There's no way Young is getting benched, unless he is rested for the CL qualifier.

It will be interesting when the CL starts to see how much LVG rotates. He seems to prefer playing a best XI but obviously last season we didn't have 2 matches a week very often.

    ------------Romero
    Darmian-Smalling-Rojo-Shaw
    --Schneiderlin-Schweinsteiger
    Young-------Mata--------Memphis
    ------------Rooney

Would like to see this hopefully unless we have some more new signings by then! (hope LVG switches Memphis and Mata)

I wouldn't mind if we kept as much possession as possible in this game and exercise cautious control. This won't be easy, I'm predicting a 1-2 here. Rooney to score a penalty and a centre midfielder to score a deflected shot.

Think we'll see the same team again.

Going for 2-0 United, Rooney & Depay

Rooney has an incredible record vs Villa (scored against them more than any other side he has faced).

Would love to see that but not a chance. It will be Memphis with Rooney up top and Mata struggling on the wings again :(

No matter what, Darmian needs to play a full 90mins. Valencia gave me a heart attack in his 10 minutes cameo.

Can't wait for a bit of Friday night football, Sherwood will no doubt have them fired up and they've added a few players who will relish the opportunity to play against Manchester United.

I expect us to go with the same starting eleven that started Saturday's match. The only possible addition could be Herrara for Mata, I can't even see that change to be fair.

Im thinking Rojo will be back up to fitness for this one and do at least 60-70 mins next to Smalling.

Hopefully Herrera will also get a start.

    Memphis-----------------------Mata

His decision to play Memphis in the same position will cause us to struggle to create chances again. You know it will happen but the frustrating thing is you know it won't change. We played with a 442 on Saturday. LVG must think we are mugs if he's telling us that Memphis is playing as a third midfielder. The gap between midfield and attack was criminal at times. on Saturday which meant our attackers got the ball very late or had to drop very deep to relieve the ball. It's goint to be another shit game with a little me goal winning it.

More reason to look forward to a Friday.

We'll most likely draw this though, won't we?

No matter what, Darmian needs to play a full 90mins. Valencia gave me a heart attack in his 10 minutes cameo.

He only came off due to cramp and there hasn't been any mention of it being anything more serious, so likely he'll play the full game next match.

    I would play:

    Romero
    Darmian - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
    Schneiderlin - Carrick
    Lingard - Mata - Memphis
    Rooney

We need someone to keep the width and stretch teams, and from what I saw from Lingard in pre season, I think he can be that guy, especially until we get a winger in. He shown on tour that he links up well with players, especially the right back, dribbles well and has good vision.

Would love to see Herrera picked in a 4-3-3 with Memphis and Mata flanking Rooney.

But believe it will be the same team and we'll get a scruffy 0-2 win. Another clean sheet would be great

I submit my lineup prediction more in hope than expectation, with Memphis on the left and Herrera in the middle. But I know we'll get something like Johnstone on left wing, Giggs in goal and Rooney covering the RB position

Almost guaranteed to be the same team, but I'd really hope Memphis is tried out wide at some point! If I'm being super critical, he was walking back and not tracking quite often against Spurs, so perhaps that is why LvG chose to play him through the middle.. But I'd still like to see him in what I am almost certain is a better fit for him. It is odd as the younger players are usually thrown out wide first before being allowed a chance at the No.10 role, especially when we have Mata on the pitch!

Hope we can keep winning, looking forward to a Friday night game!

Hopefully with Villa having many new faces in their team they will struggle with organization. A win would be really pleasing and with Chelsea playing City we could create a little gap already. It sounds obvious but I would really love a win. I'm excited that its a evening game too.

I want to see Memphis play out wide and I hope Rojo starts but I feel he may be bought on at some stage instead. A Rooney goal would do him some good too so hope he gets one. Please no nervy ending to the game but I would happily take that if it means we get all of the points.

I, for one, would be OK with this.

    When is Afroman back?

    Romero
    Darmian Smalling Blind Shaw
    Carrick Schneiderlin
    Mata Memphis Young
    Rooney

    Rooney, Mata, Memphis to score.

    De Gea
    Darmian--Smalling--Blind--Shaw
    Carrick--Schneiderlin
    Mata--Memphis--Young
    Rooney

Hopefully Rojo can come in for Blind. Gestede is a beast in the air, but I just don't see it due to Rojo's lack of match fitness.
I have a feeling that David will start in this one too.

Another ass twitching game most likely.

I'd take another 1-0 victory though, these first 4 games before the international break are all about getting the job done.

Another boring slim win will do for me. We have plenty of time to get pretty football up and running. Avoiding injury and getting players match fit should be second and third in priority list.

    ----------------------------Rooney----------
    Depay--------------------------------------------------Young

    ------------------------------------------Mata
    -----------Schneiderlin-----------------------------------
    ----------------------------Carrick

    Shaw-------Evans----------Smalling--------Darmian

Yes, I'd give Evans another go as I still believe he can be a good defender once he has the confidence back.

The team has plenty of pace and industry, is forward thinking and is not lightweight.

I feel like I'm the only one happy with the squad as I think the players we have are good enough to win the league.

I know and I'm sorry that I'm leaving Herrera out.:nervous:

You remind me of a baby Rhino trying to get milk out of its clearly dead mother. Evans has already played his last game for United IMO.

    Romero
    Darmian--McNair/Evans--Blind--Shaw
    Bastian--Schneiderlin
    Mata--Memphis--Pereira
    Chicharito

    Subs: Januzaj,Herrera and Wilson

Rooney and Smalling rested for CL qualifier.

Rest already? That's a bit over cautious. If anything, Rooney needs to play more so get at least some fitness/match sharpness.

You take Smalling out that defence and it could look very shaky. Why do they need a rest? Season has just started.

CL qualifier is much more important + could be very tricky and with Jones out Smalling is the only capable RCB choice for such a fixture. If Smalling somehow was injured/fatigued after the Villa match we're fecked.I think we can get away with this defence vs. Villa though would be great if Rojo is back.
