Sourness will be absolutely delighted with Pogba's below par performance.
Someone needs to rip into him, that wasn't good enough at all. You can forgive a poor performance but he lacked energy and fight, after having a week off and watching us do so well. He can't just waltz back into the team and perform that badly. Matic too, both looked miles off the pace.

Rashford is either not fully fit or he is knackered. Lukaku missed sitters, Pogba did not run much, Matic as old as Buffon, DDG being the biggest feck up of the game. Missed Herrera badly. A shite day in the office. My prediction is that we finish 5th in the league, and do not reach semis in CL. Ole to get a 2 year contract.

Had a nasty feeling this would happen after such a high in midweek.

Ole looked near to tears there.

We would have gone level on points with Tottenham as well.

It might be my fault I put Rashford and Pogba in my fantasy team when I usually refuse to use United players for fear of jinxing them.
yes Hobbit, blaming you! Haven't played Fantasy for ages but always used to refuse have United defenders or keeper in my team. I think I used to pick RvN but you couldn't go wrong with him!

We needed Pogba to play today. He has gone completely missing. Barely a passenger today.
Ole needed to be braver and haul off both Pogba and Rashford. Both very poor today. I stick by what I've said all season, there out better players out there. Certainly wouldn't cry if Pogba left.

LOL! Watch the game for one. Rashford has played with a good attitude today? Matic? Pogba?

I think people must like feigning ignorance sometimes.

It's obvious the players have let the PSG result get to their heads.

They all need to give their heads a wobble.

    Jokers.

    Finished having a tantrum? Good.

You failed to explain the relation between a bad attitude and missing chances.

    Just forget it.

    50/50 game

On another day we win 3-1, how Lukaku didn't get atleast 1 today I don't know.

Rashford as been piss poor for about a month now. He needs dropping.

Don't want to argue but I disagree wholeheartedly!

FFS You've answered this twice! And said the same thing! Take a breath mate!

It wasn't Matic who gave away the ball cheaply or the (weak) penalty for the second goal was it? Matic wasn't the huge gap in midfield for Arsenal's first goal either? Ole should have been brutal like he was with Baiiley in the CL second leg. The game was close but the second goal sealed it!
Take a breath? :wenger: I think you might have misread this entirely, pal. Particularly when you’ve used “FFS” and spammed punctuation. You might want to take your own advice. For what it’s worth, I originally replied, then replied to someone else and noticed your post was still quoted in it, so assumed it hadn’t gone through and edited to include a resonant to you.

It wasn’t a penalty. No matter how much you’d like to attribute the goal to Fred, it has everything to do with his a terrible refereeing decision. You realise that it was Matic who should have been closing down on the first goal, yes? Matic is finished at this level mate, accept it. They were continuously running beyond him and without Herreras ridiculous defensive contribution Matic got completely exposed. So, true to form, he drops an extra 2/3 yards to counter this and leaves a massive gap in our midfield. It’s no conincidence this gap wasn’t there when he was out of the team.

Oh I totally agree mate. My only real issue with Ole is he seems to leave his substitutions a little too late.

If anything Ole's setup today and switch up midgame gave them the platform to create the chances that they did. We're pretty much all in agreement that we were the better side but were unfortunate today. Re run the game multiple times and we're winning more often than not!

late sub are one quirk we may have to get used to it seems:D

Yeah no. Don't agree. What stupid stuff?
He has a tendency to dribble himself in trouble, which he does a lot. His passing has always been erratic for us, like today. He does those same things really well many times as well tbf. It’s just too much 50/50 for me.

    Finished having a tantrum? Good.

You failed to explain the relation between a bad attitude and missing chances.

    Just forget it.
Rashford was so lackadaisical whenever he got in a shooting position today. He has had a bad attitude for weeks. Of course i can point to that not being good enough. Do you not agree? It's no coincidence to me that, that has coincided with this poor run of form he's had.

How many dangerous opportunities were wasted either on the edge of their box or down to the final pass today? We clearly weren't focused enough for this match. Why? Because they let the PSG result get to their heads imo.

I was worried about this happening. We most likely all were.

Losing a game we easily could have won by 3 is always hard, but if you stop with the fecking knee jerk reactions you sooner realize that we played another solid game, and with the same amount of luck Arsenal had we would have smashed them.

Hopefully Herrera is back and stays fit for the reminder of the season, because he is sure as hell someone we are in DIRE need of if we want to finish top 4.

I am saddened by the loss, but feels just as positive about the performance as i did last time we met Arsenal. We will get top 4, they will not. No worries.

Yeh, overall setup and general ability to create chances is something to be happy about for sure. Ole has a good thing going on that is evident even whilst we lose today.

True but today he really didn't do that stuff much.

Take a look at the comparative run ins, Arsenal can field youth teams for the rest of their league games and still win them all (that is an exaggeration to highlight how easy they are) compared to who we still have to play.

If we had won this, we had a small buffer, as it is, it will require supreme incompetence from either Emre or Poch to allow us back in to the top four now.

Arsenal won't win all their remaining games and neither will we. From where we were, top 4 was a huge ask. I still think we'll finish above arsenal. It's arsenal... they like to arsenal.

We should go all out to win the CL anyway. You never know. Instead of letting one defeat in so many games get you down, try instead thinking how great it's been for the last few months.

I'm buzzing for every game, win lose or draw.

yes Hobbit, blaming you! Haven't played Fantasy for ages but always used to refuse have United defenders or keeper in my team. I think I used to pick RvN but you couldn't go wrong with him!

I might have to ship them out I don't care if everyone has them and they get them points as long as we win, I didn't need to worry about not having United players with Jose!

I've already got 2 Liverpool players, I've jinxed Son as well hes done nothing since I added him will have to look at my Arsenal and Chelsea options I don't have any of their players, I'll probably free hit next week and will be trying to use 3 Liverpool and 3 Chelsea players so fingers crossed

Apparently the last time DDG saved a penalty was in 2014?

What do people make of Pogba's performance today?

Seemed to me like a poor ending to the game from him mentally, demeanour wise. Looks like an unhappy guy again to some degree. But then again that could be just in this game which has pissed us all off, would certainly do so to him. And then my river just fell over itself at the end so I'm saying this based of one or two moments that i saw.

Maybe. He did do it before they got the penalty, though. Just think it’s wrong to claim he was good if Pogba and Matic were bad (which they were, imo). He was ok for me, nothing else.
Better than both of them definitely.

exactly. we've been treated to an absolute wonderful last 2 months. probably 40% better that what could have been expected. if we happen to miss out on top four, the overriding feeling should be one of 'what a ride that last few months was'. Positivity and look to the future. If we miss out on top four, so what. We seem to have our club back. We may not attract the best available players...but if they don't want to come here...then feck em. I'll wait an extra year for CL if it means we lock in the reclamation of our club.

Wow...i'm just about to do my ratings, but damn choosing a MOTM for us is hard today!!!! I'm actually tempted to go for Fred because he was involved in a lot of good transitions, was calm under pressure a lot of times, and was back and forth with a hand at both ends. The penalty isn't really a penalty but you can't give the ref that chance. Does that take his MOTM away from him? I don't think anyone else is deserving tbh. Or am I insane ? :D:cool:

EDIT: ah I see 24% went for Fred too. I'm not nuts
and wow, Rashford receiving the wrath today with his rating!

Oh I am not down, it is what it is, from where we were he has done a great job, but this was a must win game, like all the remaining games.

    Matic as old as Buffon,

    :lol::lol:

My prediction is that we finish 5th in the league, and do not reach semis in CL.

Reasonable. Although we certainly have the power in our hands to achieve more that's for sure.

Ole to get a 2 year contract.

Reasonable also. No need to go crazy with a 6 year contract like Moyes. But if Ed goes for Ole (which he should) then I feel 3 years is a respectful contract that gives Ole a bit of support and leeway to build over time before the media startup their BS if it ain't going awesomely one year in.

It wasn’t a challenge, it wasn’t a foul, it wasn’t a penalty, it wasn’t Freds fault. But yeah, let’s blame him for a terrible refereeing decision. :wenger:
If you can't see him push Lacazette then that's on you. I don't think it should be given either but don't give the ref the option because they make mistakes.
Anyway, that was hardly the worst mistake we made today

Now that was a good game show

There is a post match thread.

Not sure why this is still active, maybe every match thread need to be lock-up every time match end.

I still chat here because I'm still limited to 5 comments a day elsewhere. Getting likes is non existent, so here is effectively my 'post match' as well are during!

Agreed. VAR may help us in the future. But I can understand how that gets given as a penalty 65+% of the time. And therefore you simply don't get that close and give the ref the opportunity to buy it.

Fred did fine today though. His performance should certainly fly under the discussion radar. In fact he is looking like a great rotation option in there, him and Herrera.

The discussion should be about moments of this match in isolation. De Gea was poor (and is looking a little off recently). Lukaku, today is mostly on him. He stays in the team though for me. Rashford is looking a little out of ideas, a bit fatigued perhaps, slowness of mind for releasing the ball when he should. He should sit one out.

Overall that's a tough game, like it should be against a typically top four team. And if you re-run that exact sort of game again and again, we win 3-1. Universe had it in for us after we used up all its kindness for us against PSG. :D
Pretty much agree with that. Although given the pen we got in France from VAR, I wouldn't be surprised if this one was upheld by VAR.

As I said originally … take a breath!

    Really?

You’re trying really hard for this to be a thing but it’s just not happening. Relax, stop taking everything personally and move along.

First off, the decision to award a penalty was incorrect. Not his fault. Secondly, he has been directly involved in at least 3 good chances this afternoon and he is the only United player to consistently find space on the edge of a crowded Arsenal box. He dawdles on the ball at times and his decision making needs work, but his overall contribution was impressive. He's clearly improving.

Fred had one of his better performances in a United shirt this afternoon and on another day, he'd be on the winning team. It was just one of those days.
How was the penalty not his fault? Who's fault was it? He leant in to Lacazette in the box. It was a penalty all day long. I can agree he might be improving but he isnt good enough for Utd in my opinion. I hope I am proved wrong and he turns in to the player we need.

It was never a penalty, not even close.

Lacazette conned the ref with a wind-assisted dive.
