Is it bad that I don't care about this one. Obviously it would be great if we won it but it wouldn't be the end of the world if we lose.
What? If we win we are another win from Wembley again. As we aren't winning the league this season, the cups are everything for us.

Our squad is pretty decent so we can rotate and stay pretty darn strong. DDG, Darmian, Rojo Bailly/jones, shaw, carrick, fellaini, rooney, rashford, lingard, mkhitaryan

So, this is an FA Cup knockout game. No 2nd leg, unless it ends in a draw. Have I understood this correctly?
If so, why on Earth would you not play a strong team? Imagine if the FA Cup holders, lose to Blackburn, 1-0, because we used a weak team? All the blame will go straight on Jose and rightfully so.
We can rest key players in the 2nd leg at St Ett. but for this game, a full strength team will be played, no doubt. Jose has a winning mentality and will play a strong team.

Once again, I see that our fans are underestimating the opposition. Has nothing been learnt from the last 3 years?

He wasnt booked yesterday, so why would anything change?
Bailly was booked. Don't think he would be suspended for second leg though. Not his third yellow in EL (?)

We would play a strong team, but not necessary our best players. I meant not playing the Reserve team, but players like Carrick, Rooney who can make huge impact at some point but currently lack game time.

    He wasn't though.

First proper away game i'll be attending since going to St. James' Park about 5/6 years ago.

    Should be cracking.

Must be error from the Korean river I picked up to watch the game then. After the foul Bailly committed at around 80th minute (free kick, lead to Martial's hand ball). When Bailly was complained with the ref, this channel did show Bailly was booked, even though never see the ref actually give it.

I think they'll be plenty of rotation over the next two games, even though we'll a pretty strong side to come away with the win here. We definitely don't want a replay. I do get the feeling this is the competition José would most likely give up on if he had to pick one, but thanks to the St. Etienne result last night we can rest most of the first XI there.

Herrera is suspended for the Europa League second leg, so I assume he'll play against Blackburn (and then end up with 2-3 days off around the St. Etienne game). If Carrick and Rooney are ready, I'd like them to come in along with Shaw and probably Rojo. Not sure if Mkhitaryan will recover in time, so maybe he'll play in Europe instead.

    de Gea
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Herrera Carrick
    Lingard Rooney Rashford
    Ibrahimovic
    ---
Romero; Bailly, Young; Schweinsteiger, Fellaini; Mata; Martial

Thinking something like this, but there are question marks over quite a few players getting into the 18 (Shaw, Carrick, Rooney, Mkhitaryan). José may decide to stick with the same back four, for example. Changing only the goalkeeper, Pogba (as he is still nailed on to play in France), and a couple of the three behind Zlatan.

    Keeper
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Schweinsteiger Hererra
    Young/Lingard Miki Rashford
    Rooney
Rest for Mata, Carrick (defo should play away v St Ettienne if fit), Pogba (will play in France), Bailly, Blind, Zlatan, Martial.

A stadium I like, a short trip to Blackburn that's a very good one.
    Hopefully great atmosphere there.
Rest some players before the Southampton game and preparing the Saint-Etienne one too

I'd play Mkhi if fit, in order to give him playing time before Sotton.

    -------------------------------Romero------------------------------
    Darmian--------------Bailly-----------Rojo-------------------Shaw
    ------------------Schweinsteiger-----Fellaini-----------------------
    Lingard----------------Mkhitaryan/Rooney-------------------Young
    -------------------------------Rashford------------------------------

    Zlatan will demand a start!
I would keep him out of Blackburn and Saint-Étienne away games, where we can play more fast counter-attacks, and allow him to be fully ready for Southampton.

Rashford and Marital upfront please.... and a start for TFM

I'm expecting the players that haven't featured much to play here, I'd use Herrera though as he can't play next Wednesday anyway.

You sure Bailly to be picked ahead of Smalling? Also, after being sick, Mkhitaryan has to start.

I'd go (unsure of who's injured though, been out of the country and the loop for almost 1month):

    Romero
    Darmian, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw
    Schweinsteiger, Herrera
    Mkhitaryan, Pogba, Martial
    Rashford

SUBS - Lingard (Mkhitaryan), Fellaini (Pogba), Fosu-Mensah (Darmian)

    Blackburn Rovers 0 - 3 Man United
    Mkhitaryan, Rashford, Martial

7,200 pissed up United fans at Ewood Park... this is going to be amazing and I cannot wait. More excited about this than the Cup Final.

That seems about right for me.

It'll be a blast I'm sure, and a throwback to the good old days at Ewood Park.

I think Bailly could do with getting more games in his legs, if Jones was fit though I'd expect a double CB switch. It seems pointless to waste Mkhi in this game with the 2nd leg only 3 days later and the EFL cup final just a week away.

I know their league position is terrible but those things can be deceiving sometimes, so I took a gander at their squad, and it truly does look weak. Only slightly notable names are Charlie Mulgrew, Danny Guthrie and Cory Evans who used to play for us (Jonny Evans' brother). In attack they do look a little better though, Emnes and Lucas Joao are fast, and they've got Anthony Stokes and good old Danny Graham.

Wouldn't Mourinho let Valencia rest as well? And play 4-3-3 if Ibra isn't playing? Probably give Fellaini one more chance as a starter...

Wow, didn't know Wes was there! It'll be nice to see him again. One of my all time favourites.

Well Mkhitaryan should play against Blackburn. If he plays against St. Etienne, there will only be 4 Days till the final. Better if he plays this Sunday and then has one week till the Southampton match, perfect. Not playing in either of the matches before the final can make him lose form.

I was thinking we could rest him for both given the congestion of fixtures we have coming up.

Blackburn fans are protesting and will be walking out halfway through the second half apparently. It'll only be the United supporters left on the Home end
If their games in the previous couple of years are anything to go by, that probably means a grand total of 14 people will leave...

Been an unused sub the whole 2017, would be nice to see him on the pitch though. Might retire and become a coach only.

Won't that be 15 games without a match? Could lose form, or?

I think it depends on the player, some like Ronaldo and Pogba like to play every possible minute, others benefit from more rest, not really sure which category Mkhi fits into.

    Don't mind who plays.

Just want Ibra, Martial and Miki fit and firing to rip Southampton several new ones next Sunday.

Valencia is also needed since no on can replace him. Pogba too, for that matter.
