I think that Casemiro will start, maybe Mainoo will be rested, but I'd like to see this team. I think Mount should get his chances now he's back.

I think we should give Mount some minutes at Brentford, as a sub though (He's in my predicted lineup as a sub) for about 40 mins. Just give him a little bit more time to get his rhythm back, and let him start the Newport game.

Still buzzing after taking down Liverpool. We have to believe that momentum will carry into this match, which is an absolute no fukking around this time win. We don’t need to drop a nuclear bomb on Brentford, but we do have to make sure the outcome is not in doubt going into the final 10 minutes of the match so that ETH can manage the players going into Chelsea.

Oh yeah, that one. Hard to think of many more though, it's not a good time for us for some reason.
I know ye. It’s weird how some timings just don’t suit some teams. Like Liverpool had a bad spell of playing at lunchtime kick offs on Saturday.

Always look forward to the first one back after the International break. Weird time, but perfect time for the pub.

    ...............Onana.........

    Dalot.Varane.Lindelöf.AWB
    ..........Mainoo.Eriksen............
    ...............Bruno..................
    Garnacho...................Rashford
    .................Højlund..................

I thought Eriksen was done at this level, but he was very good, when he came on against Liverpool and almost made a brilliant assist to Rashford. He was very good again in the internationals. Therefore I hope he will start in a game like this against a team that will defend and play on counter attacks.

No chance mate. That midfield just isn't physical or athletic enough.

    I predict:

    ................... Onana

    Dalot - Varane - Lindelöf - Bissaka

    ....... McTominay - Mainoo

    Garnacho - Fernandes - Rashford

    .................. Høylund

    Subs: Martinez, Antony, Mount

    0-3

If I get any more anxious, I will need to pay a lady to stamp on my nuts. I’d hate to follow up that brilliant FA Cup QF by dropping points here. Cmon United

On the one hand that's frustrating as it means we don't get the chance to build on the momentum. On the other, I quite like it when we have a good result just before an international break as it means I can feel positive about Football - and enjoy that result - for a couple of weeks. Rather than risk us messing up in the very next game and the upbeat feeling only lasting a few days before being brought right back down again.
I feel the same, I like the fact that there has been an international break after the Liverpool win. It means that I’ve felt good about United for nearly two weeks now.

Why are people picking Lindelof to start? Have we got no other fit CBs or something? Would be an insane decision to start him away at Brentford if anyone else (including the kit man) is fit.

Maguire has an injury, Licha has been out for weeks so should be eased back in, Big Willy is inexperienced so it's down to Evans or Lindelof, vs Toney the latter has more speed

If he missed the game, it could be a good thing IMO. His rise has been “too much”. Let it cool down a little. Big picture is more important.

Think he made the travelling squad, however looks like Casemiro hasn't recovered in time for the game

Would be very bad if he misses the game. Would be nice if we could have no more injuries until the end of the season

Evans got injured before the Liverpool game.

Sky have ‘predicted’ we will lose and haven’t said a single word about us as a reason for it. Could they make it anymore obvious?

Brentford’s form doesn’t tell the whole story. They’ve been unlucky with results and injuries, but they are not as awful as they seem. They should have gotten a point against Arsenal. Their defense is in a terrible state, however. We need to win nearly every game until the end of the season just to have a chance at qualifying for the Champions League. Everyone needs to be on point for this.

Let’s hope Wolves take a bite out of Aston Villa today as well.

I always get the impression elite players are not comfortable playing football in late kick offs but maybe our pampered lot prefer it as it gives them excuse not to come in the next day for training/debrief of the previous game?

English teams that play in Europe generally beat those that don’t. Mostly because they’re better teams by definition, but also because they’re more experienced at playing night games. Someone put an analysis on Twitter once.

If Mainoo isn’t fully fit who starts in midfield with Mctominay? Eriksen/mount maybe. I think either of them would make it a weak midfield though.

Sorry to spoil the mood but our midfield is weak no matter who starts

Either of them do make it less physical but statistically much more progressive than with Mainoo, which might not be the worse thing since Brentford tend to surrender a lot of possession

I get people saying that it might be good that Mainoo gets a rest but I just love watching him play.
Anyway, hope we get the win.

I felt like we had about a decade (towards the end of Fergie's reign and the first few years afterwards) where we always struggled in that same slot. Even though that time was great for me to watch the games, I still hated playing then because we seemed to drop so many points.

We’ll also get bullied of the ball with either of them 2. Didn’t eriksen start the game they leathered us 4-0?

Last game at Brentford was such a long time ago. That one went terribly wrong. I know Brentford were better last season than now but we still struggled against them at Old Trafford and if it wasn't for McTominay the saviour then we'd lost that one as well.

Yes and so did half the players who will start today’s game

Let’s not forget that game’s goals - De Gea spill, De Gea terrible distribution (into Eriksen), corner, fast break over the top of our defense. We had 67% possession and more shots but, per usual, we couldn’t break down a low block

It wasn’t a game where our midfield got bullied, but it was a game we couldn’t carve out good chances in the final third and gave up 2 bad goals, a set piece, and (honestly) a brilliant break

So while obviously we’d like to have Case and Mainoo, my points stands - it’s probably not the type of game ball retention or screening the back line will be our issue
