It's still crap.

Some thoughts after the first episode:
1. The pacing is still a train wreck
2. The actors/actresses and writers for the forsaken are all badass and the best part of this show
3. Elayne and Aviendha... I mean wtf. I guess they are trying get in front of the uncomfortable Rand has 3 ladies thing, but yeah....
4. Did I mention the pacing?
5. They set up Perin's fear of leadership nicely.
6. I literally lol'd 5 minutes into the show (after cold open) when I realized the cold open was not a flash forward. There was literally a sister on sister war in the tower and on the streets and the next day everyone was like "back to normal!"

I didn’t say otherwise.Rings of Power has nice music and environments too, the writing and world building is still dogshit.
Because it is.I haven't read the books but that felt very weird and wrong somehow.

Edit: 3 & 5 to a lesser extent are pseudo book spoilers.

Don't make me tap the thread title. This is in the books though.
They are mentioned to be “pillow friends” more than once. It’s the same term used for Morraine and Siuan during their early days in the tower.
Crap, posted in wrong thread. Moving discussion to correct one. Mods, feel free to delete.Don't make me tap the thread title.
I don’t think RJ ever intended for them to be viewed as anything other than the closest of friends. Hell, they went through the Aiel first sisters ceremony together. This is in the books though.

I'm afraid I have to agree. I haven't read the books but I can only imagine they cram even more detail in the pages than they try to do on the show. But a good show writer will know how much meat to give something, and what not. I know it's a popular book series but still nothing like a Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings or the Witcher (factoring in the huge group of gaming fans in that one too) so I feel like they could have gotten away with a lot more liberties than perhaps in other book universes. It's just very hard to digest bc it seems to try a little too hard if that makes sense.this show certainly has no right being this bland given the sheer number of characters and the length of the episodes. just what the feck were the writers doing all this time? I'm not sure if there's a similar case of show that I watched for two whole seasons without remembering a single name. that literally never happens to me, it's impossible.
the good part though is that it's perfect to watch while browsing caf. I have something as background noise and I don't care that much if I miss something important. plus, it kinda brings back friday evenings during last autumn when I would finish the day with the latest Rings of Power episode.
so I'll keep watching even though I'm not getting much from it.
Especially Matt is just irritating. Too bad they had to replace the actor. This dude literally has that air about him that he would be the most annoying guy in a room. But maybe thats the point - haven't read the books.I wish the show focused less on stories related to Perrin and Mat. I find I don't really care about them as characters. Maybe a little bit in season 1.
I would rather see more of Rand and the Forsaken
Episode 4 of this season was fantastic. Genuinely brilliant.
Of course it won't make sense if you're not paying attention.I gave up in the end. it's S3 and I still don't understand what half the characters is supposed to be doing or aiming for. I just don't care about them. stuff just happen while I'm browsing caf so it makes no sense to continue.
I won't bash it though. it served its purpose for a while at least.

The writing, casting and acting of Modhedien is absolutely superb. She makes my skin scrawl.
Just a big, amazing, terrifying weirdo. Love it.
