With it looking like we should get top
4 via the league I'm not super desperate for us to win this. Obvs winning is a addictive quality so winning a trophy with these players will be good in the long run but I'm worried about an extra 9 tough matches to win this.

Mutv showing 07 08 semi, scholes just scored :D
Watched our 1984 return leg highlights against Maradona’s Barcelona earlier. I’ve really warmed to MUTV. Worth it just for all of our old matches.

It really isn’t make or break. Winning this tie would be a huge bonus, main thing is avoiding injuries to key players.

Agree especially with a cup final on the horizon.

I’m looking at this game as sort of a free hit. Will be delighted if we go through but won’t be disheartened if we don’t.

European royalty meeting each other again.

Make or break for ETH this. He needs to prove does he have what it takes to takes us to another level.
 What? I'd happily get hammered as long as we focus on the league and get top four. As much as it'd be great to go far in the EL, the CL is all that matters for us next season and best chance of that as it stands is top four.

Make or break when he has been here for half a year? Really? We will likely lose this as we have almost half of our starting 11 not available in addition to Ten Hag not having enough time to build the squad how he would like. Barcelona this season are playing as one of the top 3 sides in world football and had bad luck to get eliminated out of the CL. We also have fixture congestion more than any other side.

It'd be a shock if we won. Even at our peak with Sir Alex, we struggled against spanish opposition. To say make or break is nonsense.

They are an excellent team now, very different from the time they exited the CL. We are utter shite against Spanish teams, and they outclass us almost across the entire field. Vastly, in some cases. Their midfield is orders of magnitude better than ours. They are fielding Lewandowski, we have… Weghorst. That last one is all you need to know about where each club stands. Half our starting XI are missing. Casemiro and Varane won't be enough. I guess getting eliminated wouldn’t be the worst thing either considering the schedule. I just wish it wasn’t against them.

Just try and limit the damage.

When’s the last time we won at the Nou Camp? Can’t even remember

Barcelona has moments of irregularity in its game. They struggle to generate chances and score goals in some games.

Barca play quite a high line don't they. Don't see Maguire starting then, so I think it'll be Luke at CB with Malacia filling in on the left.

No idea what we do upfront mind you. Wout hasn't really impressed up front and is too slow for us to hit them on the counter. I'd honestly like us to go with Rashford in the middle with Garnacho and Sancho on the flanks.

Why would you want WW to counter? He should be the one playing Rashford/Sancho/Garnacho in. You are thinking about this all wrong.

Because in the context of the game tonight it's going to be our best bet to punish them. With their high line and expected superior possession, our best chance of getting something is hitting them with pace on the counter. I don't see Wout being an asset in that setup.

They are going to have all of the ball at their ground. We need to be clinical when we create a chance or two. Bruno and Rashford will be absolutely crucial to this

We are going to counter them into oblivion

I don‘t think they will have 75% possession. They will be cautious of our attackers.

Sorry but thats not right, not qualifying over the course of 6 games is not bad luck, its not being good enough, going out in a knockout tie due to a dodgy penalty or something is bad luck.

It's 6 games, you can get so much variance in 6 games. Bad finishing from Lewandowski was essentially the difference. It was a fluke that they didn't make it through. Sure, if you want to call that not being good enough that whatever, but it was just some bad finishing from one of the best goalscorers in the recent history.

    Disagree with you mate sorry.

“Make or break for EtH”? This place sometimes

I’m actually quite chilled about this tie as it would be better in the long run if we go out.

He's had 8 months in the job - he has lots of legacy players that are inferior to the quality he is after.
We are a deserved third in the PL and looking good for a return to the CL next season - doing very well in the league, into a cup final, still in FA cup, dealing with a fairly serious injury list, took Rashford from the jaws of the exit door to new levels, has the team looking lean and sharp and like they fecking enjoy playing football all whilst dealing with the most intense fixture schedule the team has seen in many many years.

But yeah lets bin him if we dont win this tie.

Unreal take on ETH to be honest man.

Exactly, kind of a free hit really.

If we beat them, fantastic. If we don't? oh well we have an easier run in and some well needed rest days.

I am getting a little bit nervous (or rather buzzing) now. It's going to be a tough, tough game.
