Apart form Pogba and Martial/Rashford, this is our B team. And it looks stronger than City's B team last night. They have some excellent players on the bench in Gundogan, Bernardo and Jesus/Aguero but their squad is definitely smaller.

Pogba, Martial, Rashford and Ibra together... Get in. Shaw as well. Should be good. Wonder who will be the 10 in that system, or if it'll be 2 wingers.forwards either side of Ibra.

If there's an injury at wing back, it is simple enough to change formation. Lindelof has played RB before and Blind has played LB before.
He could easily change the formation at any time and play a back 4.
The idea a manager has to change formation because of a singular injury is near sheer incompetence.

that 4 has not started together very often, not this season I think?

City played Foden yesterday....and yet we cant give Tuanzebe a bench option !! ...Hope he stays down and wait for his chance...why cant we have atleast two or three accademy players on the bench against Bristol City !! ??

Unless Tuanzebe is injured it really doesn't make sense not starting him given how our defenders fall like files.

The #10 is Ibrahimović himself, because although the striker, he goes back so much (even Lukaku ends up there)…

Expected team I think. Only strange thing is Mkhitaryan not even starting this one. 10/11 from my expected lineup though.

Should do the job. Surprised Rashford and Martial are both starting.

Because you have a big squad. Pep was reluctant to give the youngsters even the League Cup last year as he had the likes of Fernando and co. still in there. Then he made it smaller Van Gaal style; other than the injuries that is.

I confess I'm a bit surprised with Mourinho trusting the midfield to Pogba and McTominay. I guess the youngster's height might be a criteria for his choice ahead of an out of form Herrera which won't in all probability start Leicester.

    City this City that.

Danilo, Toure, Mangala, Bravo?! Seems you won't miss an opportunity to talk up your boy Pep though.

I expected it. McTominay-Pogba is enough to hold the fort against Bristol, and a back 3 will strengthen the defense. Even if it is not and we lose, I don't think Mourinho cares too much to be honest. Matic needs rest and McTominay has merited a trial ahead of Herrera in current form.

Ibra hasn't started at all this season, though I don't remember them all starting together at any point last season either. Was always one of Martial/Rashford, only both when Ibra got injured.

Will be exciting to see McTominay try to hold the midfield in a two tonight.

Would save us a lot of moolah if we could find a rotational\replacement player at #6 for Matic within the ranks.

I was really hoping to see Gomes om the bench tonight.
    Is he injured?

My issue is with neither Pogba nor McTominay being a #6 or being able to be the deeper midfielder, like Herrera can.

Are we playing Blind, Rojo and Lindelof in a back 3?

Yeah. Am gonna watch him closely tonight as this level is a good level to judge him at this stage I'm his career.

I think so. We did it away to Swansea with Tuanzebe, Smalling and Lindelöf, also away in this cup against a team that doesn't play 3 at the back. It's our best formation right now.

We have 3 defenders behind them so we don't need a defensive midfielder as much in a 3-4-3 formation though. I think for this type of game Pogba in the middle should dominate this game.

So annoyed. I was just hovering outside the top 40 (42) on the lineup chart and I got so busy I was unable to enter a prediction. I can’t have gotten more than 2/11 with this lineup

Well, even with Matić there we rarely have control of midfield, so I wouldn't be that confident.
