Interesting that Smalling who apparantly was in a knee brace last week is preferred to Jones who injured his toe on the bench

I'd say inferior to the top 6 (but capable of beating any on their day), but superior to the rest (They would beat Everton, for example if both teams were at their best).

What?? Everton will roast Celta de Vigo if both teams are at their best. Romelu will make life miserable for that Celta defence.

The truth is that this current Celta team vs the United squad is a mismatch under normal circumstances. The problem is that we have had too many injuries and a number of our players have not been consistently in form. We have been failing to kill off opponents when we had chances. This is why most people are nervous.

Lingard's won me around the second half of the season but I don't think he's done enough to warrant a start.

A defense that has conceded only 3 open play goals since March 16th(11 games)???

Current defense, man. Blind is not very trustful in the Cb position and will need the midfield to continuously drop deep to support his lack of pace.

People reacting to Romero as if we've put a amputee in goal. He's been in goal throughout the competition and he's hardly put a foot wrong.

    Why the shock?
I for one welcome our new goalkeeping overlord. I have faith in Romero. Like you say he hasn't done anything wrong all season.

What's our win percentage with Fellaini AND Lingard starting? :nervous:

    04 PL: Man City (H) 1:2
    09 EL: Zorya Luhansk (H) 1:0
    13 PL: Chelsea (A) 4:0
    47 PL: Middlesbrough (A) 1:3
    48 PL: West Brom (H) 0:0
    49 PL: Everton (H) 1:1

    50 PL: Sunderland (A) 0:3
    52 PL: Chelsea (H) 2:0
    54 PL: Burnley (A) 0:2

Had hoped to see De Gea starting this one.
Romero has done very well but its the semis now and i would have liked us playing our strongest team.
If we get knocked out because of a Romero mistake while having De Gea on the bench..well best not to think about it really.

Otherwise happy with the line up.
Getting a little nervous here but im ready:devil:

What's our win percentage with Fellaini AND Lingard starting? :nervous:

Don't mind Fellaini as much now but Lingard is meh. That's one of our attacking outlets blunt. (Hope I'm wrong and he scores a hat trick then again Racheal Riley might chap my door for some entertainment and I may miss the match)

    CELTA VIGO TEAM
Starting XI: Alvarez, Mallo (c), Cabral, Roncaglia, Jonny, Wass, Radoja, Hernandez, Aspas, Sisto, Guidetti. Substitutes: Villar (GK), Fontas, Diaz, Bondonga, Beauvue, Jozabed, Sergi Gomez.
Other than Roncaglia in for Fontas that is their typical Europa League team. Well rested in the league and good record in Europe.

"Romero hasn't put a foot wrong all season". He makes mistakes basically everytime he plays, whether it's not holding onto a ball, a dodgy kick out, flapping at something. They just luckily haven't cost us so far. DDG is a much better keeper, there's no reason not to play our best players.

Lingard's won me around the second half of the season but I don't think he's done enough to warrant a start.

His defensive roles on the flank are needed. I had a talk with a friend supporting Madrid before and he told me Celta is very dangerous from the flanks and he even predicted Jose to start Lingard in this match for this.

No biggie about Romero, I expected him to start since he has started all the matches so far but if we make it to the final, is Jose going to start him ahead of De Gea? :nervous:

Great to see Valencia captain, well deserved. Just a shame he can't speak English.
Just had a thought .. remember when he was given the number 7 and seemingly wilted due to the pressure? Hope same doesn't happy with regard to captaincy.

Happy Rooney doesnt feature. Too soon for Mata. Not sure why Mourinho doesnt let returning players have a run out in the U23's to get a bit of sharpness. Prefer Blind over Jones and Smalling.

Watch Romero's games and while I don't believe any have cost us this season he's made quite a few really bad decisions.

I am not IKO about DDG just reading between the lines and one of those lines is he's not starting in our biggest game of the season.

I am willing to bet DDG has made more dodgy decisions this year than Romero... such as dropping the ball on to the bar not too long ago.

Nice recent upturn there to focus positivity on.

I see those Celta fans dont act like a jukebox, hope we have enough of coins for our own next Thursday.

Listening to Mourinho; when he's in game mode like that its reminds you how much more impressive he is than Moyes and LVG. He speaks exactly how you want hear a Man United manager speak before a game like this. No bullshit just complete focus. He's here to win.

    Still watching the league?

I tuned off some games ago. Gave up completely on the top four race. It's like the team is cursed in that competition. No more crazy emotional roller-coasters for me.

Going to enjoy the rest of the Europa League though. I have a good feeling about it. Money is on United to lift the trophy.

Yeah, still watching. Don't think we will get top 4 and I do think we should be focusing on Europa. But I have several friends who are Gooners and particularly hate losing to them.

    Why is it strange?

A clear chance at home to break into top four, we blow it.

Closest rivals just dropped points, another chance, we blow it.

Liverpool unbelievably lose at home to Palace, again another chance, we blow it.

Again and again and again another chance, and again we blow it.

Okay, this is unusual, who gets chance after chance like this, here is another one.....ouch! We blow it again.

So what is strange about tuning off? You want me to get a heart attack?

I've not claimed to be IKO, I just believe it's already a done deal and would be amazed (but delighted) if he was here next season.
Going off your other post, you believe it to be because he's not starting our "biggest game of the season". When in reality he's not starting in a Europa League game because Romero has been our number 1 in the competition thus far. It has absolutely no bearing on whether or not De Gea is staying or leaving.

I don't have half the problem most do with Fellaini.

However, pick your best fecking keeper. This isn't the time to feck around for sentiment.
