Let's hope Shaw can make it through the game. Guessing it's Mazraoui and Dorgu at wing-back, although wouldn't be opposed to experimenting with Dorgu on the right and Shaw on the left either.

But yeah it's crazy how many games we've got that are dead rubbers now.

Not that I expected a load of youth players, that's more or less our strongest line up, which surprised me a bit. I suppose if we can perform well, it brings some confidence for Thursday.

Not thrilled with the prospect of either Mazraoui or Shaw at WB.

Mazraoui has never really looked comfortable there, and the requirements of getting up and down the pitch from that position are just tempting fate with Shaw's recent injury record.

Same, was expecting heavy rotation like against Wolves. This is pretty much the XI that will play against Bilbao, barring Shaw and Ugarte maybe?

Probably doing this for match rhythm and fitness, but still.

Yeah, I think this is a pretty bad miscalculation by the manager tbh. The possibility of injury, the tiredness (whilst Athletic B have had no game this weekend), the forsaking of an opportunity to see how the young midfield players (and a 10 like Moorhouse) in particular can cope with PL football, given the relative budgetary constraints that the club will face and the overhaul the squad needs. Good chance to understand who can function as a squad player next season at the very least.

If you're not getting results (at least in the league), then you have to give the fans something else, especially when league position is now much of a muchness. I've been underwhelmed by Mount at Utd in general, but he should also be getting minutes in this kind of game. Also, what's the point of sticking Evans on the bench if you're also putting Lindelof on there, and at the cost of an u21 player.

Unsurprised that Amorim has recognised that at United you can't just send out the kids to get smashed every week and finish 17th, even if you do make the Europa League final.

Quite aside from league position, it's hardly helpful for player confidence that we currently have 5 points from the last 5 league games, and players are stepping out on to the pitch feeling like winning is a rare occurrence not a routine habit.

We'll see the kids next week at Brentford. Thursday to Thursday is fine for the first team players, but going from 20th April to 1st May without a game would have been too long.

Don’t agree with the at all. He’s a player that never tires. He’s in supreme form and his way of keeping that form is playing every minute and competing hard in all of them. Some players are like that, Rooney was the same, he didn’t benefit from being rested.
