FA Premier League 21/02/25 - 23/02/25

They don’t. Hardly anyone’s beating Liverpool this season. City battered Newcastle last week and will beat most teams in the league quite easy with the squad they’ve got. And new players they’ve just bought
They've lost 8 games this season and they're 20 points off 1st. It's not like they've dropped off a little.

Big weekend swing. Feels like that might be it. Hard to see Arsenal catching us from here.

Van Dijk MOTM.

Comfortable as you like for Liverpool

City are "cooked" as the children would say

Not a chance you can give a defender MOTM v that City team. I'd have kept them quiet.

It was Salah by a mile..

Congratulations, Liverpool. Hurts but they're now likely to overtake our twenty league titles in the next few years.
Salah, VVD and TAA are yet to sign contracts. If they lose the three of them for nothing it will be a giant task to compete for the title again within the next few years.

Slot and Van Dikhead are now not complaining about sitting deep and playing long balls anymore as when they do it then it’s okay.

The season is practically over in February.

Liverpool are obviously winning the league. The bottom three are cut adrift and don't look like escaping. Only the top 4 battle left really.

Sad that that's all we can hope for, that and City go and spend billions to build a new mega squad to win titles again.

I’m convinced that Arsenal would win the league next season if we lose all three. That City squad needs a tonne of work.

It's a rubbish season. I stopped caring in December.

Feels reminiscent of when Mournho was in charge at United and City came to OT with a chance to open up an 11 point lead. They did so and it shattered any illusion that it was anything other than a one-horse race.

Arsenal could drop another flurry of points now and let Liverpool extend to 15-20 points.

City need a bigger rebuild than people realise.
Abu Dhabi has the dubloons, their issue is with complying with PSR rules. Everyone knows they need to get rid of De Bruyne, Gündogan, Ederson, Walker, Grealish, Bernardo, maybe Rico at the very least

They've just won the court case enabling them to spend endless amounts so it's just a case of whether he can be arsed
No, that was for three points out of all aspects of spending rules, not PSR itself. Main judgement to come soon, maybe March.

What has changed is City have (over the last few years) managed to legally grow income and diversified.

TAA is not that big of a loss, the other two stated they want to stay no? Trent is error-prone so they can probably find a decent defensive upgrade on him. It's players like Konate or Diaz who are oft linked with money clubs like PSG that they can't afford to lose yet may not be able to keep in the long term due to their wage structure.

It was before this weekend, they don't have any fit forwards... Merino not going to do the business ffs.

80 points should be enough for the title this season, you'll should win it by 12 points at least.

The other two are in their mid-thirties. Saying you want to stay during a title run is lip service to keep a steady ship.

Signing a contract is how you prove you want to stay and at 33 you are one bad tackle away from losing a contract worth tens of millions which I why I think Salah and VVD would have signed already if they intended to stay.

Surely that can't happen? There's no way you're letting Salah leave on a free, unless he refuses to sign a new contract. It would be the ultimate PR catastrophe. There's just no way, it's all posturing by both sides.

Exactly they're 33, even if they stay Liverpool need to be looking for their replacements anyway.

I think and hope he'll stay. The club have managed it awfully up to this point though. Even in the very best case scenario where he extends, he's more than argued his case for a bigger salary than he may have accepted at the start of the season.

I think its probably Salah's demands that are holding things up between him a Liverpool at the moment, he clearly wants more wages than FSG are willing to offer.
