Norwich City Football Club (also known as The Canaries or City or The Citizens) is an English professional football club based in Norwich, Norfolk, that competes in the Premier League. Norwich City was formed following a meeting at the Criterion Cafe in Norwich on 17 June 1902 by a group of friends led by two former Norwich CEYMS players, and played their first competitive match against Harwich & Parkeston, at Newmarket Road on 6 September 1902. They also joined the Norfolk & Suffolk League for the 1902–03 season, but during the First World War, with football suspended and facing spiralling debts, they went into voluntary liquidation on 10 December 1917.

The club was officially reformed on 15 February 1919 – a key figure in the event was Charles Frederick Watling, future Lord Mayor of Norwich and the father of future club chairman, Geoffrey Watling. Norwich City F.C. played at Newmarket Road from 1902 to 1908. Following a dispute over the conditions of renting the Newmarket Road ground, in 1908 the club moved to a new home in a converted disused chalk pit in Rosary Road which became known as “The Nest”. By the 1930s, the ground was too small for the growing crowds, and in 1935 the club moved to its current home in Carrow Road.

The club's main local rival is Ipswich Town. When Norwich and Ipswich meet it is known as the East Anglian Derby, or, informally, as the Old Farm Derby – a comic reference to the 'Old Firm Derby' played between Scottish teams Celtic and Rangers. The fans' song “On the Ball, City” is the oldest football chant in the world, written in 1890 and still sung today; the song is, in fact, older than the club itself having probably been penned for Norwich Teachers or Caley's FC in the 1890s and adapted for Norwich City.

Fairly sure we'll start with the same side that played against Crystal Palace.

    De Gea

    Dalot Lindelof Maguire Telles
    McTominay Fred
    Fernandes ----- Sancho
    Ronaldo Rashford

Well, I'd be pretty shocked to see any changes to the team that played against Palace considering that YB game. Mason was really good but I think Rangnick will give Rashford another chance before changing, and I doubt Greenwood would have gotten so many mins if he was playing against Norwich. Shaw is the only one that could potentially come in imo but I think Ralf will probably stick with Telles for one more game. I do think Shaw is going to get back in the team once he's fully fit (very good cross for Mason's goal against YB).

EDIT: After hearing Ralf's comments on Shaw I think this is the lineup against Norwich:

    De Gea
    Dalot Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Fred
    Sancho Fernandes
    Ronaldo Rashford

    Bench:
Henderson, Bailly, Telles, VDB, Diallo, Elanga, Greenwood

Extra two days of training for the first choice since they didn’t play today and no recovery day tomorrow.
    Could set us up nicely

Greenwood might have a shout but other than that yep

    De Gea

    Telles
    Maguire
    Lindelöf
    Dalot

    Fred
    McTominay

    Bruno
    Sancho

    Greenwood
    Ronaldo

Varane and Cavani off the bench.

Don't think Greenwood is going to start given he played full game tonight, so same 11 as against Palace, with Cavani and Greenwood coming on at some point of the game.

Fred-McTominay midfield is not ideal but it should be able to cope against Norwich. We really should be looking to buy a midfielder in January.

Same line-up as the Palace game and please Ronaldo scores hattrick. I have him captain in my FPL team.

I liked Henderson getting off his line for a few clearances... really think he can improve our back 4.
I thought he did last season. It was the most solid we looked under ole for that spell with Henderson in goal

But DDG in fairness came back in great form, but questions still on his commanding of the box and is hesitation to come off his line

Same team as against Crystal Palace and Arsenal and rightly so. They have won games in the hardest league in the World back-to-back (first time this season we've done that I think?) so they have earned the shirt until United have a bad result. Keep the consistency going. Consistency breeds repetition and a winning team. Now is not the time to keep changing the team.. they need as much time together to build on Rangnicks style. Play the A first team as much as possible right now. You can make 1 or 2 changes once the team is settled and knows the style like Liverpool and Chelsea do because they know the system and style to slot straight into it's repetitive (after a few months). Now is not the right team for changing the team.

We also need to give more time to build the strike partnership between CR7 and Rashford so play them together regularly as much as possible every game. Changing the strike partnership every game isn't going to help them build up a partnership and understanding ala Yorke and Cole who was given loads of games to start together to build that partnership it didn't happen after 1 game or overnight.. The experience and heading ability of Ronny and youth and pace of Rashford has the potential to be a great striker partnership.

Nobody from tonight's game have given the starting A team anything to worry about.

Telles and especially Dalot are the ones on everyone's lips right now.. the difference it makes to the team finally putting crosses into the box from either wing to feed the GOAT to score. Really exciting stuff with them as our full-backs it's completely given the team a new dimensional as Wan-Basaka can't cross a football he is very limited (like Phil Bardsley level attacking which isn't good enough to be starting for United you need to be able to cross the ball and attack as a full-back) and opposition teams know that so play on it. Now they can't as we are strong crossing on both wings it makes United unpredictable and able to dominate games again.

I'd like to see Bailly play but he won't, I've got a bit of hope that Mason gets in ahead of Rashford though.

Keep changing the striker every game. And when Cavani is back then what!? You are gonna change the striker again? It's hard to get consistency and build a strike partnership understanding if the striker is changing every game.. how are you suppose to build a partnership? I'm pretty sure Fergie kept a settled strike partnership so they could build an understanding especially if it's new. Yorke and Cole didn't get that telepathic understanding overnight or just 1 game, they built the understanding up over starting many games together.

We need a settled winning team and not to make the same mistakes Ole did by tinkering the team needlessly just to be fair and give players a game.. you need to be ruthless like Fergie was.

The team against Crystal Palace and Arsenal became out only games we have won back-to-back this season I think. The same starting 11 deserves to start against Norwich. And then if we have a bad result you can make changes to try to get that winning consistent team formula. It's madness changing a winning team that's trying to adapt to a new manager and his style and unsettling the CR7 and Rashford strike partnership they have built up over the past few games (Rashford assist for Ronny's goal against Arsenal).

Greenwood is a good impact player off the bench to change the game right now. Same as Cavani when he's fit.

If something isn't broke why try to fix it? When a team is settled like a Chelsea and Liverpool you can slot different players in.. but this is a new manager with a new style we can't afford the same luxury yet we need the build the confidence and winning consistency first by keeping a settled starting eleven (Atleast for a few months)

Varane and Cavani off the bench would be great.

Need competition for places right now

Don’t think we’ll see Varane & Cavani till after the weekend as Rangnick mentioned they won’t be resuming full training until Monday. Probably off the bench in the Brentford game on Tuesday and possibly both to start in the Brighton game next weekend?

Don't think this is up to discussion. Mason played the full 90minutes today. I'm quite sure it will be Ronaldo-Rashford on saturday with Mason starting the Brentford game.

Yeah I can see that. Ronaldo will probably be on the bench for Tuesday (resting him) so will be Rashford and Greenwood starting against Brentford. I'd still try to keep a settled team as much as possible (Atleast for the first few months) to adapt to Rangnick and his style.

Hopefully we win on Saturday and keep the momentum going. Momentum is massive in football.

we've played 2 games with Rangnick in charge, it's hardly a huge disruptive leap to put the better performer of the 2 into the partnership with Ronaldo. Mason is good at dropping deep and allowing the other striker to run in behind, Ronaldo and Rashford both like to run in behind, it's not a balanced dynamic.

Stay consistent. Same starting 11 vs Crystal Palace.

Greenwood played 90 so doubt he would start over Rashford.

    ------------------- MAGUIRE ---- LINDELOF --------------------
    - DALOT -------------------------------------------------- TELLES -
    ------------------- FRED ------------- SCOTT -----------------------
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ------- SANCHO ------------------------------------ BRUNO ------
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ------------------- RONALDO ---- RASHFORD ------------------

Is there any chance Ralf will instruct the youth team coaches to adopting the same style of play?

On merit, Rashford doesn’t deserve to even be on the bench against Norwich, let alone start. Very poor form / performances lately :(

Rashford should be dropped imo but I think RR will go with the same team. 2nd half hopefully Rashford is subbed with Greenwood and Bailley for either Maguire/Lindelof. We should win this 3-0 I reckon

Varane might be back for this one! I think we'll do well here, 3-0.

Ralf said they won't start full training till monday next week so I doubt we'll see them for Norwich.

I would drop Rashford and bring in Greenwood. Other than that the team should stay the same. No reason to bring Shaw in over Telles either.

I think United need to keep a settled team for the first few months to get use to Rangnicks style of play and not make the mistake of tinkering unnecessary like Ole did. Especially when the team has become the first team this season to win back-to-back games.

Ronny doesn't have the pace to run in behind defenders anymore so if you play Greenwood they'll occupy the same spaces and both don't seem to pass the ball to each other when they have played together before (some strike partnerships just don't gel no matter how good they are individually). If you watched the Palace game it was Ronny dropping deep and Rashford running in behind. It worked well after only 1 training session so why change something which isn't broken?

Rashford is quicker than Greenwood. That raw lightning pace scares defenders to death and forces them to drop deep.

Rashford is a great player, he will come good. Sometimes you have to play a player back in form if the team is still winning because his presence alone makes the opposition change tactically to drop deeper defensively. Which allows United defenders to play higher up to dominate and control the game like against Crystal Palace to pin the opposition in and have wave after wave of attacks.

Greenwood will be a great impact substitute in the 2nd half against Norwich if we are struggling to break them down. Don't worry Greenwood will get plenty of game time especially over the busy Christmas period. But United need to keep a settled side as much as impossible right now to get use to the new manager and his tactics.

We've only played 2 games under Rangnick, the Carrick games aren't relevant to anything as it was a different style. In the 2 games pretty much every player has had a chance, now RR has to start cherry picking his best 11 from what he's seen, for starters I think within the next couple of games Shaw and Varane will be back in as starters. Ronaldo has to drop deep with Rashford as Marcus hasn't got a great deeper game and doesn't hold the ball up well, but that’s not the best use of Ronaldo who absolutely still has the pace to run in behind, with his movement and pace over the first 10 yards he's by far the most deadly player we have in this regard. I'm not worried about Mason, I just think he's been better this season, has a better all round game and should be starting over Rashford who's been largely poor.

I don't think he rested literally everyone just to have them sit on the bench again. The only potential change is Greenwood for Rashford which I'd want but even that feels unlikely.

    De Gea

    Dalot Lindelof Maguire Telles

    McTominay Fred

    Sancho Bruno

    Ronaldo Rashford

Subs: Henderson, Bailly, Shaw, Matic, VDB, Greenwood, Cavani
Hope to see Cavani get some minutes. Huge game for Rashford - If he doesn't produce then both Greenwood and Cavani will be gunning for his position, I suspect this could be his last chance before being dropped.

This could be a tricky game. We had some issues at Carrow Road even when we were good.

Looking forward to seeing a Greenwood Ronaldo partnership but maybe a game too soon.

Looking forward to this one. RR seems uninterested in flattering players egos or pandering to anyone from what we've seen so far, I think he'll start the same team but Rashford has to feel his position is now under threat from Greenwood, same for DDG and Henderson, Bailly was good yesterday as well...competition for places feels like it's back for the first time in a while.
