I'd say its a combination of neither Varane or Lindelof being brave enough and our lack of pace in forward areas/midfield meaning Brighton have nothing to fear from runs in-behind and can squeeze right up the pitch.

Pace at CB is often talked about as being a factor in a team being deep but I'm not sure that's usually the main issue at this level. Even that aside, Varane is pretty quick for a CB

It’s so embarrassing watching this.

Brighton are a good side – the analytics and xG lot would say they are a superior side to us – but they’ve somehow only won one of their last fourteen home games. I bet they are glad that they had us to play today. We can’t get out of own half, whilst they rack up the touches in our box.

This is right down there with the worst of post-Ferguson. Appalling football, shameful effort.
