West Ham United Football Club, nicknamed - The Irons, The Hammers, and The Academy of Football; are a professional football club based in Upton Park, East London; and were founded in 1895 by foreman and local league referee Dave Taylor and owner Arnold Hills as Thames Ironworks - a strictly amateur football club. They turned professional in 1898 upon entering the Southern League Second Division, and were promoted to the First Division at the first attempt. Following growing disputes over the running and financing of the club in June 1900 Thames Ironworks F.C. was disbanded, then almost immediately relaunched on 5 July 1900 as West Ham United F.C. West Ham's most successful period started with the appointment of Ron Greenwood in 1961, leading to FA Cup, League Cup and Cup Winners' Cup titles - with youth team graduates Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters at the forefront. Their nickname 'The Academy of Football' pays homage to the success of the club in coaching future greats - which includes that trio of World Cup winners, Trevor Brooking, Paul Ince, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick. West Ham's most prominent rivalries involve local clubs Millwall, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur; and they have been playing their home games at The Boleyn Ground (often referred to as Upton Park) since 1904, with a plan to move into the Olympic Stadium by the start of the 2016/ 2017 League season.

Looks like I've got a long day on Tuesday. No chance to see the game.. won't leave work in time to see any of the game, I expect. Might be a good thing - West Ham play with far more pace and purpose than Norwich

3.45am for me. I will already be asleep, so don't need us to help.

Last ever game at Upton Park. The place will be bouncing. I think we are in trouble.

Their last game at the Boleyn Ground. I think we're going to take the L.
We could do with Fellaini for this.

    De Gea
    Valencia--Smalling--Blind--Rojo
    Carrick
    Herrera--Rooney
    Mata--Rashford--Lingard

subs: Romero, CBJ, TFM, Schneiderlin, Pereira, Januzaj, Memphis

Neither of Lingard or Memphis deserve to start after today's performance, but it's going to be one or the other. I wouldn't mind Januzaj starting but his lack of match fitness will probably mean he's only on the bench.

Last ever game at Upton Park. The place will be bouncing. I think we are in trouble.

I still don't understand why that makes it any more likely the'll beat us.

Since when do such things go to plan?

I'll take another boring, boring performance if it means we get the three points.

However, we play a lot better with Martial (:nervous: he's not injured for long is he? ) and Rashford in the side, so hopefully we can somewhat replicate the cup semifinal.

    1-0 to us.

West Ham are currently getting tonked by Swansea, huge pressure on them on Tuesday after today's home performance. We will be slow and shit as usual and it depends on if the crowd lift them or if they fold under the pressure.

Martial should be rested until the cup final, no risks with his hammy.

Swansea really have hit some form at the right time for us. Can see them beating City in the last game of the season. Just hope we can somehow scrape a win at Upton Park.

Lingard and Depay have no right to be anywhere near the starting eleven. I'd rather see Romero play up front than either of them.

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Blind BJ
    Schneiderlin
    Herrera Rooney
    Mata Rashford Martial

If we win this I think we will get top 4. We will beat Bournemouth and I `00% think City will at least draw one of their last 2, so it comes to this.

However, if we get top 4 Van Gaal will stay which scares me. Yet I still want us there.

Shite, just realised I'm on a flight for this. Think I'll have Wifi though so can at least follow the score.

They can't be as bad as in the fa cup so I've gone for 3-1 to them.

That game only counts if Arsenal somehow draws or beats City tomorrow.

They've been shite every time we've played them this season. Got out of Old Trafford without being beat out of dumb luck/Payet's diving

They have only won 2 of their last 9 games so their form is pretty bad at the moment.
Thats interesting. I get the feeling when I've seen them that they're ran out of legs and Payets influence is dwindling as we near the end of the season. Didn't think it was that bad though.

Well, the last ever game at Upton Park. I think that has to be brought into consideration. I'll think it'll be significant in how West Ham approach the game. I can see maybe a draw in this. Hopefully the occasion will get to the them and we'll batter them 1-0.

I watched a lot of the game today and Swansea battered them. They looked tired.

Anyone know when Martial is back?

This is what Van Gaal said after the game about it, doesn't sound like anything serious.
Anthony felt something and I'm a manager who is not taking risks," van Gaal told MUTV. "Especially not in his situation and I said this to Anthony because he has played most of all the matches, like Daley Blind and Chris Smalling.

"He is 20 years old. I have to take care of him so he didn't play and Wayne had to play the striker's position. He gave an assist to Juan Mata and it has been solved very well."

Van Gaal added: "When a player says he feels something, he shall not play. I think you have to be fit - especially in this weather as that is a big difference. We have to see tomorrow (Sunday) if the muscle is tight."

An Arsenal man city draw or shifty loss will motivate us greatly for the game.
