I feel bad for Rashford as I thought his movement against Everton was a big part of our improved forward play, but it will be interesting to see Sanchez in the striker role. The rest of the team staying the same makes sense, Lindelof and Fred can hopefully build on their last PL game.

If this Lineup doesn't work, Im actually done. This is the lineup ive been crying about for ages (minus young but he will do). Ofcourse I will still need Mourinho too instruct them to attack and not rest on their laurels.

Cmon boys I need a replay to watch everyday for the rest of the week like I did with Everton.:)

It's not just about the line-up, the right tactics are needed as well.

Rrally hope this team clicks. Its about time someone suffers. Glad we have a settled CB partnership. DDG deserves a clean sheet... thought i'd happily take a 2-5 instead.

Not really. Martial is an amazing dribbler, but he's not that fast. Alexis has fast acceleration but his overall speed is nothing special. Rashford is miles quicker than both.
Martial has quick first step what true Ronaldo had. For inside forward who gets the ball in final third of the pitch, it is more important than pure pace.

Like that team. Would have liked to see Herrera instead of Matic, bur happy with it.

Hoping that Sanchez is up top. He was great there in pre season.

Great argument mate. I haven't exactly seen their bleep test scores, but Rashford is clearly faster than Martial & Sanchez.
It's a fact that Martial is something like 6th fastest recorded pre.ier league player ever. With Rashford not making the top 10.

I didn’t watch alexis at Arsenal very much, what is he like through the middle ?

From what I remember he was pretty devasting. If it wasn’t for their defence they would have been challenging. That’s a lot of people are saying we should give him a chance there. Now this Sanchez is not the same as his Arsenal days - hope he does well.

Now I just wonder about the formation. Is it a 4-3-3 with Mata on the right, or is it a 4-4-2 diamond with Mata in the #10 (nis natural position) and Sanchez and Martial up front? I hope it's a 4-4-2

No one really sticks to these rigid formations. Teams are much more fluid although I do accept that when a team is defending and under pressure they might adopt a specific formation.

The so called football pundits love to wax lyrical about 442 or 433 etc to pretend that they know everything.

    Danny Murphy is a classic.

Damn it, everything in my body was telling me to go with Sanchez over Rashford but the mind said nope and I chose Rashford. At least the teams in recent weeks have been more settled and predictable.

433 or 442 diamond would be good. I think it’ll be the 433 with Mata just doing his usual tuck inside.

Nah. 442 is massively different from 433. It's the difference between two men close to each other up front versus one man up front holding it up on his own.

Having said that, 4231 is a fraudulent formation. It's either 433 or 442 depending on how deep the #10 drops.

People who say "442 diamond" get my goat, though. 442 has hardly anything in common with a diamond formation. Formations are not about the numbers, they're about the setup.

I thought Sky had the Saturday lunchtime game package this season. What’s with BT having it?

I agree it's a horrible formation especially for us - imo you need a very good/borderline WC #10 and two good DMs for it to work.

Am I the only one that interpreted this as Lukaku being left out because he needs to study?

He definitely needs to revise his first touch and finishing.

Loving the team, hope we deliver.
Yeah me to. He needs to study finishing

    Mourinho's message to the bench
Looking at the United bench, you could split the quality in two. Mourinho has valued/values what McTominay, Jones and Darmian offer but that bench would be so much stronger with Bailly and Pereira on it. Both have travelled but can safely be filed under ‘non-favourites’ at the moment.

How can 2/10 performer in current form being picked week in week out i dont know, whats worse, its one position to cover a line which is shit in a mind of manager, makes no fecking sense.

I'm fairly happy with that line-up, but the detail of where Mata is playing is important. A 4-3-1-2 could work very well, if it's a 433 then we will again put Mata out of position and unbalance ourselves. Also, I think it is right for Sanchez to get the nod ahead of Rashford - our youngster is doing ok, but needs to up his game.

It's less important, but the bench makes my heart sink. Darmian and Jones have no future at the club and while I'm glad to see McTom, I'm disappointed to not have Perreira and a 'new' academy player there. We need to bring in new talent and phase out the below-par - consistently selecting the likes of Darmian and ignoring high performers in the academy is not achieving that

Haven't officially seen the team, but I got all 11 right if the updates on here are correct but it's only given me 10  is Fred playing or not as he's the one they're not giving me!

EDIT: Apparently you don't spell "Fred" Ander Herrera … fecking nit-picking bastards

Would be so vexing if it's Martial up front.
    Does both players no favours.

I don't see that in games. He looks like a technical dribbler, who weaves inside & outside to create chances. He's no pace hound.

Yeah, not that fast. He's not Aubameyang or Bale. He's fine, he's about as fast as Pogba. I never said he was slow did I.
As fast as Pogba :lol: you really are full of it... You ever seen them play?

Didn't Bailly travel with the team? I saw a pic of him on the team bus with the 3 amigos yesterday only for him not to even make the bench today?

Matic is the next untouchable guy that needs dropping. No surprises in the side though. Hoping Rashford comes in eventually and gets enough time to make an impact. Hopefully Sanchez through the middle can show his quality.

Not happy with the team tbh. No Lukaku and I think we'll really struggle here. Where will the goals come from?

This is from the M.E.N. Dear God.
