera as #6, he follows him around.

They do the same with Klopp, I don't get it really.

Not quite sure how jumping up and down, running around etc helps their respective team, or why it is perceived seemingly as a good trait to have.

I don't remember the truly successful managers acting like that.

    :lol::lol:

Well done! But also probably, sadly true :(

Although Lingard is not the same kind of player as Lukaku, there's a big change there.

Also, Lingard was very much a second striker/attacking midfielder in that game. Last week, Rashford amd Lukaku were both more or less last man strikers, which to me, is why we had no cohesion up top.

I wonder if Jose will go with the same, or add a centre midfielder in, then put someone like Mkhi slightly behind Rom, like he did against Madrid?

    I'm going with a 3-4-1-2

    Bailly-Smalling-Jones
    Valencia Herrera-Matic-Young
    Fellaini
    Lukaku-Rashford

Considering this is going to be defensive hoof ball from United, this is the team and formation I would like to see, as it best suits the tactics.

Will you lot cheer up ffs.

It's like hanging out with Arsenal supporters. A bit of a bad run of luck with injuries that has decimated our central spine and we still come away with only dropping points at anfield and Huddersfield. We've won every other game.

We're 2nd in the league, 2nd highest goal tally... won 4 out of 4 in CL whats with the negativity?

You're seriously throwing the towel in on Chelsea, have stuttered through the CL, lost 2 out the last 4 prem matches and have a team who clearly can't handle playing more than one game a week.

Come on, we're United! Forget the last result, that was just weird, different team, different dynamic, different fecking season.

Pecker up, let's get at them

If we’re still 5 points behind Man City at the end of today I’ll be happy.

Yeah, or Mata, who only played friendlies in that position in a 3-5-2 or even a 3-4-1-2.

If we play 3 at the back, conceding an early goal there again and making the formation pointless, seems almost inevitable.

    Nice positive thoughts......
    Deary me.

Thanks, can you give me a name of a pub and I'll just get an Uber?

Ah.. I was last there like 8 years ago, but try the Golden Heart, on Commercial St. Give them a ring first.

Failing that try The Railway in Liverpool St.

I was just looking on Google Maps, most of the pubs have closed now, what the..!

We're falling flat precisely when Pogba recovers?

Come on, it is a prediction thread , I understand you do not want to hear negative spin here but so many times I gave United clear advantage and acknowledged a win. For one, if you sink Chelsea for good I may even be happy with Conte and his 100-euros restaurant sacking him in early Nov.

Lingard probably in for Mkhi. Makes sense dropping Miki but I wouldnt expect much from lingard. This game isnt really suited for him. In a game ecpected to be tight with few chances and mostly slow play, whats needed is someone who can dribble past players on his own and create something from nothing (martial). Also normally you want your most talented attacker on the pitch. Whatever though hope for the best. Not expecting much at all.

Last year we made one stupid mistake from Blind and it went from bad to worse. Pogba and Herrera were God awful too

Hopefully we'll start a bit more positively

This is the guy who scored an absolute cracker the year before right?
