Norwich City Football Club (also known as The Canaries or City or The Citizens) is an English professional football club based in Norwich, Norfolk, that competes in the Premier League. Norwich City was formed following a meeting at the Criterion Cafe in Norwich on 17 June 1902 by a group of friends led by two former Norwich CEYMS players, and played their first competitive match against Harwich & Parkeston, at Newmarket Road on 6 September 1902. They also joined the Norfolk & Suffolk League for the 1902–03 season, but during the First World War, with football suspended and facing spiralling debts, they went into voluntary liquidation on 10 December 1917.

The club was officially reformed on 15 February 1919 – a key figure in the event was Charles Frederick Watling, future Lord Mayor of Norwich and the father of future club chairman, Geoffrey Watling. Norwich City F.C. played at Newmarket Road from 1902 to 1908. Following a dispute over the conditions of renting the Newmarket Road ground, in 1908 the club moved to a new home in a converted disused chalk pit in Rosary Road which became known as “The Nest”. By the 1930s, the ground was too small for the growing crowds, and in 1935 the club moved to its current home in Carrow Road.

The club's main local rival is Ipswich Town. When Norwich and Ipswich meet it is known as the East Anglian Derby, or, informally, as the Old Farm Derby – a comic reference to the 'Old Firm Derby' played between Scottish teams Celtic and Rangers. The fans' song “On the Ball, City” is the oldest football chant in the world, written in 1890 and still sung today; the song is, in fact, older than the club itself having probably been penned for Norwich Teachers or Caley's FC in the 1890s and adapted for Norwich City.

I'd love to go 442 but I reckon Greenwood will be given a break after starting the last 2 games :(

Got to be winning this and the game against Burnley in this tough run.

    De Gea
    Dalot Lindelof Jones Shaw
    Matic Fred
    Greenwood Gomes James

We play Wolves midweek and Liverpool next weekend, should rotate for this. Norwich are probably the team we are most set up to beat, especially at Old Trafford, so should be fine. Rest Rashford and Wan Bissaka, dont rush Maguire back, the rest we have nobody to rest anyway.

Hoping for Gomes to get a start and start getting minutes.

Maguire instead of Bernard if fit, of course.

Should be an easy win. Won’t be. Gonna miss Maquire. Seems like every game we’re missing key players. I expect a much better showing than against City. Win 2-1.

We should be pissing this, regardless of who's fit. They've 14 points, no wins in 8 although decent draws against Palace, Spurs and Leicester.

They're the one lower team that plays into our style of play.

Maguire not fit for this. Jones plays, that makes Norwich favourites.

This and Burnley game are only games we might actually win this month.

Genuinely think Norwich will get something from this. Probably a draw.

Sacking Ole is all well and good and wouldn't be necessarily be the wrong thing to do either. However don't go expecting anything to get much better under Poch or whoever. We will still have the same incompetent board and a very poor squad.

Only way we have a chance of getting back to the top again in next 10-15 years is through a takeover. Glazers haven't had a clue from the start. Fergie just papered over cracks for them. Now he's gone look at us.

Feck sake, they are bottom of the league not bloody City.

We'll beat them as long as we just go for it. Start playing too cagey and give them far too much respect and we'll make heavy weather of it.

We have got to win this game, absolutely no excuses there. With Chelsea having a fairly winnable fixture and pool away next for us, this is a must win game.

Not to mention that spurs too have a tough game this weekend and a win here can help us strengthen our grip on 5th at least, before we think of breaking the top 4.

Need to win this for the top 4 battle and for the mental health of the fans

No Pereira, Lingard or Mata thanks.

    De Gea
    AWB, Lindelöf, Bernard, Williams
    Fred, Matic
    Greenwood, Gomes, Rashford
    Martial

We have only 1 fit CB now? Can't even play Matic as CB as we will have only fit CM.

Should either play Bernard or Mengi, or experiment time with Shaw playing as CB.

    Any news on Taunzebe?

Where did you get that from?

Jones will be ok. Not great by any means but he’ll partner VL

I think some 'fans' would prefer a loss so if anything their mental state would be far worse with a win because that would 'buy Ole some more months'.

feck the domestic cups. this is where its at..

No midfield is still an issue.. but we need to make it work..

At home, against Norwich. Should be winning this. easy

We’ve surely got to win this. Injuries are in issue but 3 points here are vital.

With our lack of midfield options, I'd love to see us use Martial as a false 9 with a more advanced forward partnering him. Maybe a Ramazani who, like Tevez and Rooney back in t'day, presses like a man possessed which could make up for the two man midfield.

I'd say Greenwood but, for now, I prefer him on the right. I thought James looked really threatening for the last bit of the Burnley game a week or so ago when he moved centrally. Martial dropping deep to play him, Rashford and Greenwood through could be decent.

Not that I expect either to happen

Hopefully Martial is back. Might be a time to rest players for the big games ahead, but we lack options badly.
Still I would probably bench Rashford or James for this one if Martial can play. I feel both of them look tired and could need rest. Greenwood should still be more fresh so he should start. Mata should play as a number 10 here. This game should suit him as good as any. Lingard should obviously be benched. Matic and Fred in midfield and then maybe take them off if we got a good result for Pereira.

Might go with Young over Wan Bissaka too for more attacking power, but it would probably make little difference anyway. Would keep Williams as left back. Jones and Lindelöf in defense is all we can do. Would not rush Maguire back unless we know he is ready. Need to be less stupid in those areas after what happened with Pogba. Hopefully Maguire can be back for Liverpool away , but I doubt we will win that one anyway.
Would drop De Gea, but doubt it would happen.

James has lost all form for me. Been a very good signing overall though and will only improve but he needs taking out of the team for a bit. As for Lingard......no idea what Ole is doing tbh. Is he trying to play him back into form? It's been over a year now since he showed any.

We need to win but we're struggling for fitness and form. At least Martial will be fresh for this, we should still be able to cobble a side together that will prove too much for Norwich at home.

Seems most likely at the moment.
