Here come the, "thank you Glazers. May I have another buggering" brigade. Should we accept that our owners couldn't give a shit about the football as long as they're selling shirts and sponsorships and are only set up as an ATM for it's corrupt owners? Would you tell a battered woman to be just be glad some bloke was willing to bang her? Of course we will support our team under any and all circumstance but we shouldn't give these parasites any of our money until they turn over complete control of the football operations to competent FOOTBALL management. Nothing will ever change until these owners feel it in their balance sheet. That will start if we lose out on European football which is VERY possible at this rate.
Agree, I watched many dire matches in the past, and false dawns, so none of need lectures on waht it means to support the team. The one thing I expect is to be entertained, to me that is the simplest meaning of the Utd way. You are 100% right to call out the parasites who dont care, but do listen when the protests are loud enough.

Why are you lecturing me on the Glazers? I've actively protested them over the last 15 years on a regular basis.

Doesn't stop me looking forward to a Utd game and never will.

Is it here that I'm supposed to write "it's the hope that kills you......."? I don't think Charlie Brown ever did get to kick that football.

I have no idea what to expect anymore. No idea who will show up or who won't. I have zero expectations anymore. Need these 3 points bigly though.

Do you know what’s going to happen? We’re all going to end up watching the game and either we’ll be happy cause we won or be whinging that we lost. Simple as that.

    I don't even know anymore. 442 diamond

De Gea, Dalot, Lindelof, Varane, Shaw, Fred, VDB, McTominay, Fernandes, Ronaldo, Cavani

Ironically we need Rashford's pace in this game and it looks like he's injured and not in the squad.

It would be nice to see Ronaldo and one of Martial start upfront together for once. Cavani won't start again surely.

we need the attacking fullbacks Dalot and Telles as that's where Brentford are weakest.

Brentford play long-balls so I'm playing Maguire to get his big slabhead on the ball which is about the only thing he's good at.. Championship standard.

Ivan Toney don't mess about. He'd roll Lindelof all night.

    DDG

    Dalot
    Maguire
    Varane
    Telles

    Matic (for his height)

    Scott (for his height)
    Fred

    Bruno

    Ronaldo
    Sancho/Greenwood/Martial

No Sancho, Rashford, Cavani, Wan-Basaka, Shaw, Dalot, Lingard and Greenwood by the looks of it. Covid and injuries I guess.

who plays right-back? Jones or Lindelof?

so looks like the players who are starting in whatever formation combination are:

    DDG

    Jones/Lindelof
    Varane
    Maguire
    Telles

    Matic/Fred
    Scotty

    Bruno
    Donny/Elanga

    Martial/Elanga
    Ronaldo

or a back 3 but I think he will stick to what he knows.

Mata could get some minutes here with the squad so depleted we have to take 3 keepers just to fill the bench numbers! I bet Donny still doesn't get many minutes. But we live in hope!

Either Martial or Donny are definitely starting if that's the squad, maybe both!

Wrong. I'll be hammered and unable to type.

There's only seventeen there I think. It will be the usual MEN missing players.

    ………………………….De Gea
    ………...Lindlof…..Varane…..Shaw
    Fred…..Matic….McT…..DVB….Jones….Bruno
    ………………………..Ronaldo

Had enough of being run through the middle so play them all as DM’s just booting it up to Ronny!

This is not, how Rangnick will line up, but I have never trusted the man to be good enough (and I would even prefer Solskjær over him, at least he did okay last season), and unless a miracle happens, I am never going to believe he has anything to do in United. Therefore I am not going to try to guess his line-up, but just give the line-up, as I would like it. I believe the best players should play, and I would prefer a diamond formation to give out center midfield more power:

    ..................De Gea...........
    Bissaka.Varane.Maguire.Shaw
    ....................Fred.....................
    ......McTominay...Donny.........
    ...................Bruno..................
    .....Greenwood.Rashford.......

If only a true football mind like you was In charge mate :(

    Bloody nightmare.

The optimism here is contagious but I am optimistic if we largely stick with our Villa team.

it took Rangnick long enough to figure the key to unlocking this teams potential is playing 4-3-3

like most top teams do. It gives you an extra number 8 in midfield that's why against Villa we had more control over the game apart from when we tired late on.

    big winning run coming up

I'm excited to see United play tomorrow as it will be the first time CR7 has played 4-3-3 since re-joining the club as Ole never played it. And he has played 4-3-3 most of his career very successfully so knows it like the back of his hand :devil:

football 101 is finding a formation and system the players are most comfortable with.

    Dalot Lindelof Varane Shaw
    McT (or Matic?)
    Fred Bruno
    Sancho Greenwood Elanga

Matic is the only true DM but his legs are gone. McT has legs but he's simply not a DM. Maybe he'll start Ronaldo then let's hope Ronaldo can run and press otherwise we're pretty fecked.

Fred CDM with his first touch and strength is silly.

i said bruno would score 2 vs villa in the cup game... i was wrong, twas the league game.

i believe Ronnie will score 2 in this league game, which means he will not and rather will grab a brace vs the smoggies in the cup

    useless post feckery
You've damned us all. Now he won't score in both and only score the game after that. Who will save us now? :wenger: :wenger: :wenger:

I think there have been some signs of improvements in the two Villa games, especially the league one, and the leaks and reports have quietened down, we're switching formations. I am naively thinking we might play a bit better again tonight, like trying to turn a tanker around at the moment but I think there's a couple of glimmers of hope it might be happening. Might not translate to a win but hopefully a respectable performance.

    De Gea
    Dalot Jones Varane Shaw
    McT
Greenwood (pass it you greedy bastard) Bruno Fred Elanga
    Ronaldo

Lucky you weren't following us in division two then?
    Were you?

The moment we got relegated was truly awful, but we’d being playing some really nice football prior to that (for the first time for ages) and people were pretty optimistic we’d carry that through into the next season.

Which we very much did. We played consistently great football in Div 2. It was a fabulous time to support United.

Fred will be one of the front players just like he was against Villa.

Rangnick loves his pressing and ability to cover the ground.

It'll be Fred/Fernandes as the two 8's. Just leaves either Matic or Mctominay as the holder.

Yes I agree, that formation I was replying to was the opposite with Fred the deepest which is against Fred’s strengths.

Yeah I can see that line up to be fair as Bruno and Fred can run for days.

    Ah ok MB.

But yes in terms of balance it's the best we can use IMO. Keeps Fred away from our goal as much as possible, but allows him to use his stamina to its fullest also.

I think Mctominay could be moulded to be a decent CDM if he's taught the role properly. I'm not really a fan of Matic playing this role anymore as he's just too slow when pressed.

I just don’t see it with Scott at CDM, I think he has some of the skills but it just doesn’t suit him. For now he might have to do. I think Garner long term could do it perhaps, but ultimately if we’re playing with a single 6 united have to go into the transfer market.

That wasn't really my point and nah I was born years later. I've had it easy. It was my Dads first year following Utd though, he has similar memories of it.

We played the best football under Ralf against Villa.
    Unfortunate about the result.
I expect us to be on the front foot and put them under a lot of pressure.
    Confident we will do well.

Yeah, just do the subs 15 mins earlier than vs. Villa and we should be fine.

Does this exist? I get a painfully boring loss or draw - but a win is never painful. At most you come away thinking "that was shite, but a win's a win".

If you find pain in a United win then no one can help you.

FA cup against Villa with painful to watch, this is the nearest I remember, but I have to agree a win is a win surely considering our football.
