Martial has been gently pressing their defence, in possession, and forcing them into early passes, which we've almost converted a couple of times. I think we'll benefit from this more in the 2nd half.

People like to criticise Martial, because it's easy sometimes, but he's been quietly causing their defence problems without having to run his socks off.

    Serious question

What does Martial bring to the team?

After nearly a decade I still can’t work it out
In all honesty I dont see it anymore either. Earlier in his LVG days he was really a driblling threat but now I just dont see any form of contribution from him

Need Fred I think. And ideally some new attacking ideas but good look doing that with nothing on the bench.

Profligate finishing from Bruno this half or we should have been ahead. I’m at the stadium for this one, his rolling around is annoying people here too.

Their midfield has been more dominant, ours has been reactive and momentary. We need Fred on for Eriksen, although it appears that Fred has recently been caught texting Ten Hag’s wife or something.

Yeah that’s my thoughts too. So many games with in and out players. Hopefully we can get more decent backup players so that we rotate, the system remains.
Yep exactly. Unfortunately you still have the usual lot in here calling players useless even though there just not match fit

The jewel thief for the fraud is the right move for ETH. Fred soon thereafter for Eriksen, who clearly doesn't have the legs for an entire match.

No... It's much harder to compete for the title with City and Pep than just be a good top 4 level team.

You add another 20-25 goals to their team.. I can see it.

Obviously easier said that done finding a player that contributes to their system as well as adding the goals though.

If United had a world class 9 would they be "in the conversation" for title run?

I'd say so. In the conversation is very different to a front runner, and like above if you had 20 goals to this team and add another 9 points and we're in the mix.

We'd still be a level below this City team, and this season's Arsenal, as we have other glaring problems.

Well Brighton is no Sevilla that is certain. Pretty poor display, Brighton slightly better but inept in the final third due to a terrible Welbeck
Sevilla are bang average. I still don’t rate them one bit. Mid table La liga side that happened to play us on two good days.

Brighton would beat Sevilla if you ask me. It’s close but I would put Brighton as favourites over them.

We played utterly inept against Sevilla because of our own problems. They aren’t very good otherwise. Any mid table side wo
Thought people said Brighton plays revolutionary football that would play us off the park
Good half by us, quite in like with what I expected.

We're playing the budget Man City and we have the budget version of Varane and Martinez at the back and our defence is holding strong, accordingly.

Just like I thought, they have dominated possession while we look much more dangerous when we get close to their box. Quite similar to the League Cup final but we've failed to take one or even two of our very good chances.

The worry is that some of our key players do not have 90 minutes in them and we'd be way weaker when the changes have to be made. Martial, Rashford, Eriksen or even Shaw (although we don't have a sub there) are all a risk.
Need to keep Shaw at CB for the rest of the season. He put in a really good half there. Calm in possession and aggressive when needed.

Shaw is just 10 times more assuring than Maguire. Lindelof played like a proper centerback alongside him.

The biggest concern for most Brighton fans is that the referee and VAR give us a fair chance of winning. If it is played straight, it will be a very competitive game.
You don't have to worry about that, United have been shafted by the refs plenty this season as well. Not quite Brighton levels, but it's close. One of your defenders could decapitate one of ours in the box and we'd get no penalty and Casemiro would get sent off for protesting.

The difference is that you get apologies for the bad decisions against you whereas apparently United have the refs in their pocket because of a debatable offside against City months ago, in which time we've had numerous solid penalty shouts ignored, two red cards for Casemiro(which would be fine if anyone else was being punished for similar offences) and a disproportionate amount of yellow cards compared to out opponents. It's in all competitions as well, the Bruno and Casemiro yellows against Seville were prime examples and both led to suspensions.
Shearer would rather a dog directly shit into his mouth than say anything positive about United
He's probably just bitter about all the trophies he missed out on when he chose to join the wrong United all those years ago.

Even if we win this im worried about City in the final. Imagine them spanking us to win the treble, :vomit.

He's also kept the ball well the few times he's had it.

Right subs at the right time are going to be absolutely vital in this game.

Sabitzer, Fred and maybe even Wout will have key roles to play. Can't see Eriksen lasting the distance and Casemiro needs to be very careful being on a yellow.

    Silent domination

His angles have been decent, the intensity and application have been sub-standard imo.

Brighton look like the big team controlling the game and United the plucky underdogs trying to knick something on the counter. It’s all very depressing.

If Martial can make it through the 2nd half. Might be a forced change to WW his very much running but dumb pressing. I think Martial was okay apart from how he dealt with that chance he got.

Please boss, not Wout. I just can't.

Very biased reporting and commentating towards Brighton. Really wanting Brighton to win based on their previous performances and not this game. They’ve only been marginally better than us

I’m really worried that Casemiro will get a second yellow.. we really need to control the midfield better.

He’s criticised as he’s never available not because he presses teams.

Cmon? Seriously? That is SUN material news right there. Well I hope we win and you have a few pints in my name too. Im here at home making the dog and my wife miserable

Did anyone else see how tight Martial looked running before the attempted chip?

If United had a world class 9 would they be "in the conversation" for title run?

No to both us or Brighton. We'd also need another center back, a keeper who can pass and a #8/6 type and Brighton I think would need some speed at CB, another winger to make March the backup on both sides (though obviously he, like Almiron, is scoring the goals they found ways to miss in previous season) and another starting midfielder (in the spot Enciso is in today).
