I appreciate having a design that's completely different to anything I've ever seen, but I do wonder how shit that glass is gonna look in reality. Think of all the bird shit that's gonna accumulate on there!
Poor Ashley Young

I love that sales pitch.

Also intriguing to see as they pull back on the view that there's a football pitch (not a stadium) just up the road from it. I don't know if that's just an infill blob on the plan or an actual thing of course.
I was just going to mention the other pitch. Is that going to be for the other teams use and maybe local community groups as well. Hope it is part of the project.

We'll be so rich by that point that we can employ a team of 24/7 pigeon snipers.

Really pleased with the fans being close to the pitch like OT. Should look good on screen and in person and quite distinct.

Anyone got a map view of where exactly it’ll be in the area? Guessing within the same pocket by the canal?

Also, agree on the red brick aspect. A stadium that clashes modern and traditional Manchester design would be great. The current pictures just reflect the ambitions of everyone else building in the city, ie glass and metal. It’d be a shame to see a Manchester with major landmarks having zero influence from traditional style - the whole place will be grey like the sky soon

but this is in place of Old Trafford right? so we'd need to find a place to play for 5 years - groundshare with City?
We'll stay at OT until the build had finished.

I wasn’t sure at first but the more I look at it the more better it gets it’s fecking insane

Thanks, I hate it.
It looks ridiculous, like a giant circus tent. The three spires are so offputting.
edit: I get the three spires are supposed to represent the trident, but it's a very chessy on-the-nose type of presentation.

“We intend to uphold traditions and it’s essential that it still feels like Old Trafford, feels like home. That’s why we will be keeping one of Old Trafford’s most iconic features, the pitch side slope”

What the feck that is mental
My first thought was would that mean you lose that bizarre and dangerous ditch around the pitch. I can't believe they would keep it!

Roll up, roll up!

Looks amazing. It's such a tough one as I'll miss Old Trafford massively, but this would be a huge step forward for the club.

I liked big sir Jim's optimism in the Overlap interview. Let's hope he's the right man to get us there.

I think it looks incredible personally. Will be sad to lose Old Trafford but it’s in dire condition and space is very limited.

I think the towers could look more trident like.. obviously until I read that I didn’t have a clue that was what they represented. It’s different and I’m happy with that.. too many stadiums these days look like giant toilet bowls so I’ll certainly take different.

Take the net off, and that's exactly what it will be underneath.

No chance. I can't see how they build massive pre-fabricated stadium parts and then sail them down the Ship Canal. How do you transport the thing to the canal side in the first place?
It won’t be @Solius transporting it

On the design, I think people are being a bit too precious. I actually like it's ambition and break from tradition. Let's be honest, if it had been too similar to OT then people would have questioned why we're rebuilding, and had we redeveloped the board would have been attacked for lack of ambition. That's certainly not something that can be levied against the current proposed design.

I actually quite like the look of it, although it does take a little getting used to. One of my absolute favourite stadiums growing up was the old Bayern Olympiastadion and the design with the tent definitely reminds me of that. I'm sure whatever it is will look a lot better in-person, not dissimilar to when our kits finally come out.

Great take!

it does look similar.

Glazer's let Old Trafford rot when they could have easily done some improvements and renovation throughout the last 20 years. So don't at all blame INEOS for not wanting to dump money and plan renovations for current Old Trafford and instead just build a bigger better (at least as far as structure and amenities go) modern day stadium.

I don't hate the design and actually like it more as I look at it
