Personally if we line up lick this its going to make a very good game, and I for one am happy:

    1. Mourinho is trusting Rashford today
    2. We have lots of energy and pace through out the side today

    No Mata Fellaini or Carrick

3-4-3 matching Chelsea basically. Pretty obvious IMO. Problem is... Herrera-Pogba as a duo vs Kante-Matic? Can't see Pogba having too much fun here. Plus Darmian at left wingback against Willian is nightmare material. Hopefully we put up a good fight though.

Pretty obvious? I'd say it's fairly unlikely you're correct mate!

Much more likely to be Valencia and Young almost playing as extra full backs in front of a back 4

Quite clearly young and rashford up front with mikhi behind them followed by Herrera and pogba. Quite brilliant actually

Hadnt considered that, could well be the case and a potential master stroke

How would Valencia and Young in attacking roles be a master stroke?

We'd have spent hundreds of millions of pounds to play a team resembling that of the Olympiakos debacle.

I know we have players out through injury and suspension, but this is a seriously underwhelming side.

I think you'll see us try a couple of things...

    1) Get the ball out wide to the wing-backs (Valencia/Darmian) and let them cross from deep, for Mkhitaryan/Rashford - a la Spurs.

    2) Pogba/Herrera pickup possession and immediately look to play a ball over the top for Mkhitaryan/Rashford to run on to.

There's no chance anyone guessed that lineup!

    Can only imagine it's
    De Gea
    Darmian Jones Smalling Rojo
    Valencia Herrera Pogba Young
    Miky
    Rashford

    Let's see how we fare!

4-4-2? I'll believe it when I see it

Rashford made it after all. I bet Jose was happy with all the Fellaini talk in the build up.

I can't say I'm over the moon with that team and formation but given who's out for us and the opposition, maybe it's not too bad. I hope we bore them to death

Not keen on Young starting at all. Would have much preferred to see Lingard or Mata in ahead of him.

Not keen on Darmian playing LWB either. Would have preferred Shaw or Blind there, or even Rojo in there, with Bailly at CB.

    Not confident.

Bit risky trying to play them at their own game considering how good and effective they are at it.

Space is in behind Alonso and Moses on the counter. Valencia and Young can get in there, pull Cahill/Azpi out and put crosses into Rash and Mhki. It's the best way to get at them.

Don't know why there would be a meltdown if we lost. City played a woeful Boro who have no idea how to attack, Arsenal played a non-league side and Spurs played a lower league side who are on a different planet to them. We got the hardest draw.

    It'll be much closer to:

    De Gea
    Smalling - Jones - Rojo
    Valencia - Pogba - Herrera - Darmian
    Mkhitaryan - Rashford - Young
Yeah and the game vs Rostov was good preparation, intended or otherwise

Herrera with Pogba in a midfield two..vs Chelsea.

Well, that explains the three centre backs. They'll have a lot of work.

Young offers almost nothing as an attacking entity. I'd sooner play Mata and play with a more conventional system. I don't think matching this Chelsea side man for man is the way to go about this.

There is always meltdown anytime United lose a game.

Because he's been poor lately. Jones' been worse, so I was expecting Bailly to start. Maybe experience was the criterion?

    4411? :D

But I still think We are gonna play wingbacks as rojo is not that good at left back

I had a feeling we'd match their system.

Well hopefully we get off to a good start. Can't concede an early goal.

Our chance lies with Mkhi and Rashford who should be able to cause them some trouble with pace. I know there's injuries, but I still get a bit depressed seeing Young starting a game like this. He'll get his testimonial here, no doubt...

    3 at the back??

that's a risky move, but hopefully we surprised the feck out of them.

Its a hard worker 11, so i don't know... i have hope. We can catch them on the counter.

WHO said Mourinho is not a flexible manager :D Would love to see direct counterattacking AV on the wing exploting the space behind the wing . game on
