FA Premier League 21/02/25 - 23/02/25

Malen, Rashford and Asensio playing for AV. What a timeline.

Blame the keeper but we've been exposed to cause that corner in the first place.

We don’t know how to make simple passes under no pressure. We give the ball away constantly. So wasteful in promising positions. We’ve been under pressure for so long. We deserve to lose this, 100%.

Feels like we've spent a billion on goalies and they're all shite.

We haven’t signed a single keeper who you would say is an experienced starter level keeper. They’re all cheap punts or young lads who need loans.

I think the Liverpool no. 2 is a free agent this summer. He was pretty good when Becker got injured.

Rashy has changed the game for Villa. Hope I'm able to say that on here.

It's his attitude not his talent in question? Bigger than the club?

Amazing how few standout players we have when you look at the amount spent. A lot of players we sold doing well too.

I'm not on the wind-up, mate I genuinely don't get what you're saying.

I'm saying that "finishing 3rd in a 2 horse race" has always been somewhere between disingenuous and obtuse. The 'two horses' in the title race were always Arsenal and Leicester. People say that phrase to somehow pretend that: a) Spurs somehow 'surrendered' the title (when they never held that position), and b) that Arsenal weren't in it (when they were).

With 14 games to go, the only thing preventing Arsenal or Spurs from winning a title was the five point advantage belonging to a team that barely escaped relegation the year before. I'll forever be disappointed that Arsenal's title challenge wilted that season. But denying that we were in the race has never crossed my mind as a coping strategy : )

If you're saying that Spurs couldn't be considered as challengers because a five point lead from Leicester was insurmountable with 42 points left to play for... that's fine, I guess. But I would have thought that's even more embarrassing than coming up short in a title challenge - after all, that happens to good teams every year.

By that logic, Man Utd (who finished 4 points behind spurs) were also in the title race, as they too couldn't finish about a team that 'barely escaped relegation the year before'.

The one time Spurs have were runner-up to the title was in 2016/17 (the following season), when we finished 7 points behind Conte's chelsea. We won 13 of the last 14 games that season and still couldn't have mathematically won the league then, as Chelsea won 37 points from 45 in the last 15 games and were 9 points ahead of spurs.

To be a 'title challenger', IMHO, you have to be at least be top at some point. Having a decent final run and finishing near the top doesn't mean you were in a title race/challenge.

TBH, if there's a third certainty behind death and taxes, it's Arsenal fluffing the title and deflecting it on anyone and everyone else. Just like this season

Meh. If we’re gonna sign a keeper I would want an actual top keeper who can make a difference immediately. Kelleher is a good keeper, not sure he moves the needle.

Big moment was the Cole Palmer chance. He's an elite player on his left obviously but no right foot at all.

Can't be losing that game if you want CL as very tough last five away game you've got left now and you're going to have to catch up a few now.

That was on his left foot. He could have taken it first time. I think he’s lacking in confidence, which is funny because not that long ago everyone was running the whole ‘he’s too stupid to feel pressure’ but I think he is low on confidence at the moment so he took an extra touch and then slipped.

My hope is that everyone from Arsenal down are very inconsistent. The problem is Newcastle, Brighton and Villa have caught up now, so the race for the CL spots is essentially a 7 way race for 3 available spots.

There’s only a fan from one team trying to deflect from coming short in a title challenge in this back and forth… and it’s most definitely the Spurs fan.

If you want to pretend that Leicester’s five point lead (that you pointed out in such great detail) was impossible for Spurs to make up with 14 games to go, be my guest. That’s a more shocking indictment of your club than anyone in this thread is even alleging.

She is always faster than anyone. Probably has 60ish monitors in front of her, watching every game, from PL to Polish second league.
Sometimes I beat her, than I have a party!
Exactly my thinking! DT monitores ALL the football.

I'm usually, who tf scored?? But there's no point trying to figure it out if you're gonna beat DT
