Sadly, I think ETH is too stubborn to play a more conservative team and will put out the exact same team as today.

    4-0.

If he does that we will probably get twatted. On the plus side new striker and no Mason Mount, two big positives.

Sometimes you can't wait for the next game.
This is one of those exact opposites.

We've lost there for years and years in a row, we've looked off the pace for a lot of the season so far, and we've got some awkward injuries.
Dalot against Saka is worrying, as is the idea of a 3 man midfield with Eriksen and Bruno in there.

At least Arsenal haven't got going either, but there's no rush for this one!

We shouldn’t be scared of Arsenal, they are good but not incredible.

I have almost given up on him tbh, and i feel there is something there in Sancho who could work in that role. I wont be sad if its Martial who starts thought.
Sancho to be fair to him has looked sharp this season, but still a way off the required level. I don’t think martial was that bad against Forest. We just looked much better and played our best football of the season with him as he can actually hold up the ball and bring others into play. I’m not convinced Sancho as a false 9 is a viable option in the premier league.

Martial has to start if we aren’t starting Hojlund which I presume we won’t.

I’d like to see Sancho on the right instead of Antony though but I know sadly that’s never happening.

If we start as slowly (let alone poorly) as we have in the first three games, it will be over by half time. I think Scotty has to play alongside Casemiro and we need pace up front - if Rasmus isn't fit, I'd love to see Garnacho play down the centre: his pace can unsettle Arsenal's CBs

We need to have some foothold in the game, Martial is the only one of our frontline who can hold up the ball and bring others into play.

Why? Antony was very good at the weekend, and his hold up play and ability to win fouls will be vital.

Predicting a high scoring chaotic game here, hopefully we can reverse the 3-2 from last season.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but based on form I wouldn’t mind if Lindelöf got a start.

Hard to bench one of Martinez/Varane though and wouldn’t complain if both of them play.

They outplayed us home and away last season but I'm sure for the first half of both games we played we matched them at least if I remember rightly. (Realise we beat them at Old Trafford but it was closer than I'd have liked) But it's going to be a tough ask, as much as I'd like to go in with confidence I am just not sure about Dalot or Wan Bissaka Vs their wingers and I can't imagine dominating midfield. We are definitely gonna get chances on the break - need to convert them and hope they're wasteful at the other end.

Not unpopular for me, he brought so much solidity when he's been playing. I'd even be tempted to put him as CB and Martinez LB while our natural left backs recover.

Early benchmark to honestly how the first half of the season could really play out....if we continue to look like shit against a top 4 challenger like arsenal, it's going to be a long way until the January window

dont have extremely high hopes for the game, just hoping to keep it competitive at this point. Injuries taking a toll for us and even players who are healthy dont exactly look fit.

Huge game therefore I expect us not to look ready for it.

During ole's 3-2 wins in September and October 2021 where Ronaldo scored a few, everyone highlighted that winning the game in such a way masks the main issue and the mask will come off against a big team and we went and lost 0-5 to Liverpool.

Expecting Arsenal to do something similar.

This is nothing like that period under Ole. Get a grip.

    Onana
    AWB .. Lindelof .. Martinez .. Dalot
    Casemiro .. McTominay
    Antony .. Bruno .. Rashford
    Martial

That's assuming Varane is not fit and we have not bought Mbappé, Busquets, Maldini and Iniesta.

I agree with a couple of suggestions of throwing Lindelof in at CB and moving Martinez to the left. Saka is by far their biggest threat and him up against Dalot would scare me. Martinez has it in him to deal with him.

That would be a good solution. A part of me is tempted to give Varane a rest since he came off injured against Forest and we have a long season ahead of us where he is needed.

However, Arsenal away is too big of a game to bench Varane.

International break coming up after this game then it's full on whereby the strength and depth of the panel and fitness/injury situation will be tested to it's max over the next 4 months. Hopefully two of three new faces are brought in before the window closes.

International break after this and Varane has retired from France so he should be fine surely?

Yeah, forgot about the upcoming international break.

Your proposition with Varane and Lindelöf and Martinez as left back would be interesting to see. Do think ETH will go with Dalot unfortunately.
