    Maguire and Shaw look shaky and its felt throughout the team.

    Shaw isn't getting forward or playing it forward which makes it impossible to get out of our own half.
     
    Man that was bad. We’re a very very bad team. The kind of game you’d hope someone like I dunno ‘Paul Pogba’ could drag the team up a level by lifting himself and taking the responsibility…. One day it’ll happen ..
     
    From my memory, playing only Pogba and Fred in midfield is always a disaster.
     
    We are so useless, it's embarrassing. Pogba having one of those infuriating games. Bruno hopeless. Rashford, Varane. De Gea looking weak. Just shite.
     
    People don’t learn do they. Opposition form is irrelevant when they play us, we’ve had plenty of examples of this in the very recent past and people thought we’d roll up in Madrid against this lot and put on a performance because ‘they’re a bit crap’.
     
    How many times has pogba been caught in possession as well. Four or five times.
     
    I liked the part where Maguire passed to Varane and Varane passed to Maguire. 8/10. Would watch again.
     
    Rancid stuff, but for as poor as Utd have been this can be turned around, the midfield is not coping with their press but if they tire the game gets an awful lot easier.. Rashford looks the main threat tonight, not that he has been doing much but some of the positions he has got to have been promising
     
    we should swap fred and pogba.

    Fred isn’t doing enough as the deep playmaker, and pogba is getting caught in the press too often.

    Pogba with more time on the ball could do some damage
     
    The reason why no top team wants to sign Paul Pogba has been perfectly clear in that first half. The guy is completely useless against high press, energetic teams. Too slow, too clumsy, too weak. Hope he leaves this summer on a free.
     
    We can make 5 subs. If we have any sense 3 of them will be happening right now.
     
    I watched similar systems with Fred taking the ball out under Ole and they never worked. How is it 2 years later and these systems are still attempted? Does everything get forgotten under each manager?
     
    Sancho and Rashford have been a disgrace. And then shaw and to a lesser extent lindelof.

    The 4 of them are supposed to provide width from the wings but they haven't bothered to make any run. When they (sancho and rashford) get the ball they pass it back to the cb's (which initiates athleticos press) instead of running with the ball or trying to beat the defender 1v1.

    They're cowards, that's what they are. :o
     
    Could have been worse. That's the only positive from that half.

    But as they are better than us this is statistically less likely to happen and more likely to not happen.
     
    The confidence of fans when we drew Atletico. Men v boys tonight! Our team is just so fragile and clueless against most opposition so not sure why so many were confident. We are in for some more pastings next month in the league and this is just a welcome distraction but really we don’t belong in this competition, such an average team.

    Makes me laugh that Kondogbia and Herrera who we have been linked to in the past and told by fans they are not good enough are having an absolute stroll tonight.

    I’d bring on Elanga or even Dalot for Rashford. Get Telles on for Shaw.

    Pogba and Bruno need to get their heads in the game if we have any chance.
     
    Of all the mistakes made in the first half, I can't get over Rashford running into 5 or 6 defenders. How did that play out in his head.

    easily get back into this? You think Atletico will switch off the second half? It’s easy to defend us, just press a bit and we fail to complete 2 passes. Atletico is a team that is physically strong, so I doubt they will drop in the second half.
     
    Expected us to be a bit shit but the level of shitnes we achieved in that first half was outright impressive.
     
    The mentality of this Manchester United team is poor. We didn't come out of the dressing room. Players taking 4/5 touches instead of moving it on. Players panicking under pressure. That sequence where DeGea played it to Varane when Varane wasn't even looking was typical of our first half play. Players completely lost their heads, as they have done so many times when the pressure's on. Only positive from that first half is that Atleti didn't put the tie beyond reach. We need to seriously find our stomachs second half.
     
    I would take the 1-0 right now and hope for a different dynamic at OT.

    We are so hopelessly bad at breaking the lines.
     
    Bruno, Pogba and Fred are having a bad game. And without midfield, we are lucky to be only one goal behind. I hope we'll do better in the second half.
     
    Wow that was bad. Haven’t been anywhere near to matching their intensity and our sloppiness on the ball has been shocking.

    The Lindelof experiment hasn’t worked either, get a full back on.

    I swear these cnuts must spend an hour each day of training on shithousery.

    We’ll probably pick up more yellows for dissent in the second half than they will for hacking us down at every opportunity. Officials have been shocking.

    It's 4 at the back? Lindelof is just playing as an old school rb and not going forward which has ruined our fluidity of switching the play with overlapping wing backs, so we go right it breaks down
     
    There's no one to pass it to, refs a prick, Rashford is still acting the eejit, Pogba needs to stop taking the piss. Bruno needs to pass it faster and Ronaldo needs to calm the feck down
     
    I think we need to match them up with the 3 at the back. Let the 3rd centre back become the extra man in the build up. Playing Bruno and Pogba isn’t working because they’re both too far up the pitch. Madrid are putting 4 men on our back four when we have possession at the back. Ralf is getting tactically outclassed here. That and Madrid having twice the energy we do.
