    I don't really see anything to read into a 37-year-old not starting after playing 120 minutes a few days ago. Even less surprising considering he's lost his shooting boots... really hope he finds them again, but sort of think he might be done.

    Would give Elanga a run. He had 2 good games where he started, then we had a 2 week break and for some reason the gaffer bought Rashford back in, who was garbage again on Friday. Rashford is far better coming of the bench
     
    People acting like Ronaldo being benched based on a poor performance and not because he played 120 minutes against Middlesbrough. Our forward line is too thin to be making form decisions tbh, we're just going to have to rotate based on fitness for the rest of the season.

    He's shown signs of improvement in the last couple of games, bagged a couple too.

    I've got him penned in to score 1 of our 4 goals today as it happens. Sancho with the other 3, obviously.
     
    Yeah I think Sancho was just cramping up, he had plenty of chances to be replaced but kept going on after a mini stretch. Which suggests it was just cramp.
     
    Game versus bottom of the league team. The kind I used to watch with no nerves and a bucket of popcorn.

    Now it will be a fingernail biting mess.
     
    Glad Ronaldo is benched but it feels rubbish subbing one 30 odd year old for another. We need a more permanent forward in the summer.
     
    Excellent lineup that. Hopefully Cavani proves more useful than Ronaldo has been (Cavani has been a bit shit this season though, so not holding my breath).
     
    Lingard over Mejbri on the bench , someone tell Ralf who will be playing PL games for us next season and who won’t be at the club .
     
    I am surprised to not see Matic start considering the physical nature of the Burnley team. The rest of it picked itself really. Ronaldo was never starting after playing so long on Friday night.

    Ah fair, forgot he was on the bench for the WHU game. And I was at it and all :lol:.

    Exactly. We have to do all we can to get him back on track. There have been signs of improvement lately. We have to try and build on that. Dropping him now would, in my opinion, be very risky from a man management perspective.

    With the state of our squad, and the lack of new faces, we rely on him big time this spring with two major tasks in the league and CL
     
    Why have Mata on the bench when he has no hope of coming on? I would have had Hannibal as one of the subs.

    Most people on this forum got their wish with Ronaldo benched. He's an awful impact substitute so probably best not to use him at all.

    is Ronaldo finished now? If Cavani does well we could be seeing Ronaldo benched on Saturday too.
     
    So, we are playing a team that are bottom of the PL with just 1 win to their name all season, we must win this, right? Mind you, I said that for the Boro game & we know what happened there.
