Liverpool FC nicknamed The Reds are an English professional football club based in Liverpool, England; and were originally founded in 1892 as Everton Football Club and Athletic Grounds Company plc, before finalizing on the name Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Ltd after a dispute between the Everton FC board and John Houlding, the owner of Everton's former premise at Anfield Road.

One of the most successful and storied clubs in the history of European football, Liverpool have won 18 English league titles, 5 European Cups, 7 FA Cups, and 8 League Cups, peaking in the 1970s and 1980s, first under the enigmatic Bill Shankly, and then his 'Boot Room' successors. Although Liverpool's fortunes as a domestic and European force have dwindled in the past 25 seasons, they still have a massive global support-base; and share two fierce historic rivalries - with crosstown rivals Everton FC (The Merseyside Derby); and Manchester United (who ironically rose back into consistent title-winning prominence as Liverpool declined).

    Team should be...

    ---------------De Gea---------------
    Valencia--Smalling--Jones--Blind
    ---------------Carrick---------------
    -------Herrera-------Pogba-------
    Mkhitarayan--Zlatan-------Martial

Subs: Romero, Darmian, Fellaini, Mata, Rooney, Rashford, Lingard

    Make or break :nervous:

Oh good my favourite fixture of the year is coming up.

    :nervous::eek:

We've a days extra preparation, had a game where everyone practically strolled around the pitch. They're away vs Southampton so will almost certainly have much more of a game than we had tonight.

One of our biggest games of the season and we're coming into it at just the right time.

When we played City at home in the league everything felt so experimental and inconsistent.

Now I feel like Jose has his team, his tactics and the players have huge confidence.

    2-1 win

We're better than them, if we turn up we'll win. Really hope the lads are fired up for this. And that Zlatan has recovered.

Mane is a massive miss for them. He has been absolutely central to most of Liverpool's attacking play.

Having said that, Coutinho is back. Will be a difficult game for sure. Can't afford any silly mistakes.

Win this, we're within 2 points of Liverpool.

Lose and we'll be deflated. I'd take a draw right now, purely for momentum purposes.

Jose is a man for the big occasion - really hoping we deliver and get the win.

Don't usually feel confident going into the games with the dippers...But I'm strangely confident for this one!

The Sky advert for this ends with what sounds like air horns. fecks sake.

Think it'll be a score draw.

If you could win only once against these lot Sunday or Wembley?

    Want:

    ---------------De Gea---------------
    Valencia--Smalling*--Jones--Blind
    ---------------Carrick---------------
    -------Herrera-------Pogba-------
    Mkhitaryan--Zlatan-------Martial

    Think it'll be:

    ---------------De Gea---------------
    Valencia--Smalling*--Jones--Darmian
    ---------------Carrick---------------
    -------Herrera-------Pogba-------
    Mkhitaryan--Zlatan-------Rashford

    *if Rojo not available

Our chance to get closer to them and (if Chelsea win) put them some way from the title. I hope we win but I think we'll draw this.

If you could win only once against these lot Sunday or Wembley?
Always the League for me. League cup would only hurt because its Liverpool but otherwise it's just a league cup. I rather win Sunday and get within 2 of them.

DAYM SON WHERE'D YA FIND THIS.

I hope we smash the cnuts. We look really assured at the moment, this is the sort of game which could give us a wobble.

Don't think a single part of our selection is up for debate.

    DDG

    Valencia Smalling Jones Blind

    Herrera Carrick Pogba

    Mkhi Ibra Martial.

    3-0 United

Liverpool always seem to raise their game and batter the top teams, even away from home. It's not a game I'm looking forward to.

Who'll play ahead of Mane? Origi? I'm not sure how their front 4 will lineup.

Midfield will likely be Henderson + Lallana, defence will likely be Milner, Lovren, Matip, Clyne and Mignolet. Or perhaps a Henderson + Wijnaldum midfield with Lallana as part of the front 4 with Sturridge, Firmino and Coutinho?

Blind will be exposed, Darmian had a good game tonight we will need both our fullbacks to be pacey.

I think we will win but a draw would be a decent enough result after the points tally we've had recently

    I'd take a draw.
Same. Our record at Old Trafford combined with injuries/Mane missing makes me think that a draw is as good as we can get. They're pretty good at the moment as well. We've not been bad but we've dropped a level in terms of performance since Coutinho's injury.

Who else is injured for Sunday?

Think the team mostly picks itself, only real question for me is Martial or Mata. Think I'd go with Martial for this.

    Dave
    Valencia - Jones - Rojo - Blind
    Carrick
    Herrera - Pogba
    Mkhitaryan - Zlatan - Martial

Smalling in for Rojo if Rojo isn't fit.

Makes or breaks our season, if we win I can see us pushing on and pulling ourselves back in the title race.

Lose and we're back to battling for top four.

    I'd expect it to be:

Mignolet; Clyne, Matip, Lovren, Milner; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Can; Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino.

This is based on the assumption that we pick up no fresh injuries between now and Sunday, and that our injured players (Henderson, Matip, Milner and Coutinho) are all ready to go.
