I'd like to see Falcao and Wilson start up top. Hopefully the supporters give Falcao some confidence if he is lacking. Valdes in goal. Should be a good game! Hopefully we start the game from the first minute.

    GIVE ROONEY A REST.

    Valdes
    Rafael - Jones - Smalling - Rojo
    Blind
    Herrera - Pereira
    Di Maria
    Falcao - Wilson
Give Falcao a chance to get his scoring boots on. Let Wilson build some form. Keep playing Di Maria in midfield. Give Pereira a chance. Free Herrera. Give Carrick a rest - he's played too much and looks knackered.

Forgot about Januzaj. Damn. Put him in instead of Pereira and play 4222.

    0-4

Play Januzaj behind the strikers. If he can't get a start against Cambridge, then just loan him out. Start Wilson up top along with Falcao.

Strong side please. We have plenty of time to rest players after it.

    Valdes
    Rafael - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
    Blind - Fellaini
    Januzaj - Herrera - Mata
    Falcao

No matter who plays this will be a horrible game. I'd rather we played Prem opposition. It'll be the Yeovil game all over again - we won't be praised if we win 5-0 because it's expected, and we'll be laughing stocks if we lose. I'd take a scrappy 1-0 win now and just get it over with.

    Rooney needs a rest.

    Valdes
    Rafael--Smalling--Rojo--Shaw
    Fellaini
    Herrera--Blind
    Januzaj
    Falcao--Wilson

subs: De Gea, Jones, Blackett, Pereira, Lingard, Mata, van Persie

    Valdes
    Rooney Evans Carrick Fellaini Blind
    Herrara Falcao
    Jones
    Di maria Januzaj

Sadly we will play 3-5-2 and look like utter cak until a tactical change is made. The media, as they are prone too, will make a big thing of certain players looking ineffectual and ignore they had to slog their guts out in a system they have no faith in for an hour before the change. We'll scrape through as we did against Yeovil and Van Gaal will again talk about the lack of balance with the diamond, even though it will win us the game, and even though we hardly need to worry about the attacking threat of Cambridge United.

would be great, realistically we'll play 3 at the back.

I really want to see Hamez Wilson start against Cambridge. He was excellent when he came off the bench and I think it only had to take the one goal to brake the shackles off so I think its pretty important to start him now for a couple of game to build more confidence, especially in a game where the opponent is not going to pressure us at all( you would think).

    Valdes
    Rafael - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera - Di Maria
    Januzaj
    Wilson - Falcao

I like how you swapped Di Maria and Herrera around so it didn't look like you copypasta'd my post with Rooney instead of Falcao

What? I actually had Fellaini RCM but remembered Di Maria exists so I put him in... I wouldn't start Falcao, either. Ever.

Friday night game? How bizarre. Will probably end up going to the pub straight from work and won't be able to remember the actual match.

No 3-5-2 and a strong line up to see us through will do suffice.

    What I'd like:

    - - - ----- Valdes
    Raf-McNair-Smalling-Shaw
    ---------Blind
    ----- Herrera - Pereira
    Adm---- Wilson----Januzaj

    What I expect:

    ------ --------Valdes
Valencia - McNair- Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
    -------------- Blind
    ---------- Rooney - mata
    ----------Wilson - Falcao

    ------------Valdes

    --------Carrick----Pereira-------
    ---

    Januzaj-------Mata------- -Di Maria

    --------------Wilson----------------

    4-2-3-1 Fergie style

Balls to 3-5-2, and to a certain extent balls to 4-4-2 diamond. I think we're obsessing over a largely unproven formation.

I can see Valdes getting a start in place of De Gea. Other than that, all our regular starters should start. Fellaini, Di Maria, Carrick, and Herrera in midfield. Wilson and Falcao up front.

Looking at it, our next match is at home and a week away, so you're probably right.

Get Pereira starting this. Should help get his contract sorted too.

Also, Wilson and Januzaj should start.

Rest of the team shld be more regulars.

I doubt Pereira will start. LVG said he's looking at the FA cup as the quickest route to success. He won't treat it like the League cup

Doesn't mean we should overkill it too much (although with his lack of balls recently it wouldn't be surprised to see a close to full strength team). If he really want to sort it out fast then just play 4 at the back and we will win with whatever XI we put out.

He's too stubborn. I thought 3-5-2 was only an option when the fullbacks were injured. Aren't Shaw and Rafael both fit now?

How wrong we were all proved... 3-5-2 is the philosophy.. Try to retain ball, fail at it and then put pressure on an already confused defensive setup..
