Ipswich Town Football Club (nicknamed nicknamed The Blues, and The Tractor Boys) is a professional football club based in Ipswich, Suffolk, East Anglia, England. The club competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football, following back to back promotions from League One and the Championship. The club was founded as an amateur side in 1878 and were known as Ipswich A.F.C. until 1888 when they merged with Ipswich Rugby Club to form Ipswich Town Football Club. Ipswich were elected to the Football League on 30 May 1938, and played in the Third Division South until the end of the 1953–54 season, when they won the title and promotion to the Second Division.

Alf Ramsey became the club's manager in August 1955, and Ipswich Town won promotion to the top level of English football, the First Division, in 1960–61. In the top flight for the first time, Ipswich became champions of the Football League at the first attempt in 1961–62. As English league champions, they qualified for the 1962–63 European Cup, defeating Maltese side Floriana 14–1 on aggregate before losing to AC Milan. Ramsey left the club in April 1963 to take charge of the England national team. Subsequently, Bobby Robson led Ipswich to two major trophies and several seasons in top flight European football. The successful period began in 1973 when the club won the Texaco Cup and finished fourth in the league, qualifying for the UEFA Cup. Major success came in 1978 when Ipswich beat Arsenal at Wembley Stadium to win their only FA Cup trophy. Ipswich won the UEFA Cup in 1981 with a 5–4 victory over AZ Alkmaar in a two-legged final.

Ipswich Town's main rivals are Norwich City. When the two teams meet it is known as the East Anglian derby, or, informally, as the "Old Farm derby", a comic reference to the "Old Firm Derby" played between Scottish teams Celtic and Rangers and the prominence of agriculture in East Anglia. The club has played its home games at Portman Road since 1884.

Must win. Want to see Yoro, Eriksen, Garna in for Maz, Casemiro and Hojlund. Also, when the feck will Shaw and Mount return?

Simply put, its a must win. 3 points and the relegation talk will die. But I couldn't tell you with any degree of confidence whether we can even win this one.

Probably our most important remaining league game. Hopefully Spurs beat them today and we can at least hold them to a draw.

Oh no, oh no no no. When is the season over?

    Home game

    Will we score?

    Manchester United never score!

Delap will get a double and become a must buy for the summer...watch out.

Be good if we can get Toby back, as do not like Bruno alongside Ugarte. Think Garna comes in for Rasmus and Yoro for Mazaraoui, then Toby for Casemiro, as he was horrendously bad.

We can’t score at home. Expect us to struggle again here. Especially if we’re playing 5 defenders plus a DM so 6 defensive players.

Agreed and Amorim needs to instruct the team to be compact, to stop playing within large distance of one another. That element of the build up is on him not the players.

    The big 6 pointer.

I’d probably start the same XI and make subs soon into the second half, maybe with the exception of Casemiro if Mainoo happened to be fit to play in the 10 role.

Garnacho is always more explosive from the bench and I think the kid needs to be protected from the shit as much as possible, so subbing off Hojlund/Zirkzee is always a better option.

You just hope there is something for the crowd to shout about early into the game so the atmosphere doesn’t drain immediately.

Personally think that's why he should start, this team only gets sparked to life by those moments that raise the atmosphere in the ground. Zirkzee and Hojlund don't provide it everything becomes very flat very quickly.

Not going to happen but what I'd like to see relative to who is available:

    Zirkzee
    Bruno
    Garnacho - Ugarte - Eriksen - Dalot
Dorgu - Yoro - De Ligt - Mazraoui
    Onana
One of those lopsided 4-4-1-1's where Garnacho is more advanced as a left winger, and Dalot is a wide midfielder, and we have 2 normal wing backs. Toss Hojlund in the trash and have Zirkzee and Bruno as a front 2 basically.

Maguire, Deligt, Casemiro cannot start at the same time.

    Bench Hojlund please

Wish we had another player to bench Dalot for

That sinking feeling where you realise that you’re not confident that Manchester United can get points at home against Ipswich Town in the Premier League.

Win this and end any relegation talk.
Lose/draw and this place goes into meltdown.
Let’s just attack from the beginning and not go a goal down before we start playing.
Their right wing and right back is their weak point defensively so we need to start Garna here.

I’d agree, but it’s just not happened at Old Trafford this season.

When he starts, he plays brainlessly.

This is do or die for Ipswich you feel. They'll throw absolutely everything at it and won't be happy with a point. We have to fecking match a team's intensity for once.

Yes! I would love to see this team as well. Ugarte's legs can carry Eriksen who will bring a lot more passing ability and creativity to the team and allow Bruno to play an attacking role.

Ipswich will want this more and that'll be the difference between two equally shit sides.

If we can't win this then I don't know what to say. We really need to start the match at the kick off rather than half time or after we concede multiple goals.

Have ever needed a fecking hammering win more than now. It would feel unbelievably cathartic to secure our PL future with a big win. Really silence the haters by showing that we're top 17 material

I'd drop Maguire after that game. He really was that bad, can't let players have games like that and not face consequences. Casemiro being dropped is a given.

    --------------------- Obi

    ------- Garnacho - Zirkzee

    -- Dorgu - Bruno - Ugarte - Dalot -

    --- Mazraoui - De Ligt - Yoro

    ------------------- Onana

Would love to drop Dalot but can’t think of an alternative

At home against a poor promoted side, looking like being relegated straight back to the championship, and yet our depressing record means we shouldn't be approaching the game with any degree of confidence in a good performance or positive result.

I fully expect us to play much of the game as we did today - with the Ipswich players looking far more hungry and committed. And that's just the most unacceptable thing about our performances - the tactics, the finishing, ball retension and creativity, etc, can all be rightly criticised as well of course, but the most unacceptable one is how often the opposition look far more up for it than our players. That's something that should be well within the control of the players and reflects poorly on them.

As regards selection, I've rarely got a preferred XI anymore. Whichever area we opt to prioritise, leaves us weak somewhere else. I see a few different line ups that I quite like each of them for some reasons, but they all leave us looking poor in another area. Largely that balance between addressing our limited options of pace and mobility with our also limited technical options. It's hard to try and correct one weakness without the other looking even worse than ever!

I want to see Højlund come in for the last 15-25 minutes and just give it all against tired bodies.
