    Martial starts

He has good chemistry with Pogba and Lukaku. Let's hope to see something like this today:

It's almost as if Juan Mata didn't a) wasn't our best attacker and played well in the last game and b) didn't get an assist

What are the chances of Martial getting s consistent run in this team in Alexis abscence ?
Slim to none. Surprised Young is starting over Darmian after Jose’s comments about the later. Mata instead of Rashford or Lingard is dumb. He’s so slow.

So Young at RB? Wonder when we will address this FB situation...

This line-up should be enough to beat Brighton. Maybe Jose plays them a tape of the City documentary 5 minutes before the game to light a fire under their asses.

No Alexis is surprising. Interested to see how Young does at RB. Will be nice to see him crossing without having to cut back first.

If Mata doesn't play, the other options are Rashford and Lingard. So, I'm unironically happy with this choice.

Not that it bothers me, but I'm surprised Darmian was hailed as at least somewhat important by the manager for the start of the season, but is instantly dropped from the squad all together at the first sniff of an opportunity. So much so, that the manager would happily roll with no fullback option on the bench whatsoever. Might as well have sold him earlier in the week if this was always going to be the case...

Honestly about as fun a lineup as we can put out. Mata could be improved but we see so many times how we struggle to link up without him. Dont see Sanchez out as a loss tbh.

Let's hope martial takes his chance and we perform.

Not feeling positive about it eh lads ?

You’re probably right with Josés past preferences, but I’ve got a feeling now is the best chance we’ve had for a while of him establishing himself as a starter.
Would be a decent chance for him but I remember his first touch being way off the pace in pre-season and him being out of sorts in general. Hope he's got his head together at least.

Delighted to see Shaw left and Young right. Been wanting that for a while.

    Mourinho on Alexis' absence

"Alexis was going to play but he had a little problem, so we had to decide to give an opportunity to another attacking player."

Yeah obviously the guy shouldn’t be guaranteed a run in the team based on talent alone. I hope he’s got his head screwed on after all the fine drama, I’ve got a feeling he may put in some high level performances to silence some critics. If that’s the case I’d like to see him re selected.

Don't think Martial will ever be a consistent starter regardless of his attacking production because he'll never give Jose "things he likes" (as he put it in one interview). A hardworking winger will always take priority especially when we plan on surrendering possession so often

Rashford on the bench, he needs to leave, oh it's too late lol

Did Southgate start him in every game? Er no. Watch the press have a field day over this.

Neil Custis is rubbing his hands right now.

Can you name another successful manager who allows his players to be anything other hard working?

Really excited to see Pereira and Fred since I missed our first match. The lineup looks good, I just hope we go out there confident

Thank goodness Sanchez is sitting on the bench. We can't have him assisting Brighton. Martial better seize this chance and perma-bench Alexis.

Get in line suckers. 11/11. I'm the king of the world for the next few moments.

What are the chances of Martial getting s consistent run in this team in Alexis abscence ?

If he plays anything like the pre-season friendlies, he won't finish the half.
For me, Martial was the worst player on the pitch during the friendlies. He finally put himself out of his misery by coming back to Europe to see the birth of his child.
Hopefully he does well, today, because in the absence of Sanchez, we shall be relying on him.
